Great delivery food. Usually very fresh ingredients and fast delivery times. The garlic sauce is awesome as are the fried dumplings. Order after 7pm or before 2pm. That is when the food seems the freshest and the service is the best.

Ehhh. It started OK. The dumplings are definitely hand-made. The chow fun was standard but not too greasy. The BBQ pork was what it was. But then, fast forward 3 hours in my life and… DRYMOUTH. They use MSG. So it’s a no-go for the merlin c sho’.

First, I want to thank my fellow Unilocalers for the good reviews and recommendations! I was craving Chinese food, but I was scared of trying any of the restaurants around. I recently moved from Fordham, BX to be more specific and we have been eating from the franchise Panda, which is really good by the way. So I started looking for a Chinese food take-out type of place because Amy’s seen to be kind of expensive and the delivery guy has an attitude,(according to almost every single review from there) it was Friday and I didn’t want to ruined it. So, to make this review shorter I had the General T’so Shrimp! OMG!!! That was delicious, the veg. fried rice was yummy! Not greasy at all, I had an egg roll no greasy! And delicious, and spring roll! Man! Everything was so good and made with love!(I could feel it) I recommend my wife to get food from them today because of my great experience and the fact that she didn’t call me to complain about the food means that they deserve 5 stars!!! Keep it up owner if you ready this review! *Dumplings you are next!

I love this Chinese spot. I’ve always ordered from different spots because they were closer and grub hub/seamless didn’t exist so I honestly didn’t even know about this spot. Fast forward to today and I’m SO glad I found it. The food is always fresh and bright and colorful and tasty. And best of all INEXPENSIVE! One time my delivery did get mixed up with another order so I called and the guy who picked up was really nice and apologized and sent me the correct order right away. I got to keep the order that they sent wrongfully. So hey! I call that a win :)

Super helpful and super nice every time I call for delivery or show up at the place to take an order home. I used to order from U-Like since i live closer to 207th St but i make the extra effort to order from Lotus all the time because of their service and the taste of their food!

I just ordered delivery for the first time from Lotus Express and everything came hot, fresh and tasty, roughly a 25−30min wait on a Tuesday evening(not bad). As suggested in other reviews, I ordered the steamed shrimp dumplings and they were great! In addition, the vegetable lo mein– though pretty basic, it was good but not too special. Lastly, I also ordered the chicken broccoli with white rice, I like that I could request all white meat chicken breast, so I was happy! I’m super picky and hate when I receive mixed dark and white mean chicken. All in all, for the Chinese food options available in the area(with delivery option) I was very happy with my order and will definitely be ordering again. The food was flavored well and the fresh tasting dumplings were such a treat!

Best Chinese delivery spot in Inwood. I’ve been loving me some sesame noodles and broccoli with garlic sauce since I was a kid and they do it some justice. Also adore their sesame beef. We grub-hub this place at least once a week. Food is always good and delivery is quick.

Super fast delivery!!! I live half a mile away and get my food in under 20 minutes usually. My usual go to spot is Amy’s for Chinese food, but Lotus is just as good. The fast delivery is great for when I am starving and impatient. Food is typical Chinese take out style that isn’t exactly authentic but it is delicious for what it is. Everything is flavorful and nothing too greasy or salty, like many other spots in the neighborhood.

Why didn’t I know about this place? I can officially say Lotus express is my new GOTO chinese takeout place. I’ve ordered numerous times through grubhub and the food has always been fresh, cooked to perfection and consistently delicious!

Excellent storefront Chinese takeout! Amy’s is my favorite for fancier dishes but Lotus Express is my new favorite for cheaper storefront stuff. The couple of generic dishes we’ve tried like General Tso’s have been better than the other local joints — very fresh and high quality. But the real stars here so far are the homemade dumplings. Try the steamed shrimp dumplings and fried pork dumplings. Very fresh — very good! The people who run this place are super nice too.

