I had given my daughter a certificate for Casa Fabian. She loved it! I drove down from Rochester, NY and we went there. Great food, made with great ingredients. The lovely woman/owner and I discussed recipes and when I complimented her on the Chili Rellenos, she mentioned that her Mom, is in back doing all the cooking. Lovely people. Small venue and I think it’s a good thing to keep it a friendly cozy place to dine on really good authentic food. I am amazed at the roasted tomato dip that comes with the nachos!

I was excited to try this place after seeing all of the good reviews. It was absolutely horrible from beginning to end. The chips were very greasy and the salsa had no flavor. I ordered a taco salad with steak. I didn’t realize it was possible to screw up a taco salad, but they sure did. The salad was mostly just flavorless rice and beans and I could barely chew through the steak. My dining companion got tacos with the same tough steak. The chicken taco was not eaten at all because it was so tough and tasteless. Both of our meals went mostly uneaten, we left there hungry and wasted over $ 30. Our waitress was also completely unresponsive to our dissatisfaction even after clearly communicated. Don’t waste your time or money.

Really do not understand how people like this place. Terrible! Terrible is gross understatement. Restaurant is dirty, food did not look appealing & tasted awful. After the waitress asked, how did we like it, and i was trustful she did not offered anything.

When we walked it we knew the food would be good. Small family restaurant. The décor and set up was okay, but the food… VERY good. I was visiting from Texas and am always skeptical of trying it in the north. Definitely worth a visit. I mentioned the great flavor and she said. Mama’s in the kitchen!

Second time here and both experiences are positive. Very nice family that owns and runs this place in the heart of Matawan. Food and service was very good. They deliver locally. There are 8 or so tables in the restaurant. We had steak taquito’s and a chicken chimichanga. Also an order of homemade guacamole. We will definitely return. Great prices.

We love tacos, so we decided to try Casa Fabian recently. Their chorizo tacos are absolutely amazing. Loved their guac too. The owners working there are so nice. The tacos are corn tacos — which I love — and come with chopped red onion and cilantro. Good prices! Wish I had taken a pic

Loved this little place. Tacos al pastor were so flavorful. The tacos came with 3 and no rice and beans which is perfect for me since i usually dont eat the rice and beans. Between the chips and salsa they serve when you sit down and the extra guacamole we ordered, it was very filling. Atmosphere was quaint, we enjoyed the music playing and the very attentive and helpful waitress. Would definately go again.

My friends and I came here for dinner. We immediately loved the atmosphere — laid back, fun music, friendly waitress. I had a chimichanga with chipotle sauce that was incredible, served with rice and black beans. My girlfriends had tacos. The pork taco was especially flavorful. We all enjoyed our meals and stuck around awhile to finish our bottle of wine in a fun atmosphere. Prices are great! Highly recommend checking out!

Really good authentic Mexican food! The steak chimichanga with the chipotle sauce was delicious and the tres leches cake was awesome. A lot better than most Mexican places in the area. Great customer service too our waitress was so nice and accommodating

I am obsessed with this place! After going to Mexico and having REAL Mexican food this is the only place I found that does it right. Although chimichongas are not an authentic Mexican dish they have a damn good chimi and the chipotle sauce is so good! Aside from fantastic food the service is great and I feel that service is just an important as the quality of the food. Also the place is extremely clean! I will be getting my Mexican dishes from here for now on!

We ordered delivery. I had a chimichanga and it was good. The tacos al pastor are definitely big winners here. Juicy porky goodness.

Great food, very sweet staff. Food is fresh, and the waitress(owner’s daughter) is very friendly & helpful, especially with my family being half vegan and half vegetarian. She goes over which sauces are vegan and dairy free, etc. And even made us a special ‘nopales’(cactus) appetizer that was very good– definitely ask for it if you are in. Would love to see that on the menu!

Quite possibly the best tacos I have ever eaten. To start, the tortillas are extremely fresh and double layered so you they don’t fall apart after you pick them up. I also like that you can mix up your taco order. I hate when places make you order 3 of the same taco. Not the case here! In my opinion the chorizo taco is the best option here, followed by the al pastor, carnitas, then the beef. However I’ve found myself craving each one on different days. Lastly, the sauces! Their chipotle sauce is irresistible and pairs amazing with any taco, but if you’re looking for a fresher experience, go with the verde. Both are perfect. Extremely satisfied with Casa Fabian and so happy it’s so close!

