La Preferida

If its authetic tacos you are looking for, here it is. Loved the carne tacos with salsa verde. Yes they are small but try many of them with different fillings. Unilocal didnt lead us wrong here.

YESSSS!!! Tacos are on point! The salsa verde is amazing too! I’ve been dying for some good taquitos and here they are! I can’t wait to try other menu items! I’ve been really home sick lately (Texan) and this place was exactly what I needed!!! Loaded up on Mexican candies and tortillas and tacos of course!

La Preferida is the grocery store portion of the offering, while Tacos El Vaquero is the food truck permanently parked outside. It’s a bit confusing since you order for the truck inside the store. In any case, the store has dry goods, drinks, and most importantly fresh handmade delicious tamales! (fresh on Saturdays) They are sold in packs of 3 and come in chicken, pork, and cheese usually. The flavors are perfect. Take some home, steam them up, and enjoy with some salsa verde and a grapefruit Jarritos!

We finally ventured down to Melbourne to try it!
The tacos were outstanding we loved the shredded beef! We also tried the tostadas with chicken and they were very good as well.
The sauces both green and red were tasty — looking forward to expanding to other local Mexican eateries!

I’m from Chicago where Mexican food is excellente’! We were somewhat disappointed. The tostadas and tongue tacos are ok. We were not satisfied with the sauces. I may or may not try again.

Yes! These are the type of tacos you’re always hope to find tucked away in your town. I had the chicken tacos. Simple but very tasty. Warm tortillas with flavorful chicken topped with cilantro and onion, served with a lime wedge and what I’m guessing is a homemade tomatillo salsa. Freaking awesome. This was my first time here and I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu.

This place is the real deal! I’m from Lis Angeles and have been searching for «real» Mexican food since moving to Florida in March and today I found it! Ordered carne asada tacos and from the first bite it was just like home. Oh and great prices! Can’t wait to go back!

Their Gordita was amazing. Flavor with every crunchy/​soft bite of its shell and the marinated pork was great. Definitely a good location to get your fill of authentic Mexican food.

The BEST Mexican food I have ever had and I am Mexican. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

Posted this under the Tacos EL Vaquero which is the same as La Preferida. The truck is located in the parking lot next to the La Perferida food store. Passed by this place many times but finally stopped today and I’m glad I did. The tacos are out of this world. True Mexican tacos, not the junk most places serve. Double hand made tortilla with fresh fillings, Cilantro, Onion and Lime… As simple as it gets but perfect. Can’t wait to come back and try their other offerings. You go inside the store and order and pay, then take the receipt to the truck. Tables inside and out.

Good price and nice food. Depending on the day call ahead. If you’re ordering also a lot you should call ahead. I love the tacos here.

Very good food and the price is reasonable. This place makes me think of California or out west where the Mexican food is authentic.

We go here once a week for lunch. It’s the best Mexican food you’ll get outside of Mexico. Great, friendly service. It’s a food truck, but they have inside and outside tables. Haven’t had anything that wasn’t great. Order inside, get your post-​it and drop it off at the truck. Try the green sauce, it’s not too hot, but has a great flavor. Get the burrito and you can split it with someone else. Enjoy!

Excellent tacos. That was my first time there. I need to go back and try other menu items. The tacos are about 3″ in diameter, so order many to get satisfied. At $ 1.65 each you can try one of each flavor! Great deal!

This place is the real deal. Great authentic mexican at reasonable prices. This is not in a five star sit down restaurant, if it was it would be overpriced and probably not good. Your food is coming out of a food truck but it is awesome. I know melbourne don’t understand food trucks, but some of your best food will could come out of food trucks. If you want something generic go to taco bell. But if you want great authentic mexican this is the place. Great job

You know they also own La Tequila restaurant on US 1. It is in strip mall next to Dell’s Freeze. The menu is bigger and they have margaritas.

Oh the tacos! Insanely good, tons of flavor, and great salsa! Start inside the store to order and take your post it to the truck to get your food prepared.
They were out of Carne asada so I had marinated pork and chicken, they were fantastic!

The sight of a food truck and their over-​the-​top, ostentatious paint job is a cliché, annoyance, and so yesterday’s «it». This taco truck, however, is synonymous with finding a diamond in the rough. Located in an inconspicuous corner of a Mexican grocery store parking lot of an inconspicuous part of the town, there’s nothing fancy about La Preferida, but in a society where looks are often valued over substance, it’s refreshing to see a joint that bucks the trend.
To experience the food, you’ll need to order in the store (which has an «interesting» smell… you’ve been warned) then take the hand written Post It Note (sorry to disappoint any POS system salesperson) to the truck and await for your culinary delight.
It’s safe to say you won’t ever find a Michelin starred chef or a 5 piece Mariachi band at La Preferida, but your taste buds will be well rewarded with a quick trip to this truck.

My boyfriend and I drive across town just to get these tacos! They are the real deal, this is NOT Taco Bell or Moe’s! The tacos are AMAZING and recently I got to try the burritos which are huge and equally as delicious. I recommend the barbacoa in the tacos or burritos, but the chicken is good too! The burritos come with rice and beans already In it, I always add a side of rice and beans to the tacos which are real hand made corn tortillas. Get there early because they are always busy and sometimes run out by 5pm.

What can I say whatever I’m visiting town or driving by this my place. I am originally from Mexico and every time I have the opportunity to eat real tacos La preferida os the best tacos de abodada, and barbacoa are my favorites. Also they have Menudo on Sunday (if you are hangover that is your remedy). Inside the store you can find from mexican spices all the way to cloths lol unbelievable but true. If this wasn’t enough they also have a little meat market, good cuts and always fresh. They also make their own tortillas in house for only 2.50 you can get a half of pound of fresh corn tortillas mmm you cant beat that. I recommend this place 100% all day
