It was great. We made a reservation and we sat at the bar for a drink first. It’s a little loud and warm but the food, wine, and service made me LOVE the Butcher the Baker!

The steamed pork belly buns here are some of the best food I’ve eaten in a very long time. Charcuterie board was a little sparse for the 14 dollar price, but the Loma ham on it melted in my mouth.

Made reservation for four of us for 6:00 pm. Besides the 2 starters we each ordered a different entrée. All were delicious and cooked perfectly. An added bonus was that Alton Brown was also a guest that evening. Topped off the perfect dinner.

Excellent cocktails prepared by Brittney, pairs perfectly with the creative farm-table menu and amazing baked goods.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. We had the Mahi and Sirloin and both cleaned our plates. Everything tasted so fresh and was well seasoned. We will definitely be back and will bring friends next time! Well done, The Baker The Butcher! Keep it up!

If you are looking for a unique place in Marietta this is an excellent choice. When they first opened we did not venture in because the menu did not appear to be something we’d be interested in(or even understood!). Once we finally tried it we were sold and have gone back repeatedly. The tapas are fantastic! We usually just sit at the bar and go though a bunch of them. They change often which adds to the fun. Great service, staff and atmosphere. They do require reservations and fill up early. A testament to how well they are liked.

Let me first start by saying this was the third time we ate at B&B, and the two previous times we sat at the bar. We had great food and great service, but this time was a terrible disappointment. We started the evening at the bar for a drink with the rest of our party. My husband ordered a Makers on the rocks, and when the bartender poured it, he ran out which left the drink obviously short. When we commented on the pour, he said«we pour a 2oz. pour» Ok, great, but this was like a 1 oz. pour. I have been a bartender for 20 years, I know what a proper drink looks like. Also, several of the wines we asked for were 86’d, even to the point where we had one glass of a bottle and when we re-ordered, we were told they ran out and we had to re-select. This happened about three times. When we got to the table, it was a nice big table with a bench, but they have trivia next door at their sister restaurant, so all you could hear was the announcer over the mic ALL night. We asked for some music to drown out the noise, which I can only equate to a high school football game. the restaurants are separated by a hole filled barn door, which does nothing to buffer the noise. B&B is only open Wed-Sat, why they would have something like this on one of their only open nights baffles me. Our table shared several appetizers, the farm egg, the bun, the green salad, all were delicious, The server, Maddie(sp), was nice, and pretty informative, UNTIL, she didn’t write down our order. She had to come back to the table to re-check what my husband ordered(sirloin) and when the food came out, my girlfriend who ordered the duck breast, had the sirloin in front of her(we all ordered different entrees so we could share). When my friend stated hers was incorrect, the server promptly took the steak back, but in the meantime of re-cooking her entrée, we all finished ours, the manager came by and cleared all of our plates, so when her duck finally showed up, she got to sit there and eat her entrée alone. The server and the manager were apologetic, but the most bizarre thing about the end of our meal was, the server was audibly sobbing to the hostess in the front corner of the restaurant right next to our table on two separate occasions. After the mistake was made at the table, she no longer engaged. She literally dropped off our checks and ran, picked them up and ran, it was so odd. The manager comped the duck and brought out a dessert plate, but our portion of the bill was $ 150(we picked up all the apps), but this place is expensive and the experience was embarrassing. I was so happy to have found this spot, since we just moved up here from downtown, but I don’t think we will be back. There is too much competition for something like this to happen, and I just feel cheated out of a meal that I paid good money for. Sorry, B& B

Recommended by a neighbor we decided to try this place. The service was good and the food was outstanding. However on the negative side: Limited menu and the Bar ran out of stock of a couple of our selections(Bourbon & Wine) after the first round. One of our guests entrée didn’t arrive until the rest of us had finished… probably 15 mins., late. However it was comp’d as well as dessert. Not sure what the problem was as they were not busy. Also, all during our dinner it was quite noisy as other business next door was having Trivia Night. I would suggest that since The Butcher The Baker is only open Wed., thru Sat., they move the Trivia Night to some other night such as Monday or Tuesday. For all of that I only gave it 3 stars, but we’ll give it another try though.

