This place is AUsome… I called late to order my cake, but the hotel clerk had mentioned us and the lady made the cake without question. Wow, great hospitality, small hometown feeling in the big city. She even included the candles complimentary.

Ordered my wedding cake and sons 1st birthday cake from here. They are so friendly and the cakes were to die for. The cookies here are the best in the area too.

Wow! What a slice of baking perfection. I went in there to get a last minute birthday cake for a co-worker that doesn’t like chocolate(right?!). I purchased the vanilla blueberry with zero expectation. I was surprised at the cost… I thought it would be $ 65 plus but it was under $ 25. The best part… not kidding… the most amazing cake I have ever had. I don’t think I like chocolate anymore. Yes, it was that good. I’m looking forward to trying more as everything there looked delicious! Great job.

Ordered a cake to celebrate dual birthdays and it came out better than I could have expected! I changed the picture on Laura three times but she was always so gracious and accommodating about it. Flavor was vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream frosting and, oh my gosh, it’s soooo good! I will definitely be back.

I’m a fan! It’s an adorable bakeshop in Manhattan Beach and very fitting in the MB culture. I got the Big Oreo cookie and it was delicious! The cookies actually tasted like Oreo cookies and the frosting was sweet but NOTOVERLY sweet, which sometimes gets to me. My friend got the ginger molasses cookie and loved it. The selection is small but the quality is great. The prices are a little pricey for the baked goods(oreo cookie = $ 3, would be better if it were $ 2 for buying in larger quantities). The staff is super friendly. No huge complaints here, will come back often!

I have ordered 4 custom cakes, cookies and cupcakes for 4 different occasions in the last 2 months from Laura. She has been an absolute pleasure to work with. She is very talented and takes pride in what she does. She does everything to make sure the customer is always satisfied. I have been very impressed with her, and everything we have ordered has tasted delicious! I had 50 people for my sons 1st Birthday and we had surfboard cookies, cupcakes and a tiered cake and everyone commented how awesome everything looked and tasted. I had a cake made for my Neice for her university acceptance and it was perfect! I had one made for my fiancé and his mothers birthday just today and it was the cutest cake ever! Waves, sand, plumerias, seashells… So cute! I didn’t want to cut into it even! Thank you Laura, they were perfect! We will definitely use you for our next cake needs!

I stumbled on this gem 2 years ago and cant believe I haven’t placed a review for it. Laura the owner, is amazing. Small batch, from scratch creations. I have tried so many things… it’s hard to not smile when thinking of CAKE Bakeshop. Located on Highland a few blocks north of Rosecrans, this tiny local shop(she can walk to work) is one of my favorites. Being an avid baker at home, I appreciate the work and dedication it takes to turn out consistent baked goods… you can’t miss like cooking and mask it… So why 5 stars? Great question, lets break it down. Cookies — I never stop in without buying a few salted chocolate chip cookies. They are just BOMB. They have a great Gluten Free cookie and I have a soft spot for the Almond Choc Chip. Best part, most of the cookies are $ 1… wait… say what? $ 1 for a cookie from a bakery in Manhattan Beach… If I was Laura, I’d bump the single cookie price but discount the dozen back to $ 1 each. Pies — I’ve ordered several pies for the holidays when I don’t want to bake. Homemade without the work is great. The pumpkin and apple were both excellent. I know I ordered a third but can’t recall. Cakes — We’ve ordered two for birthdays. Both custom, made to order and exactly what we asked for. Having a friend who graduated culinary school, the little fondant decorations they made were a hit. Goodies — They have a giant oreo that is the delish… the wawa cookie is a favorite for everyone too. I have it as a goodie cause it’s more than a cookie, lol. Also have enjoyed the coffee cake and brownies. I have not tried to cupcakes, but she has a selection of them as well as other seasonal treats. And you can even get something for your pooch. Last week, I purchased a few boxes of «dozen» cookie assortments to give as gifts at a Starbucks I frequent and a Valet at the hotel I use often. Rave reviews from both groups… they definitely have something for everyone. All in all, love the the true small business feel and love supporting local business.

