Great local restaurant! Love the restaurant atmosphere and their patio set up. The vegan fritters are absolute the best side item or starter item. Overall good menu selection. Staff is really friendly both in restaurant and on food truck.

Best food truck and best restaurant for lunch. There’s actually lots of choices for vegetarians and vegans. Fritters are amazing as was every other vegan item I tried. Friend had the bison burger, good meat for sure but very greasy. It may just be a greasier meat, so it may just be something she wasn’t used to. They use local and natural ingredients as well.

Cool little place to grab some healthy food. The atmosphere of the old filling station is funky. The prices were reasonable, food was yummy and the service was great. I will return. Especially nice to see non meat options in the land of BBQ.

Now this is different. The gas station vibe, the fresh cut potatoes, the homemade ranch dressing, homemade tea, bison burgers, and vegetarian food, they do things different here. That’s right, they slice their own French fries. Everything is cooked to the order and made special for each guest. When my doctor finally tells me to stop eating meat, I’ll have somewhere to eat. Until that day comes, I’ll avoid vegetarian burgers, so I ate a bison burger. It had grilled onions and mushrooms, and quite a few other flavors. I especially liked the bun which I think is honey wheat. For lack of a better description, I’ll just say that all those flavors blended together in a really unique way that I’ve never experienced. As for the fries, I do like bagged frozen fries, however, fuel café does it right and slices them fresh from potatoes. Sometimes the simplest things are the best. Slice a potato, drop them in hot oil, and then add a dash of salt. Then put ketchup on the table and Walla, perfection. We are so lucky that mother nature gave us potatoes! We take them for granted but throughout history, it was often the potato that made the difference between life and death!

Family of meat eaters with one vegetarian and a vegan. Finding places to eat dinner all together is hard. But, it wasn’t too bad. The meat lovers were happy with the bison burger and my daughter was happy with the only vegan option dragon bowl. Kind of on the pricey side but we were all happy except me. I ended up eating an overprice salad and left starving for real food. Maybe some pasta would of been nice. They did make a very good vegan pumpkin spice cheesecake two of us are wildly in love with and a pretty good apple crumble. One thing I didn’t like was you either eat inside with smoke in your eyes or you eat in a crowded outdoor with the local bugs. Not many places to park also.

Finally got a spot during lunch! My co worker and I have been literally dying to eat here, so we were saved when we got there and it was empty on lunch! Knowing that it was a refurbished gas station, nostalgia hit me along with the smell! But it adjusted to my senses within a few mins and I was ready to order. There was only 1 waitress, she was OK. I hate the fact that she didn’t warn us about items missing off the menu before giving us the menus! Wanting something and not have it is palette torture! Anyway, I had the grilled cheese with tomato, arugula and fried egg! My friend had the same minus the egg. She would have had avocado but this was one of the missing items! #grrrrrr Never the less it was the best grilled cheese this side of the equator! Sooooooo gooood! Our mouths were in such a happy place for those 8 min!(Amount of time to eat them) So, I think we will be back. I might do the to go option, or catch the food truck! I can’t get over the atmosphere. #shrugs

I have been wanting to try this for a long time now having heard good stories about the food truck and the brick and mortar store. I met a friend for lunch and we both ended up ordering the bison burger. The burger was very good especially the bun. The server, Bree, was nice, helpful, and attentive. We sat outside and the atmosphere was local and easy. Upon my next visit I’m planning to try the grilled cheese with the«extras» listed. It sounds great and was recommended by a friend.

I’m new to Memphis and I wasn’t sure until I Unilocaled this place what if was. It’s fantastic casual American Fare. I ordered the Grilled Cheese, which, by the way, they allow you to order it customized with your choice of add ons. I chose bacon and a fried egg. Needless to say, it was nothing short of amazing. I liked sitting outside under the roomy covered part of the restaurant, and the energy from the hanging plants and flowers they have sitting around.

The food here amazes me with each visit. The service also continues to be below average with every visit. I can say I have never ordered a bad meal here! Some recommendations would be to try the vegitarian meatloaf — it will blow your mind… I promise. Nothing vegetarian tasting about it at all. Also the watermelon mint salad is a nice surprise. And the quinoa chili is not nearly as earthy or bland as one might think. The food here is filling and healthy with an overall great value. While they no longer offer brunch, you can still bring your own wine for a $ 5 fee. I’d suggest bringingn your ownn glasses too! The ones they have a pretty generic.

Stopped in for lunch and sat outside. I had a Buffalo Burger and it was fantastic — tasty with nice crusty edges. My wife had a grilled cheese with mushrooms and onions — said it was the best she has ever had. Fries and salad were also excellent. This could have been a 5 star experience but the bathroom needed attention.

Came to the café because of the breakfast burritos and grilled cheese from the food truck at the Memphis Farmers Market. Menu is not extensive but everything we’ve tasted has been very good. The truffle Parmesan dip is addictive. Steak is well cooked and seasoned. Bison burger is very good. Dragon shrimp bowl brings together a variety of flavors for a delicious entrée. I’ll be back because there’s a few things I still haven’t tried.