Love the atmosphere of this place. Great wine selection. We had the kimchi farm egg, pork bao buns, and shrimp fennel dish to start. All were on the smaller side for appetizers but they were packed with big flavors! The kimchi egg with puffed rice was spicy, had a good kick to it, but the focus was mostly on the egg with chive kimchi, I wish there was more rice. The(fried) pork bun dish came with two bao buns and pickled vegetables. It was filling. For dessert we had the crumble cake. Everything tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly. Will definitely come back before my trip ends to try one of their entrees.

Everything is local and fresh. Sausage made on site. Great beer and wine selection. Service was fast and friendly. Great date spot. Steak Tartare was great. 1 of the top spots in Marietta.

If you’re vegan or vegetarian there isn’t much on their menu for you, but they will accommodate with a vegetable plate that is excellent. The bread is great, and the deserts are tasty, if a bit small for the price. It’s not cheap, and you’ll need a reservation, but the food tastes great if this is the level of restaurant pricing for which you aim.

I have no complaints on the food, but alas I cannot return to this restaurant due to budget concerns. If you have the money and enjoy fresh food, you def need to come here. The owners are wonderful, always around and checking on their customers. The food is creative and well constructed with good flavor. The wine selection is fair, but again, too rich for my blood. I gave it two stars because there are other farm to table restaurants that are also tasty but less expensive.

We went here with a friend and his wife who live in Marietta, who recommended it. We had an amazing time. We got there early for our reservation and sat at the bar. As stated in other reviews, Britney was great. She creates custom cocktails and is a great resource for what is good on the menu. Lee set our table up early, and was very casual about when we sat. We started with the crab fritters, amazing! One in our party got a full vegetable plate that wasn’t on the menu, so if you want veggies, ask for it, it was an monster plate of goodness. Goat ravioli, and Dover sole were big hits. Great place, and staff.

From the moment you’re greeted until you dab the corners of your mouth at the end of your meal, it’s an amazing experience. Brittany at the bar is a delight, crafting one of a kind cocktails, knows not only what’s behind the bar, she also knows exactly what’s going on in the kitchen. Annie was our server. Attentive, knowledgeable. Very friendly. I’ve always had a fantastic meal here. While the entrees are a priced a little higher than what else is offered on The Square, it’s worth every penny. There is nothing else like it in a 10 mile radius. Recommend: Come early!!! They fill up quickly, so make that reservation!

We decided to try this place after hearing about it for a year on a Saturday night. We arrived at 9:20 pm and were promptly shown to a table. The restaurant was full but not overly loud. Casual, rustic décor belied the amazing food waiting for us. We had the field greens salad with pickled blueberries that was refreshing and a surprisingly substantial portion for an Appetizer. We also tried the seafood broth with octopus, shrimp and daikon with noodles. The dish was hardy without being overly salty. There was a slight tang in the broth to balance the richness of the broth. The only thing that could have made it bette was for the shrimp to be less cooked. Entrees were a little mixed. They were out of monkfish so we got the steelhead trout instead. The fish was cooked to perfection with a slight crunch on the outside and moist on the inside. My dinner partner loved it but as I am not a fan of trout, I found it not spiced enough to cover the fishy taste of trout. I had the goat ravioli with chèvre, Brussel sprouts and shiitake mushrooms. Every bite was mouthful of scrumptiousness. The chèvre balanced the richness of the pasta. The sprouts gave each bite crunch. Finally. We tried the peach dessert. Do not miss dessert. Ever. We will be back.

We stumbled on this place looking for the old Sympatico and Willie Rae’s. They were pretty busy and the projected wait was 45 minutes without a reservation. But the wonderful hostess offered to help us get in quicker as the kitchen was catching up if we waited 20 minutes for a table for two. I would like to say it was worth the wait but not sure I will return. The waiter left us stranded too long. I love the farm to table concept but the menu was short and I found little cuisine of interest. We decided on 4 different apps or tapas as they might sell them. Very disappointing in size and the prices are way too inflated. The meat & cheese platter left a lot to be desired. I was however very pleased with the pork belly with pas and berries and Thai sausage if extremely small in size. The atmosphere is loud. The décor is nice. Small space. I miss the cranberry and goat cheese stuffed burrito from WR.

Amazing food, the chicken was so juicy, the beef cheeks were so flavorful, the gratin turnip and sweet potatoes were so sweet! Can’t say enough. The chocolate, butternut squash and caramel was to die for! We will be back. The service could have been faster when we arrived, wine could have been flowing sooner, with some of that amazing focaccia bread that was melt in your mouth! The flat bread pizza with venison sausage was really tasty!