There a few Mexican places in and around keyport but this place is awesome! I got a steak and a chicken burrito. The burrito was huge! Filled with chicken, rice and veggies the sides of rice and black beans were more than enough. Awesome flavor with the chipotle sauce. It was a pretty decent price for how much food you get. Staff was really nice as well. I fully recommend this place.

I absolutely love this place! I’ve tried several things on the menu(tostadas, chile rellenjo(sp?)) that I have never had before, so I can’t really compare to other places, but I know they’re outstanding here! The staff is extremely nice and always fun to talk to when I stop in. I usually swing by a few times a month as they’re right down the street from where I live in Matawan. It’s a small place but it’s cozy and they usually have nice Mexican music playing when you come in. I’m actually writing this review right now from my seat in the restaurant and I just remembered that the green sauce they bring out with the tortilla chips in the beginning is amazing! And also try the tres leches cake, they make it fresh on premises it’s soooooo good!!!

Food was good, the waitress was very nice and attentive. I had the mexican pizza, and my wife had a chimichanga. Food came at a decent time, tasted authentic, and had many chips to snack on in between. Would definitively return

Came here for lunch. Gave out free chips as an appetizer. Lunch specials were really good and good price. I had the chicken enchiladas which were awesome. They also give you 2 different sauces to dip with the chips. Service was very good as well. Will be coming back.

Stopped by at Casa Fabian on friday before the 4th on my way to Abys, which is down the road bc I was in the mood for tamales. Very cute décor, parking was a breeze and service was friendly. The chips they served before my meal were obviously fried on site, not bagged, but seemed stale. I almost couldn’t bite through some of them. Their sauces are all home made and delicious. The black beans were very tasty, the tamale itself was loaded with chicken but seemed like it was frozen the maiz was very hard on the ends. The mole sauce had alot of flavor. It was ok. Would have preferred if it was all fresher. I think they really would have something good there. For a Friday evening everything should have been completely fresh. I might try it again if I know everything was recently made.

I found a deal for Casa Fabian! off of and bought it for whenever we were in the mood for some Mexican since we’re from around the area. Prior to seeing a deal for this place, I’d never seen or heard of it. It’s a small Mexican restaurant right along Main Street, so chances are you’ll have to find street parking when you come here, which is what we did. The place is BYOB. There are prob 6 – 8 tables in the place. We had dinner here on a random weeknight in the winter and there was only one other couple in the place. Another couple arrived when we were almost complete with our meal. They did also have some people coming in to pick up food. Our waitress was friendly and was the only person in the front, so she was taking calls for orders and also waitressing. It worked since it wasn’t too busy, but I’m not sure how this would hold up if there were more tables full. We were brought out Chips and Salsa soon-after we were seated. They were both just OK. The Chips were a little stale and didn’t have much flavoring and the Salsa was watered down. I ordered the Chicken Chimichanga($ 10.95) and my fiancé had the Grilled Flat Steak($ 10.95). The food was mediocre. There was nothing bad about it, but at the same time it wasn’t spectacular. Everything was average from the pricing, to the portions, to the quality and taste. For dessert, we shared a Tres Leches cake($ 5.95), and it’s funny because I’m not sure if the waitress thought that just because we’re Asian that we’d never heard of Tres Leches, but she kept offering the dessert option to us as «3 Milk» cake. She was sweet, but just found it rather amusing since the cake is offered in many restaurants, but perhaps there are people who never heard of it or wouldn’t know that«Tres Leches» means 3 Milk. Nice option to have for Mexican in the area, however I favor a few other joints over this one so not sure if I’ll be returning.

I was passimg through this town with my wife. We both like mexican food and stopped by. I have to say we enjoyed it a lot. There were a lot of authentic dishes on the menu, I had the fajitas mixta, which were seasoned and marinated very well. My wife had the fajita salad which she like. For the price and location it was very good. Central jersey is not known for fine mexican restaurants.
