Maplewood Pizza has been going strong for 30 years now. No one probably appreciates them as much as the hungry students from Columbia HS right across the street, but I have come to admire them for what they are and I’m a fan, too. This is not a fancy pants, artisan, best-pizza-list-ranking kind of spot. This is a tried and true pizzeria that kicks it old school, and makes a really good slice. Reminds me of the stuff I grew up on, which is basically the NY-style thin crust variety. So far, I’ve tried their regular, pepperoni, sausage and white slices. All were really satisfying, with a nice crust, savory sauce, and excellent proportions of cheese and toppings. They are also a full service Italian restaurant, offering salads, sandwiches, pastas, seafood and other various entrée selections. They do catering as well, which I have enjoyed at some local gatherings around town. Overall, this is just a solid place. Service is always fast and friendly, prices are fair and I keep coming back!

Good pizza, wings were pretty good too! One suggestion I would make us to clean the tables behind each customer. We came in on a slow day and most tables had crumbs

Delicious food and incredibly friendly staff. You feel like family when you’re here. Chicken wings are amazing. So happy that we tried this place after living here for four years. Won’t go anywhere else.

Great loal spot that’s been around since forever! Not coal fired but its still a great pizzeria. The dough is light and flaky. Love their zeppoles!

I’m usually not a fan of buffalo chicken pizza but Maplewood pizzeria make a very delicious one with tiny cut up pieces of buffalo chicken with plenty of cheese all over it. The crust is spectacular not to soft yet not to crispy completing the deliciousness of that pizza. Only downside is it can get busy and as good as the service is sometimes it can get hectic.

Good slice of pizza. Can be VERY busy because of the school across the street. Pizza slices over all have been amazing. The steak sandwich was just okay, I’d stick with some of the delicious pizza slices. Service is always great!

This place has been here for a very long time. I even remember when the were in another building down the street. I love the plain(and yes not everywhere has good plain slices) and I also love the white slices. This is hands down my favorite place to get zeppoles. A lot of places do an absolute terrible job. One thing I will say is that they are kind of stingy with the powdered sugar these days and prices have gone up, but so has the cost of everything else.

OK, so I’m only giving 3 stars because I was Looking for a more rustic pizza. I ordered a 14″ Margharita pie. The delivery time wasn’t too bad. My pie was NOT the hottest I’ve ever had. The sauce is a Tad bland for my tastes and I’m still confused as to why we’re chopping the Basil… seriously! But, for local pizza, it wasn’t that bad. I’m sure there are better pizza joints in town. But for local delivery, they’ll do. And it’s better than El Grecos!

I’m updating my review. MP has continued to decline over the past year, now by my accounting a three-years-long slide into mediocrity, or worse. Reminding, my last delivered pizza was not only a liquid ooze in the middle, unable to be scraped off the cardboard box, as-if baked in a Suzy Homemaker Oven, it wasn’t even sliced. MP has a great business location, an easy in/out by car, since not downtown, and right across the street from the high school. They seem to have adopted a business model that HS kids can be worked over so much that nothing else matters. MP are easily the worst pizza place in the SO/MW area.

I have been ordering from Maplewood Pizza for ten years. I typically have my order delivered. I called today at 12:11 placed my order for a Large Pie with one topping(nothing extravagant). At 12:54 I called back since the delivery guy hadn’t arrived yet. The man who answered the phone explained to me that the pizza delivery guy had four orders before me and that my order was going out. At 1:20 I still did not have a pizza. So, I called back to cancel the order. The same man says, he’s on his way. I said well it’s okay I’m cancelling. He then says, well I’m going to have to put you on the Black List and we won’t deliver to you anymore. I said WHAT?! I order from you all the time. He says«I KNOW». I then explained that when I called in the first time he should have told me that it would take over an hour to deliver the pizza, now I’m being threatened with with putting me on a black list. He continued to speak over me. I finally said, you are not the only Pizza guys in town. Roman Gourmet delivers. His response, fine fine. So I hung up. I order from this place at least 3 – 5 times per month, and this is their response after it takes almost an hour and a half to get a no frills pizza. That’s pathetic. Being rude and nasty to a customer who has been ordering frequently is just really bad business. Being rude and nasty to any customer is really bad. This isn’t my first horror story with them, but this is the first time I complained. They once delivered the wrong pizza, came back with the right one and when I asked what they were going to to with the first pizza… the delivery guy responded. Sell slices of it. Please keep in mind that I had already taken two slices from that pie.(and yes, even after that, I continued to order from them.) They don’t have to worry about my business anymore.

Have ordered delivery before and they came to our address since we are just within their area and they always have to be reminded that they will deliver to us. Normally it’s great but tonight they went to the wrong town so it took extra time and the pizza was limp and soggy. The fries were the greasiest things in the world and we got 4 chicken fingers not 5. Is it really so hard?

This has been our go-to pizza for the last 10 years or so. Good red sauce. Quick delivery. They now have a nice gluten-free pizza option. I’ve had it a few times and the last time was the best — I asked for a little extra sauce and cheese, and it was very tasty! Probably the best GF pie in town(and now we have a lot to choose from!). It’s a nice medium/individual size, I usually have a few slices left over.

Decent pizza for delivery. Very fresh veggie pizza. Their pizzas consistently arrive hot and fresh. However, compared with other places(namely Arturo’s), their pizza is only so-so. That they deliver is a real plus. But they could improve on the quality if the crust and cheese.

I arrived early to pick up our pizza last week and realized why the pizza is so inconsistent as other reviewers have noted. The staff behind the counter spends way too much time conversing with one another and not enough time on the pizza. Someone needs to get them organized. We order every Thursday and some weeks the pizza is great and other weeks it is undercooked. One week the onions are cut into perfect small pieces and the next week the onions are in huge inedible chunks. Its on my husband’s way home and there’s never a problem finding parking, but we will probably give up and return to Roman Gourmet if the quality issues continue.

Super bummed to have to give so few stars to a place I initially loved so much(see glowing Dave B. review by my hubs), but they’ve seriously dropped the ball every time I’ve ordered from them since then. 9 times out of 10 they have run out of my beloved whole wheat crust — the main reason I go there at all — and they even have sent me on my way with a half burnt pie. They’re also oddly inaccurate in their time estimates. Inevitably we have to wait 10 minutes or more after the 20 minute time they quote. Last time they were just putting our pie in the oven when we walked in 20 minutes after ordering — and it was clearly a slow night. I adore their whole wheat crust, but might have to stop going there since they so rarely have it, and when they do it’s either burnt or seriously delayed.

I just moved here from New York City, ostensibly home of the world’s best pizza, but I gotta tell ya: This pizza is better than anything I ever had in my 12 years in NYC. I just finished eating my third slice and had to stop and write this review because it was that good. Based on recommendations I read here, I veered from my usual pizza path and got a whole wheat pizza with the meatball topping and holy cow was it delicious. Perfect ratio of sauce to cheese to topping to crust; crust a perfect balance of crispy(at the end of the crust) and chewy(on the«body» of the pizza). I might have to eat here every day!

I thought this was a really solid pizza place. Locally owned spot with an old school vibe serving up ny style slices. The pizza is above average thin style pizza. Good cheese, good grease levels on the pepperoni slice. Maybe a little light on the sauce, but it tasted good. I thought the crust was exceptional. Thin with a crispy outer shell and a chewy inside. Very nice. This is some of the better pizza I’ve found in this area.