Given the Unilocal reviews we tried The Butcher the Baker for the first time. Initially the ability to reserve seats online through Unilocal was amazing and worked wonderfully. From arrival to departure The Butcher the Baker was amazing. The greet staff was very polite, our waitress was wonderful and was able to provide great recommendations and tell us about events happening in the square. The food was top notch. I’m not an adventurous eater so I was a bit terrified by the small menu. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was extremely good and the portions were perfect. The complimentary bread was also fantastic. We completed the night with a couple of cocktails and were not disappointed. Both drinks were great, I had the Graduate and I can’t remember what my wife had. To summarize, a fantastic place and definitely worth a visit. I couldn’t be more pleased by the experience.

Ya know, we enjoyed ourselves. Im not sure this lives up to the hyperbolic reviews some have posted, but if you’re going to a show on the square and you’re wearing heels, this is your place. The décor is really charming, and our booth was comfortable. Antique farm baskets and other such rustic pretties adorn the walls. There is plenty of interest to look at. But the menu itself is quite interesting. Lots of tempting and unusual creations — props to chef for creativity without pretentious cheffiness. We got the charcuterie. It was lovely to behold — lots of little dabs of different homemade mustards and pickles. It was fun exploring all the combinations of bites. Meat, pickle, mustard. The sausages disappointed us though. None was cured. One was VERY liver-y(and I like pâté). The textures were very loose. But we very much enjoyed the chicken rilletes and all the pickly morsels. So if you’re into sausage, your taste might really match this, while ours didn’t. It was different from your usual charcuterie and obviously chosen with care. Entrees really shone. I saw duck breast with fiddleheads and stopped reading. There was no doubt I was getting that. Hubs got the trout. Both were excellent and we couldn’t decide which was better. The orecchiette pasta with the trout was scrumpdillyicious. The trout itself was flaky and moist. My duck had a thin crispy fat layer, perfectly medium rare meat, and wonderful texture. It was a ducky duck with that little edge of gaminess. I was thrilled(no hyperbole, I’m serious) to see those fiddleheads. It’s the first time I’ve had them at a restaurant, I seem to miss out every year and I’ve always wanted to try them.(One year I ordered them on line, but I wasn’t sure if I cooked them properly.) my only beef(hee) with the duck was that it needed a sauce with a tad of acid. The peas were quite fresh on it and added a nice crunch. There was a tiny dab of a green sauce that I didn’t think added to the party. For dessert, we got sorbet. It was far too sweet but I nice ending nonetheless. I love herb sorbets and ice cream, so I couldn’t resist the basil. Service was friendly but not quite sophisticated enough for the price point. Dirty dishes stayed on the table far too long, often left behind. The mustard that fell off the charcuterie platter stayed in the table throughout dessert. And no, kolsch is not the Budweiser of Germany. Don’t say that. You’ll enjoy yourself here.

My friends and I dined here as part of our highlight meal for our Marietta Square Progressive Dinner. After hearing all the great things about this place, I was excited to give it a try! The interior of the restaurant is quiet, dark, and quaint, a perfect setting for a date. With our reservation, we were seated right away. Between the four of us, we decided to order a punch bowl to share. The punch bowl comes out in a barrel and is packed with ice – so much so that we requested a couple of empty cups to empty out most of the ice so it wouldn’t melt before we could finish the bowl. The punch bowl is a good deal but it wasn’t the most delicious, so I would only mildly recommend ordering this. On to the food! We decided to order a few small plates to share and because the menu changes daily, I’ll spare you the details but you can take a look at my pictures for a feel of our meal. My favorite? The complimentary tomato focaccia and sweet butter at the beginning of the meal. and Overall, the food was great but not exceptional, however, all the ingredients were obviously very fresh. While this place might stand out in Marietta, it might have trouble competing with the similar restaurants in the same price range just minutes away in the city. Also, the service we experienced here could definitely be improved. Our server struggled with knowledge of the menu, from being able to describe the size of our punch bowl to serving the vegetarian at our table bacon bits in her salad when we requested no bacon dressing. I would definitely recommend giving this cute restaurant a try, the food is delicious, but there’s a couple notches of improvement to get to 5 star quality.
