I came in on a Monday night with two of my friends. I knew this was a newish place and used to be a different business, but I was surprised how massive the inside was, but I liked the large oval bar took over the center of the interior. I’m not a beer snob by any means, so there were more than enough choices for me. We shared about five appetizers and all were tasty; my favorite was probably the sweet Thai chili wings. Since all the apps are half price during happy hour, the bill was more than reasonable, making it a pretty solid happy hour option.

We came here last Sunday for my best friend’s 21st birthday. I’m in the industry, and I try to give ever place a fair shot. But our waitress(I think her name was Chantal?) was rude to our entire table. I don’t mind slow service, but rude service on top of that is totally unacceptable. Especially on my friend’s birthday. Also, the bar was out of a lot of beers that we wanted to try, which was pretty disappointing. This was my first visit and also probably my last. Stick with Murphy’s.

A fun location in Manchester try all kinds of beers! They have a well done food menu as well, typically I’m a huge fan of buffalo wings but I always go for the California Wings here(Fried Cauliflower in buffalo sauce) which never disappoint and can easily be a meal in itself! The Moose Rolls are very interesting as well if you’re looking for something different.

Great selection of craft beer on draft. Cool, knowledgable bartenders. Scratch, pub fare kitchen. It’s understandable why ‘The Moose’ is crowded every night.

This place is very annoying for a few reasons. 1) the lights are always too bright 2) the bartenders think they are God’s gift to earth. Mostly I’m just referring to this one bartender who has brown hair and a quarter sleeve. She was particularly snotty and decided to not serve any one in our party ONE drink after we got dinner and were completely sober. My party and I were slightly louder than normal and she felt the need to not serve us. We left annoyed. DONOTGOHERE.

Great atmosphere. Large draft selection. Friendly staff. Food is good and reasonably priced. Very clean bar with lots of room. You won’t go wrong here.

Tried last week and then tried again today. Service was poor in fact waitress was ill and it was obvious she should not have been handling food. Beer list is extensive and quality but very expensive 4.50 for the cheapest and 7.50 for anything decent. First time food was«ok» this time it was horrible. I know they are new and working out the kinks so I hope the figure it out soon sine I like the idea and the atmosphere

Great selection of beer on tap. Caught them on a very busy night, so the service was understandably slow… to a point. Food was hit and miss. Wings were interesting, smoked & fried. The tots were disappointing, how do you mess up tots? The Reuben sandwich was ok, but the roast beef dip was awful, a greasy, grizzly overcooked mess. Ate half, complained, but it remained on our bill.

Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with my time at the Thirsty Moose. I am a huge fan of their location in Portsmouth and had high hopes for their newest branch in Manchester. A group of 10 of us proceeded to disperse around the bar in hopes of grabbing a simple Blue Moon and had no such luck. After 30 minutes of being dismissed by the bartenders, we moved on to a bar up the road. Regrettably, I will not be returning.

Love the build your own sandwich option! Great beer selection– servers and bartenders are friendly and always up for letting you sample the beers.

Great addition to downtown Manchester. The vibe inside is great, and the interior design is classy and inviting. Our service was great; prompt and friendly. We didn’t have to wait long for our drinks or the food despite how busy it was on a Friday evening. Even with the crowd, I didn’t find it to be overly noisy. The selection of beers on tap is vast and they do a great job of helping you choose by offering suggestions or samples. The food menu is pretty diverse as well, with your standard bar fare of appetizers, sandwiches and entrees. I wish we had tried more than just the nachos. Those were delicious by the way. The nachos were perfectly layered with tender BBQ pulled pork and lots of cheese. The only downfalls were the olives and the watery salsa served on the side. I can’t wait to return to try some other dishes, and more importantly, some more of the beer list!

One of the best places I’ve ever visited. I’d go well out of my way to stop by here. The beer selection is unreal! They have a ton of beers I’ve never even seen on tap, and prices are surprisingly low($ 4 — $ 6 covers 90% of their beers). The service was great, everyone was really nice and friendly. There are TV’s all over the place. I will definitely be back.

New place on Elm. Large, beer hall /sports bar feel with lots of TVs and a large wrap-around bar. The place is very loud and it’s hard to hold a conversation. That said, we were told that sound proofing panels would be installed in the next few weeks, so this may not be a factor down the road. Service: We sat at the bar and the staff /service was A+. The bartenders are fun and attentive. We were invited to try samples of beers and the staff seemed to know a lot about all the different beers. My Cosmo was half full and light on the Vodka. I will stick to beer /wine next time. Food: There were 5 of us, and we ordered tater tots, chips, artichoke dip, meatloaf, salad and a wrap. I would rate the food 6 out of 10 — basic pub food, tots were small, plain and not homemade, chips were okay /basic — served with blue cheese dressing. Meatloaf was tasty and served with homemade mashed. I will return to watch a game and enjoy a couple of beers.

This place has one of the best selections of beer in the state! The bar is huge, filled with taps from all over. The menu is pretty extensive and the food came out really quick. The service was quick and the bar tenders are always happy to let you try some unfamilar brews and recommend their favorites. Definitely worth checking out if you’re downtown.

