Good food, but not clean at all, they also claim to be «fresh» but it is not, the rice is microwave rice, they sell a lot of packaged food as «fresh». I’ve also noticed that no one ever tends to wear gloves? It’s plain and simple the place has poor management

BEST Greek food in Memphis by far! I visited the restaurant approximately 30 minutes before closing. The manager was extremely courteous and allowed my friend and I plenty of time to make our menu selections and eat. He made wonderful suggestions, all of which I enjoyed. The feta dip and grapes leaves were on point! The linen tablecloths and napkins give the café an upscale feel. Make your way to Petra Café on Union Ave. You won’t be disappointed!

Loved the classic gyro! I have had gyros from many restaurants in Memphis and this was by far the best. The gyro is a generous size and the sauce is clearly made of fresh and natural ingredients. I could see tiny pieces of cucumber in it and both the consistency and quality were perfect. There are diced tomatoes and very thinker sliced red onions that have been soaked to make them mild and sweet. The staff is very considerate and the linen tablecloth, napkin, and heavy flatware assist in making a lunch break here refreshing and relaxing. Highly recommended!

I am a huge fan of this place. I love the gyro salads, and their hummus with pita bread is delicious. As a side item, I thought the hummus and pita was pricey for $ 5, but then I saw how much you get. They give you a hefty amount of hummus that you will have to take home and share. The service has been nothing short of fantastic when I have been there.

Awesome!!! Their food is amazing and the owner is so nice!!! I had the classic gyro. It was so good. I sampled the zesty gyro! The feta cheese sauce made my mouth water. And the fries are very tasty no salt or condiments needed. I had the hummus appetizer with pita bread. It taste so fresh and amazing!!!

Petra is a great alternative to the usual. The food is always fresh and the staff nice. Usually not busy. One of those places you like to give your business. Try the classic Greek gyro. It’s awesome.

Felt it necessary to add… I have always, always had the gyro at Petra’s. However, they had a 5 dollar deal on a 1⁄3 lb angus burger, so I went for it. For a greek place, they make a helluva burger. Tender and flavorful, perfect amount of grease.

This Petra location recently reopened. I ate there today with 2 friends. Excellent! We had Greek salads, panninis, a gyro, and baklava. Food is very fresh and staff was great. Can’t wait to go back!

3 stars. Several reasons. 1. The Mediterranean Salad I received was mostly lettuce and little else. I actually went home and cut up my own veggies to add to it. 2. Overpriced. With tax, my Mediterranean Salad with Gyro Meat + a side of Hummus came out to around $ 20. I was not expecting to pay that much for mostly lettuce. 3. The girl at the counter tried to dispel diet advice to me. I know she was probably just trying to be helpful, but she mentioned the gyros/flatbreads were low on carbs. That is impossible. 4. Maybe the other locations are nice, but the Union location needs some sprucing up.

I smell like garlic.. .and I like it. Sometimes you want beef, other times lamb. But when you want both along with copious amounts of onion and garlic you head to Petra! Greek diners are everywhere in the NE, not so of the Mid-South, thus Petra fills a critical need in this region when Mediterranean is on your mind. The restaurant is small but tidy, seating for about 20 – 25. With tablecloths and non-plastic cutlery, it is a real restaurant with a deli style takeout counter. Service was friendly and a bit slow, really a welcome change on my lunch break. Located next door to a Subway, I felt sad for everyone walking past with their fake meat subs when such a civilized and interesting meal was only a few feet away for about the same price. Their hummus and falafel were very good! Sandwiches on the menu and salads look equally tasty and I look forward to another visit.

Finally gave this place a go and it wasn’t so great. I ordered the falafel and I don’t know if I’d order it again. It just wasn’t very flavorful. It had hummus and the usual veggie toppings(tomato, lettuce, cucumber) but it just wasn’t that good. I ate it all still, but I was disappointed by it. My friend had the italian panini and it was much better than the falafel. It was flavorful, and the ham and the salami were great while I also loved the mortadella. The other person in our group ordered the neapolitan panini and while the chicken breast wasn’t great everything else really made up for it. The prosciutto is good, like always(good job, prosciutto, keep it up), and the rest of the toppings helped complete the sandwich. Then we went ahead and had some dessert, a slice of key lime pie. Why didn’t we have baklava? I don’t know… but we got some key lime pie. It wasn’t quite right. Lime? yes. Key? No. I don’t know if they make their own pie or buy it premade, but either way it wasn’t quite right, so I recommend skipping it. So while the paninis were good, the falafel really wasn’t, and that’s what I was really hoping for. I don’t think I’ll choose to go back to this place after I gave everything a try, sorry.

I’ve been here a few times and have liked their sandwiches ok. Today got the tabbouleh and spanakopita. The tabbouleh was swimming in way too lemony and oily juice. The spanakopita had a great flavor, but super duper oily. They are generally good(their hummus is amazing) and I would go back. Friends and I agree though that they are not very consistent.

Ate in here at lunch for the first time — have had their takeout food several times and have always been pleased. I came pretty much decided on the Greek salad, which I’ve had before and loved. The waitress convinced my friend and me to try the chicken and vegetable paninis — and swap halves so we could get a taste of both. Her advice could not have been better. Both sandwiches were juicy, fresh-tasting and delicious. I’d be hard pressed to decide between them as both were tasty. I nearly finished both halves, which is saying a lot — the ciabatta was fresh and the filling was

Petra Café has some great gyros and great hummus. Friendly people are always working there and although sometimes they are understaffed and the service isn’t as speedy as you might hope, the small wait is definitely worth it. Watch out for their fountain sodas, I think they run about $ 2.25 for an average size cup, pretty pricey compared to their actual menu.

Delicious! Great hummus! Try any of the four locations but try this one often so it stays open. Midtown needs a Greek restaurant.

I stopped in for lunch today for the first time. I ordered the Mediterranean Veggie to go. The atmosphere was pleasant; the service was good and courteous; and the sandwich was really tasty. I will definitely give them another try. There are several items on the menu that look good.

What a nice addition in this oft-desolate stretch of Union. I stopped in for a to-go lunch on my way home from a doctor’s appointment, and was thoroughly impressed. The service was friendly and quick, and my Neapolitan Panini w as tasty. The sundried tomatoes and spiced olive oil gave it a nice bit of a kick, and the meat and greens were fresh and tasty. It was the perfect size for quick lunch, too — not too much and not too little. There aren’t a lot of options for deli-style sandwiches in Midtown, and Petra provides a welcome addition with a Mediterranean twist. I’ll definitely be back.

Very good! Hummus is great. So far: classic Greek Gyro, hummus in pita, zesty gyros panini, chicken panini, muffuletta salad & the sampler. Sweet tea is also good. The panini sandwiches are large enough to share.

Petra’s new Midtown location has an impressive menu of Pita bread, deli style and panini sandwiches, Mediterranean appetizers/sides, and a tasty sounding selection of salads. I chose the Chicken Gyro. The sandwich was fairly hefty, but typical Gyro fare, and at a higher price than other Midtown Delis. The chicken was on the dry side. The counter staff was not very friendly. I am giving Petra 3 stars based mostly on the menu. Another experience like today’s will certainly lower the rating, but a good experience next time could possibly bring a higher rating. In the meantime, i will enjoy the better value and always consistent goodness of my 2 favorite Midtown delis, Finos and Kwik Chek(both on Madison)
