The young lady blew out my hair so good I was smiling from ear to ear. She was quick and got me out in good timing. I am natural and very rarely get my hair straighten so for it to have been a year plus on my hair begin straighten she did an amazing job!

I been here a couple of times. there is only one person working here all the time. So you’ll find yourself spending at least 3 hours getting your hair done. And the last time I went she burn the crap out of me. And she didn’t even say she was sorry! After this I never return.

I came strolling into this salon 12:30pm on a Sunday prepared for anything and not leaving without a blowout. Primarily spanish speaking beauty salon/barbershop technicians who are friendly but not chatty. It’s on the small side but cozy. I was washed within 10mins, then waited 35 for my blowdry. They were fairly busy, but worked at a good clip. I always skip the rollers, and ask for the blow dry since it saves time and I know how to get body and curls at home. I saw many different nationalities waiting, they seem to do all types of hair. I was gently blow dried, no burning. I was quoted $ 35 and then asked for $ 40. I’m natural with long hair so expected this would happen. They did a great job and are definitely worth a visit :-).

So, my sister and I were in the area for a wedding and needed something done to our naturally thick hair however, we didn’t want to spend anything ridiculous since the wedding is super low key. Anyway, thanks to Unilocal we found this place not to far away from us and walked in. they were not busy(just 2 women inside) and immediately began to do our hair… over the phone they quoted $ 17 for a wash n set but, once we got there it became $ 5 more for conditioner and then once completed it changed to $ 25? It wasn’t a lot but, they definitely didn’t make it clear about the price differences(especially since my hair is barely collar bone length and my sister’s is cut into a Mohawk)… anyway I’m giving them 4 stars because they weren’t the most chatty(even though they were nice) and because we were both burnt a couple times with the dryer(nothing permanent) however, our hair turned out bone straight with lots of body so it was definitely worth $ 25.

Stopped by for regular wash and set. The place was empty when i got there, so they quickly washed my hair and as soon as i finished, Rafaela(prob misspelled) put me in her chair and did a great job. 4 stars is for she burned me a couple of times with the blow dryer. But if you can handle the heat, she does a fabulous job. They charged me $ 25, which is usually the price for long hair.

I was at City College and decided to find a hair salon in the area. I searched on Unilocal and found this place. I walked in and the place was completely empty which made me hesitate since most Dominican salons are usually packed. I decided to take a chance on this place because the price was pretty cheap. I’m extremely picky about letting anyone do my hair so I was a bit nervous. Marisol was also not very chatty but she was nice enough. She was the only employee there so she washed my hair herself and blow dried it. It worked out since I was the only customer but I would imagine this may be an issue if there are several customers at the same time. I was pleasantly surprised at how good my hair came out. Another plus was that she didn’t burn my scalp.

I have very thick long natural hair and it’s really hard for me to find salons(black or Dominican) that are not intimidated by how much hair I have. I really note how my hair is combed, conditioned, and cut and Marisell and Mariella(sp?) really took their time on my hair. This’ll likely be my go-to Dominican-hair spot since I just moved to the neighborhood, and Marisell was nice also. I only gave it 4 stars because, like all Dominican salons, you’ll be there for awhile so pack a snack and a book. Oh, they also have a coupon where if you go 4x you get $ 10 off the 5th time. :-)
