I moved to the upper east side a little over a year ago and was on the hunt for a dependable dry cleaners — I found such a place at Gracie Mansion cleaners. My fiancée and I use the dry cleaning and laundering services regularly and are always satisfied with the result. The owner does a good job of assessing the clothes to determine which type of cleaning would work best. We trust his judgment and he has never let us down. He is also great at rush requests. I recently had Gracie Mansion take in a silk gown that I bought. After the alterations, the gown fit very well. This was an expensive gown and I didn’t want to trust it to just anyone. The owner made me feel very comfortable and assured me that everything would turn out well — and it did! I am happy to have these guys in my neighborhood!

Strongly warn against this place. My first takeway was that the owner was offputting and unpleasant but I patroned due to proximity. I overlooked the fact that although same day laundry was promised by 5 and sometimes it wouldn’t be ready by then. I also overlooked when no remorse, apology, or concession was made on that account. I will not overlook the fact that they stained a garment and refuse to take responsibility. I also cannot forgive the losing of garments either. Both of which I have been victim of, as echoed in the reviews before my own. Throw in the relatively higher prices and it suffices to say I will no longer give them my business.

Been going here for two years. Agreed with a lot of the comments below about price and some damage but that’s every dry cleaner in NYC. Big pro for me is the customer service as I’m often in a rush. Andy at the front desk is great.

There’s definitely a pro-con thing here happening. The pro is that Gracie’s does a good job on most of what I’ve brought them, both dry cleaning and laundry. The cons — which are significant — are a) they are expensive, and b) they’ve damaged people’s laundry/clothes. To point b), they’ve made amends for that damage, so while I’m not jazzed about the prospect of my stuff being damaged, I do give them props for at least being responsible and owning up and standing behind their service.

Forget all my prior reviews. I’m an idiot for ever going back to this place. They have done more damage to my dry cleaning than I care to remember. Now they have done the same damage to 6 items in EXACTLY the same spot on all 6 items! They refused to take responsiblity. RUN do not walk from these robbers. You’ve been warned!

I’ve been dropping off my laundry here for about 6 – 7 months. So far, no real issues. They do a good enough job with basic laundry, though they refuse to wash and hang-dry my non-iron shirts(which can’t be dry-cleaned). This is annoying, but it’s a result of them doing all the drying at a third-party facility. The few things I did ask them to hem or alter, they did a good job with. The prices are a bit on the high side, I think, but not enough for me to schlep another block. The place directly across from them looks dirty, and isn’t any cheaper. The hours are annoying, like the other reviewers have stated. 7pm closing time and not being open on Sundays is bastardly, by Manhattan standards. I found a work-around to the early close times by pre-paying and then having them drop my laundry off at the bodega next door, which is open 24 hours. CC minimum is $ 10 and they don’t take AMEX.

This used to be my go-to dry cleaning spot and tailor. Not anymore. Their prices are higher than average NYC prices, their hours terrible, and their customer service is horrible. Prime example: they say they’re open from 7am to 7pm(which, if you live/work in Manhattan you realize it’s hard to do anything within these hours without a doorman) M-F, and they say their open until 5PM on Saturdays. I showed up at 4:50pm on a Saturday to a man locking the gate of the store. I asked what time they closed, to which he said apathetically, «5pm. Sorry dude, come back Monday at 7am.» WHAT?! If your advertised hours are until 5PM, stay open to until 5PM. If you don’t feel like staying open past 4:30, then put that on your signage. Their prices… to dry clean a coat, hem a pair of pants, and cut three patches for jeans was 60 dollars. Not bad, but you can probably get that done for ½ the price at any other dry cleaner on the block. The dry cleaners directly across from my apartment is open until 9PM every single day. I think I’ll give them a shot next time. They also don’t lock the metal gate to their store front before 9PM. Ever.