Let’s be clear — this is a cheap Chinese place, in the best sense. I grew up in New York to a mother who could not cook and a Jewish stepfather. I ate a lot of local Chinese food long before the concept of authentic cuisine was popular. I’ve developed a love and appreciation for cheap Chinese food and consider a neighborhood restaurant essential, though I am often disappointed. Not with this place. If you want subtle, nuanced flavors, this is not the place. If you want a spicy, sweet flavor explosion, try Lotus Express on for size. They are friendly, quick, and could feed you for a week for $ 30. I moved away from the neighborhood nearly a year ago, and I still miss it.

Very hard working and friendly folks at Lotus especially considering all the BS they deal with on a daily. FYI– there is no authentic Chinese food on the menu BUT the food they make is pretty tasty. My número uno is the homemade dumplings. The garlic soy sauce it comes with is finger licking. I also like the Chinese omelette with shrimp. PS — they don’t recycle but that does not mean you do not need to. Also if and when you can request not to get the plastic forks and sauces!

I ordered Szechuan shrimp with shrimp fried rice. It was just shrimp with lots of vegetables and not very spicy. It was basically shrimp and broccoli. Delivery was good and they didn’t mess up my order this time. They gave me two sodas but no straws. Overall good was good and cheap.

One of the better Chinese takeout in the area here. However I’d stay clear of the authentic Chinese dishes such as Szechuan chicken. Not because its not good, but because its something else. Food is very good here actually. I ordered Szechuan chicken and all it was just chicken with broccoli that was just a tad more spicy. It was good nevertheless. All other typical Chinese food is very good here and I will stick to that primarily. Delivery is quick also and food is hot and exactly what you ordered without any screw ups or surprises here.

The ever-reliable Lotus Express is Inwood’s best Chinese restaurant. Don’t be fooled by anyone else claiming otherwise. You may find prices better somewhere else(although I doubt it), but you won’t find better service, better food and faster delivery. The best things on the menu: –Cheese Wontons(a steal at $ 4.50 for 8) –Pork Fried Rice –Steamed Chicken with either broccoli or string beans, with sauce on the side(a pint for only $ 5.20!) –Sweet and Sour Chicken This is no-frills Chinese delivery at its best. When the craving hits, don’t look any further than Lotus Express(and certainly don’t order from the obscenely expensive and over-hyped Amy’s).

I’ve been in Inwood for close to five months now, and I had yet to try any Chinese places. Back in WaHi, I was pretty loyal to my precious No. 1 Chinese Restaurant on 181st, and I had seen Lotus Express diagonal from my street corner. I wasn’t quite ready to break up with my former Chinese spot after four plus years together, even if the relationship had become long distance.(Read = 21 blocks away.) Last night, the beau wanted Chinese and offered to pick it up at Lotus. I obliged, asked him to get me my typical«safe» meal(chicken and broccoli with brown rice), plus some dumplings. Folks, let me tell you: these dumplings rival some of the best I’ve had in Chinatown! The beau said he talked to the owner, who claims to make the dumplings(and EAT the dumplings) every single day. After the first bite, I was in love! The meat was tender with little flecks of onions and scallions. Had I not already been stuffed with half of my entrée, I could have eaten all 8 by myself. The chicken and broccoli was pretty damn good itself, and the owner was nice enough to through in two free egg rolls and an extra Sprite. I found my Inwood spot for Chinese! So pleased!

I recently moved into the area and had another really terrible Chinese place closer to my apartment, but decided that my fellow Unilocalies probably could help me find one that would be good. This places is nice for a quick pick-up or delivery. The people really were super friendly. Food was ready in about 12 minutes on a Monday evening. I ordered the fried pork dumplings because of what I read here and they were SO good. There were bits of onion and they were flavorful! Highly recommended. I ordered my favorite, beef mei fun — it’s not bad. There are some veggies in it, which, in my experience, is unusual. It’s a little low on flavor, though. There’s no way they could have stuffed more food in that takeout box. So much! I look forward to visiting Lotus Express again!

Just moved to the Heights, recommended by a friend to try Lotus for Chinese and now I’m a regular. I usually order, fast service, regular Chinese prices, food quality is really good. I enjoy my cheese wontons, general tso and egg rolls. Always and consistently really good. If you’re in the area, this has to be your go to spot.