Decided to give this shop a try once more with another friend who shares my sentiments but, disappointed once again. I want to like this cute little bakeshop but the few times I have been here, I have never been satisfied with anything I have gotten(coffee cake, cookies, cupcakes). The taste is lacking for the cost of these baked goods.

We got doughnuts and salted chocolate chip cookies today. Both were so delicious and reminded me of treats that the old Helms Man used to bring in his big yellow truck. Doughnuts were light as air and vanilla glazed. The vanilla was pure and true vanilla, not flavored. The cookie was perfectly flavored, crunchy, with a pinch of salt. We can’t wait to come back!

Hard to give a 5-star rating based on eating 2 cookies, but they were very tasty! I’ll give the benefit of the doubt that the rest of the goodies were as good as they looked. I tried the chocolate chip and pecan and the chocolate chip and almond.(I kind of like chocolate chip cookies!) Only problem for me was that it was really more of a take-out place. It had a nice ambiance, but not much room to enjoy it. So if you are lucky enough to find a place to park in Manhattan Beach, walk your treats down to the beach and enjoy!

Nice little bakery in Manhattan Beach. We ordered a $ 15 box of assorted cookies, but they were old, old, old. The taste was good, but hate it when they don’t rotate their old inventory for fresh versions. Wanted to like this place, but initial impressions is not promising.

I confess I have the biggest sweet tooth ever and this place fulfills all my sinful cravings. If you try one thing I recommend their mixed berry donut muffin. It’s a true hybrid of a donut and muffin and it’s perfection. All their cookies especially their sea salt chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, and almond chocolate chip shortbread cookies are spot on. It’s a tiny spot in a somewhat unnoticeable location, but if you’re around getting breakfast at the north end or four daughters come here to add a boost to your meal and coffee. Love love love this little gem of a bakery! xoxo

When I have a sweet jones, this is my go to. I am so glad it is not near where I live or I would be here everyday. Parking is also hard depending on what time of day it is, but parking 3 blocks away sometimes erases some of the well deserved guilt. This is a very small full service bakery, but I always get the oreo cookies. If they are out I get some other sweet treat. Speaking of sweet, everyone who works there is really nice.

There are a few bakeries that can even come close to this place. When you walk in the door, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the vast assortment of tasty treats. The cookie assortment is presented in jars, the brownies are especially unique. Cakes are original and include gluten free options. We sampled an almond chocolate chip cookie, vegan morsel of goodness and a lightly salted pretzel bread. Good thing this place isn’t close by, I’d be in big trouble!

Hi Laura! In response to your comment, the frosting was thick and sugary/grainy. The typical frosting you would get if you went and bought cake at Ralph’s. Some people like it but some people don’t. It’s not bad… but it’s just not for me.

Beachside goodness! My wife has tried almost everything and loves it! I will say, the cookies are truly a gem. My favorite so far is the almond chocolate chip. It’s not a flat«chips ahoy» style cookie, but rather a thick crispy outside and soft warm moist inside more resembling the shape of a scone. Mmmmm! It cost $ 1.00! Deal alert! The inside is cozy and smells amazing. If anything, the lack of parking is the biggest challenge for such a great store. It’s a beach community and parking challenges just come with the territory. Completely recommend to grab treat, walk to the Strand and enjoy the ocean breeze.

Lovely little shop where the owner and baker, Laura is a gem. She certainly takes pride in her treats and makes everything from scratch with high quality ingredients(you can actually see the working bakery). Unfortunately, I didn’t love the way all those ingredients came together because the cupcakes, cinnamon rolls and cookies just didn’t impress. The cupcakes were dry. The cinnamon rolls were so buttery that the dough was much more muffin-like then bread(it’s hard to explain). The thumbprint cookies were again, full of butter, and heavy. I did enjoy the browned butter rice krispy treat. What a joy to have a dessert without corn syrup! Parking is awful. Good luck with that. This is a nice neighborhood bakeshop. If I lived in the neighborhood, i would probably frequent it more. However, I don’t, and it’s not worth the drive.