Happy to find a veggie place in Memphis and even more so when the staff let us in for dinner near their closing time. The veggie meatloaf served on top of mashed potatoes was so yummy as was their veggie burger and sweet potatoe fries

This visit was a little after 1pm on a Saturday. They were full inside, where they have limited space, but we’re able to pull together some tables to accommodate our party of 4. We were quickly brought waters, but then it took about 15 – 20 minutes for a waiter to come back to take our order. At that point out waiter apologized and explained that another waitress had not shown up for their shift, leaving him as the only waiter. Our party ordered the veggie burger with fries, meatloaf sandwich with watermelon mint side, gourmet grilled cheese with Berkshire bacon and a vegan chopped salad. It was all good and each person said they would order the same item again. For me, the fresh cut fries were really good, although they way offset the healthy nature of the veggie burger. Also, the mint watermelon was a hit. To finish off, we had the vegan root beer float. So, the food is really good vegetarian/vegan fare. I hope hiccup with the service over our last two visits are just that, a hiccup. Otherwise, good, good, good.

Love Fuel! Fresh, great quality meals, with amazing flavors. I’ve had the vegetarian options — quinoa and red bean chili, burger, walnut meatloaf, veggie plate. The succotash side is really good, the tofu, and my brussel sprouts tasted alcoholic-ly amazing lol The food truck tacos are the BEST!!! Service is great, you get to meet the kitchen when you walk in the door. They’re quick with the food too, which is great especially if you have somewhere to go.

I’ve been grappling with my carnivore status recently. My good friend’s dad has decided to go full vegan due to some history of heart disease in his family. I was impressed by his self-restraint, but more importantly, I was amazed at the obvious health benefits. He looked great; he has lost weight and has more energy. Inspired by my friend, I decided to go vegan. About a half hour later, I had a half rack from One and Only and no regrets. Clearly, I had to take it down a notch. I decided to try to go full vegetarian for a week, and then eat vegetarian meals sporadically. I started out eating only fruits and veggies, and while I didn’t crave meat, I definitely craved the satiation that comes from eating meat and I didn’t know how to replicate that feeling besides late night excursions to Gibson’s. Luckily someone suggested I try Fuel and I’m so glad I did. My less-enlightened herbivore-hating self had heard about Fuel, but I dismissed the possibility of it being delicious. Boy, was I wrong! The food at Fuel is healthy food well done(bonus points for steak reference). We went on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon and the first thing you notice is how tiny the actual restaurant is. There’s only a handful of tables inside, but there is a patio outside. Apparently, Fuel used to be a gas station and the patio was a service area. It draws a decidedly hipster-ish crowd — anytime I’m the most normal looking dude in a restaurant, you know something strange is going on. But that crowd full of weird facial hair and snug jeans sure knows how to eat. We started with the veggie fritters and the tofu in herbs and wine. The veggie fritters come with a cilantro chutney, but I would recommend you eat them with the sirracha mayo. The veggie fritters are light and crisp and almost absolve you of your guilt for eating fried food. But the tofu is a revelation. I must admit, I don’t know what the hell tofu is. I think it’s soy, but I’m a little unclear what soy is, too. Is it a plant? I dunno; I’ve never seen a soy plant before. In fact, I was so curious I googled«the fuck is soy» later that night when I was drunk but the word fuck threw off the search results and I passed out before I could alter my search criteria. Either way, as long as soy and soy lent green aren’t same, I’m good. The tofu is amazing. It’s slightly rubbery like calamari, but it really absorbed the taste of the wine and the herbs. I’m curious to add it to more of my dishes in the future. For our entrees, we had the bison burger and the dragon bowl. You can sub spicy tofu on your dragon bowl for an upcharge, but I stuck to the shrimp. The dragon bowl is brown rice, asparagus tips, and green beans and has a Asian flavor. The bison burger is obviously bison that has gone on to glory. It’s also very flavorful, but you can add egg, bacon, and cheese, if you want. There is also a walnut«meatloaf» that I’m eyeballing. I don’t know if Fuel is for everyone, but it is a fantastic place to try for vegetarians and meatheads alike.

The place has good vegetarian and vegan food with some options for carnivores as well, such as the«bison burger». It’s located in a former gas station, thus the name. It has a trendy/folksy/artsy atmosphere. The parking can be a little tricky. There is not much parking available around the place itself, so parking on the street may be necessary, but that’s not a big problem for me. The service is accurate, though slow and at times not very friendly. I had the veggie burger with was very tasty and well prepared. I had fries on the side, which were excellent. In addition to inside seating, there is an expansive outdoor seating area.

I’m totally swooning over this place! And by that, I mean, I am in a constant swoon state. I am not a vegan by any means, but I can eat like one here(and enjoy it). Oh, and I have been having constant fantasies about their BRIE&FIGJAMCROSTINI(ZOOOOOMG) ever since I first had it a few months ago. No seriously, GETIT! You can’t order wrong here and the dudes that work here are awesome. Plus I love the whole gas station vibe it has going on. I really enjoy eating outside under the awning and fans. This place encompasses all of the reasons I love midtown: quirky and healthy options.