We stopped by to watch the game this afternoon. The place was busy but we finally found a spot at the bar. It took a while for someone to come around and bring us a drink menu. Eventually we flagged down one of the servers and she brought us some drinks. We ordered a few appetizers and they came out about 45 minutes later. The sliders were tasty but not as good as the Portsmouth location — kind of dense, dry, and overcooked. The Moose rolls were ok but I wouldn’t order them again. We also had tater tots as a side, hard to screw those up although they came with a spicy queso cheese dip… kinda strange. The service leaves a lot to be desired — quite a few times the servers walked by our area without asking if we wanted another water/beer/soda even though our glasses were empty. The same waitress helped us the entire time even though there were 4 people behind the bar. As we were leaving there was an altercation between a group of customers and one of the servers. Apparently she said something sarcastic or rude to them and they called her out on it. They mentioned she wasn’t around to help for a long period of time(they needed drinks/food) and was slow to bring the bill. She then came back to tell them the servers all work together — funny but she never once asked us if we needed anything and walked around with a sour puss the whole time. She walked past us a dozen times and never once made eye contact with us. We were excited to see the Thirsty Moose was taking over this location but unless the service improves they will suffer the same fate as JW Hill. As noted by other reviewers, service at the other locations was much better and the food was as well.

This visit started out with an unspecified wait time. We had a group of 8 and they only have two tables that can accommodate apparently. Both are 15 top tables that cannot be separated and both were seated with groups of 4. After a wait of approximately 45 min we decided to go across the street. When the hostess heard us talking about this, she went over and asked one of the parties of four to move. It wasn’t there fault. They shouldn’t have been sat there to begin with. Then it was poor, bordering rude, slow service for mediocre food. At one point our waitress went out on the side walk to pet two dogs and never thought to wash her hands soon returning. Two stars instead of one because there beer list is fantastic

Used to be JW hills. Now is the thristy moose and has soo much potential. The place looks 5 star but you will get better service at he bus station. The staff is terrible, and the food is slow. Management is spotty and the managment is horrible to there staff and trat them like trash. Beer claims to be over 100 on tap but John Edwards puts coors light on beers they run out of amd sell it. He jokes about it thinking its funny. So you dont really know what your getting. There other locations have integrity maybe this place will one day too.

This was my first time at the Thirsty Moose and my experience was definitely a 5 star one. It’s very clean and up to date on the inside. I especially like all the large windows surrounding the restaurant to let all the light in. I sat at the bar and the staff was very friendly and attentive. We started with the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer and it was delish. My friend got the pulled pork quesadilla and said it was awesome. Be sure you like cheese before getting this because it’s very cheesy. I indulged in the Spanish salad with strawberries, almonds and peppers with the vinaigrette dressing, it was awesome! I’d definitely get it again. I know that this is a relatively new establishment but I’m hoping it will remain consist.

Other bars owners should take note of this Thirsty Moose. It’s a game changer for the city of Manchester’s bar scene. Perhaps my review is a little jaded because I know all too well what the previous bar used to look/be like. The comparison is why the Moose is so stunning to me. Everything from the floors to the roof was renovated. Not a single detail overlooked. The new bar is beautiful, boasting 100 craft beer options. The tables are a classy light stained wood the floor and the walls are a painted mustard yellow with red accents(think Buffalo Wild Wings colors). Wood is a theme here with barrels all round the walls and lighting. It’s so impressive from what it used to be. The Moose is still brand new and, like any other business, they are still working out the kinks. I’ll give them a month or two and I will revisit this Unilocal review to see if any major downfalls are apparent with staff/food/service ect. But for now, this place is worth every penny in my mind. It’s far better then the Portsmouth Thirsty Moose location. I hope they occupy this location for years and years to come.

Thirsty Moose Taphouse opened over the weekend in Downtown Manchester, in the former JW Hill’s. This is their third location in NH with the other locations in Portsmouth and Dover. This corner sports bar was renovated nicely and looks very inviting. The layout of the place is similar to its predecessor with the long bar with high seating in the center surrounded by tables, high top tables and long tables. There are over 20 flatscreen TVs throughout the bar and they offer over 150 beers & craft beers to choose from including 100 beers on tap plus a full bar menu. The atmosphere is on the loud side since there was rock music blasting from the overhead speakers. The food offerings include the traditional American pub fare including a good variety of appetizers, wings, salads, chili, chowda, sandwiches, burgers, entrees(ribs, fish & chips, meatloaf, grilled chicken, steak tips, prime rib, custom mac & cheese), and desserts. Brunch is served on Sundays. They also have a kids menu too! Specials are offered here including Happy Hour(Mon-Fri 3PM-6PM)-half off all appetizers and $ 1 off all beers. On Tuesdays, Happy Hour is all day. I stopped in here after work around 5:45PM just in time for Happy Hour. I was greeted at the host stand and promptly seated at a small round table. My server arrived shortly after with a glass of ice water and I immediately placed my appetizers order in before the 6PM cutoff for half off apps. I ordered 3 appetizers including the Meatball Sliders(3 for $ 8.99), Moose Rolls(2 for $ 6.99), and Buffalo Chicken Dip($ 8.99), which arrived altogether in about 10 minutes. The three Meatball Sliders were really good, which consisted of soft hand rolled meatballs smothered in a thick marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese on mini brioche sesame buns. The two Moose Rolls looked similar to the popular Chinese egg rolls which were filled with crunchy sweet slaw, tender BBQ pulled pork wrapped in a deep fried crispy egg roll shell. The soy based BBQ dipping sauce was very salty tasting. The Buffalo Chicken Dip was served hot and had a mild spicy and very salty flavor, a dense mix of pureed buffalo chicken topped with melted cheese & bread crumbs with crunchy tri color tortilla chips for dipping on the side. I actually finished each appetizer in one sitting as I watched the NFL highlights on the TVs. The food was discounted off the check and the new total with tax and before tip was $ 13.60, a pretty good deal! Overall, the service here was friendly and prompt. As for the food on this visit, the Meatball Sliders were a hit with me! The other two appetizers were decent and very salty tasting. I definitely felt like a «thirsty moose» after consuming those salty appetizers. I would return again to try out some of the other items on the menu(hopefully less salty tasting) and to watch the game on one of the many TVs here.
