Very disappointed with this place. The food is very overpriced and lacking any flavor. The vegetable fajitas are basically a bag frozen vegetables fried in a lot of oil served with bland rice and beans. Nothing has any spices or any kind of flavor. I’m really not sure how this place has any positive reviews.

Nice place with decently prepared meals. Way overpriced for the what they serve and the small portions don’t justify the price either. Super friendly staff with great service though.

A town with a proud Mexican heritage is done proud by probably the most quality Mexican food I’ve had. The only thing keeping me from extending it to the full 5 stars would be the pricing. BYOB definitely helps to cut the cost however. That said I consider it worth it for the quality. Great waiters too! HINT: Ask for the Tri-color burritos that are not on the menu but can be made for you. For $ 20 you will not regret it.

Had the Pollo casablanca. Awesome. We also had a bowl of the seafood soup as it was chocked full of seafood. Our service was perfect.

My boyfriend and I have been coming here since we moved close by. Always quick and friendly service. We request Ricky as our waiter each time, who is knowledgable and polite whenever we come in. The steak burritos are to die for!

We love abys! My husband and I have been customers since they were in their older location downtown. The new location is clean, colorful, and spacious. The staff is friendly and always make us feel welcome. We even had our wedding rehearsal dinner at abys. We were more than pleased with the accommodations that were made for us and the prices are always fair! Great quality food and service for an affordable price. Highly, highly recommended! Also, my husbands favorite dish is the pollo Casablanca. I tend to order a chalupa or burrito off the specials menu. I have yet to be disappointed. Thank you, abys!

Service was OK. The food however, not so much. I didn’t enjoy my meal at all. My boyfriend wasn’t very satisfied with his meal either. Everything came out in a timely fashion and the restaurant looked pretty clean. I won’t be back again though. There are definitely much better places to choose from.

I’ve eaten here two times. Plenty of parking and close to the Matawan train station. Service is good but on my last visit we asked for salsa to be brought separately, when the meal arrived it was covered in it. We were very hungry so we ate it anyway. Food is ok, nothing special, but expensive for what it is. Won’t be coming back.

Excellent Mexican Food! They moved to a bigger location, which I think made the price of the food go up, but whatever its worth it. The staff is great and make the experience that much better. Been here a few times since moving to the area, and employees where I work are always ordering their lunch from here. I usually order something different every time and never had a bad meal. 9⁄10

Good mexican food, But VERY expensive. Not really sure why, the portions are small, tasty but not amazing to justify the price. I ordered for take out, a chicken burrito(smaller than taco bells burrito), came with rice and beans, also ordered a baby burito for my son(size of taco bells soft taco), came with french fries. And very small bag of chips and small half filled cup of salsa. = $ 30 … Asked for another bag of chips/salsa, + $ 4 … Overall i was satisfied, but still hungry when i was done. I will probably eat there again, however not anytime soon, because of the prices. I always thought mexican food meant huge portions for cheap. If you think about it, main ingredients are dirt cheap beans, rice and lettuce. The cost to make a burrito is probably a dollar, but to charge $ 17 for it doesn’t sit well with me.

Found a PUBICHAIR in my meal the waiter tried to say it was the hair on the corn wrap but I think I can tell a PUBIC hair to a corn hair. The waiter never brought me my sprite I asked 2 times!!! Hahaha wtf also never was brought me refills on my water! I looked in the kitchen to see the cook wasn’t wearing gloves or hair net. WHERESMYSPRITE!!!

Friendly & courteous staff who are always willing to accommodate all guests. Food is prepared to specifications and they accommodate vegetarian(can’t really say Vegan) they do prepare meat and cheese dishes. Guacamole is the best I have had in a long time other than my own. –1 They do not have traditional Mexican drinks like horchata or hibiscus. –1 They charge extra for dressing :(

We decided to try again after a couple bad dishes. Not a good idea. Horrible Tacos– place has gone downhill Overdone beef overcooked chicken. Not worth 15.99. Next time chipotle.

When it comes to Mexican/Spanish restaurants I’m pretty skeptical, for some reason. And with the 3 – 4 star average rating I was somewhat doubtful. However upon entering I knew it was going to be good. The restaurant smelled very home-y. The ambiance of the restaurant was very comfortable and had a lot of Mexican knickknacks hanging from the walls. The restaurant was very clean and spacious. Unlike many restaurants that have a roaring dining room, Aby’s has more of a peaceful hum, along with some calm Spanish/Mex music in the background. On a Saturday night right next to the train station I would expect a load of people flowing through the doors. However, it was comfortably quiet. The food was downright amazing. I ordered the taco salad with chicken and enjoyed every last bit of it. The rest of my party ordered enchiladas, quesadilla al comal, and chimichangas. Like the taco salad, downright amazing. The only thing that we weren’t crazy for was the beans and rice on the side(the taco salad does not come with beans or rice, I tasted them from another plate). Other than that, everything was amazing. We also got nachos as an appetizer, which was phenomenal. Our waitress was very friendly and asked us if we needed anything very often. Service was very fast. Definitely coming back again!!!

Byob. Generous portions. Chicken enchilada was delicious. WARNING. Hot sauce is hot! They have traditional dishes and some unique. Both worth the taste. Come and enjoy. RIGHT outside the matawan train station. Glad we came.

Sorry Unilocal fans no photos. I stopped on election night eve for some tex mex take out. I’ve been hitting this place for years when they were further up main street in the center of town. Consistently good, fast service it’s all there. I must say my portion of rice was a little shy but the meal was very good. FoodDude! Eating my way across the USA! Think I’m gonna need bigger pants.

What a wonderful Mexican Restaurant. I had the Chimichanga Mexicana and it was amazing. Big and very filling. Service was great. Polite and always helpful. Not a long wait for food. And it came out piping hot. It was delicious. Little spot in Matawan that is a great place for everyone. Definitely check it out.
