Rancho Saguaro

My daughter with learning and medical special needs has been riding with Steve and Laura at Rancho for over 6 years. While they do not have any special therapeutic training they are wonderful instructors to her. She rides at other places in the area, but her favorite is Rancho. They are patient, kind, knowledgable, encouraging and thoughtful with their instruction. She has come a long way. Steve and Laura are flexible with her lesson time, with what she wants to accomplish and letting her just hang out at the barn. I cannot say enough about this treasure we have so close to our home in Lafayette. While it might not be the fanciest of barns, my daughter finds it one of the most peaceful and comfortable places she has ever ridden.

Steve and Laura are both great people, the place beautiful, horses are friendly, and I have enjoyed every visit… Been riding for 31 years can’t wait to go back!!!

Written on behalf of my 13 year old sister: I am a beginning rider and I feel very lucky we found this training facility. I work with Steve and he is so nice and patient! (Steve’s wife Laura works with more advanced riders than me.) With Steve’s help I’ve learned so much and improved my riding skills and trust in horses in general.
I am with my Dad (in another city) some weekends and Steve is very nice about adjusting my lesson schedule around my time here in Benicia.
The covered arena is really big so I can ride in all kinds of weather. My mom and I like going out there just to see all the horses and animals (goats, sheep, cats, dogs, etc.) It’s about 20 minutes by car from our house and it’s so pretty on the way.
They do parties and summer camp too and the kids really enjoy them. I really really recommend Rancho Saguaro!

My 8-​year old daughter just completed her first riding camp a couple of weeks ago, and she wants to move into the ranch!
The owners/​trainers demonstrate extraordinary skill in handling horses as well as more challenging beasts — children and teenagers. The facility is spacious and well equipped.
I particularly appreciate that instruction focuses as much on learning to take care of the horse as on riding.

This barn is private, yet full of active riders from all ages. The covered arena and facilities make it easy to ride any time of the year and the trainers are very experienced.
Many options for the beginner to the more talented rider who wishes to learn all about horsemanship.
The trainers are great about sharing upcoming shows and are well prepared to get you up to speed.
Summer camp was fun for my daughters and the occasional days when the kids are off of school — camp is available too! Plenty of ponies and horses to chose from!
