This place has improved vastly. The dim sum here isn’t like any regular dim sum, they don’t have rolling carts. You order from a piece of paper and they make it for you fresh. It’s very inconsistent here with their food. I guess it really depends on who’s the cook. There are a few selected items they have that Sun Kong doesn’t which I really love about. The service is the worst if I am not with my family. Their hotpot is meh but their sushi, I believe is really good. Not much to choose from but very convenient for me because it is close by to my house. The pot is tiny. The sauce is little. The atmosphere is nice. Price range for hotpot/sushi buffet: $ 30-$ 35(including tip and tax)

I came here last night for dinner(we didn’t do the hot pot buffet) and everything was really good without leaving you with a terrible food coma from the MSG. When you come in, there are two rooms to separate who wants hot pot and who wants family style Chinese food. It’s really spacious and modern looking. Looks cleaner than restaurants in Chinatown. Service was fast and attentive. We ordered five entrees and they came out quickly(surprisingly!). First came the soup(I don’t know the name of it), but it was a mix of pork and egg drop soup. The soup was really flavorful and not bland like most soups in Chinatown. The entrees were absolutely delicious. This is by far one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve been to. I would definitely order take out here if I lived closer. However, it is only a 10 minute walk from Malden Center so that’s not bad at all! I am curious with how the buffet is — maybe I’ll come back to try that out another time.

This place is amazing. Best hot pot I have had. Sushi is decent, not the best, but for the price, it’s fantastic(hot pot and sushi are included in one price). I lived near a few other hot pot places, and still drive out of the way to go here. Can’t wait to try the dim sum, bit I just always get lured in by the hot pot.

So disappointed! I have been ignored for over an hour before I was almost starved to death. Never want to come back again. No apologies were made. I eventually had to cancel the order after waiting for an hour. Then the server came back and asked«are you sure you didn’t get the food?» Are you kidding me? You think I am lying about not getting the food because I didn’t want to pay for it? Instead of getting an apology, I was accused for being a scammer. Just ruined my Sunday… A server dropped the food on the seat and picked it right up and who knows if she will serve it to people or not. After watching it happened, i just lost my appetite and feel it is time to abort the mission.

Great dimsum. They are very tasty. We like the steamed pork bun, fried calamari, fried taro with shrimp, xo fried rice noodle. The place is pretty clean too.

This restaurant has hotpot and dim sum! First time here and we tried the dim sum part. We get a piece of paper to check off what we wanted and is brought out to us. Not the usual cart ladies. We sent a dish back there was hair in there. It was actually not bad but I didn’t love it either. Next time I’ll tru hotpot.

There’s one reason I keep coming back here: I really like the fish congee – it has shreds of ginger and scallion and is very tasty. I’ve tried a bunch of other things, mostly from their dim sum menu because they have very reasonable prices($ 2.99 for small, medium, or large dim sum dishes on the week days). I’ve had their vegetable dumplings(steamed), shrimp and chive dumplings(steamed with a little pan frying), lotus paste bun, pineapple bun, and coconut pudding(like a coconut jello). I also tried their beef and Chinese broccoli with soft rice stick(very thin noodles, pan fried but not crispy if you order it «soft» rather than«crispy»), except that I swapped out the beef for shrimp(for which they charged $ 9.95 for the dish at dinner time). They were all solid, but none of these really jumped out at me as especially amazing, except that the Chinese broccoli tasted extra fresh and not overcooked, which I really liked – I could’ve eaten just a plate of that. Still, this place is solid and, like I said, I’m really addicted to their congee. Will be back.

I came here last night for the first time because my boyfriend and I were craving hot pot. They do a buffet mean options which is hot pot and all you can eat sushi which is pretty awesome. I think it was around 24 bucks a person, which to me seemed pretty good. It wasn’t the best hot pot I’ve ever had, but I did enjoy it. The sushi was very good! The service was fine. Our waiter actually never asked us if we wanted anything to drink besides water, but I noticed him asking other tables so he must have forgot. He was a little slow to refill our waters which was only an issue because we had the spicy hot pot! Over all, it was pretty good and I would dine there again.

Most of Yong Yong’s reviews are for dimsum and ayce hot pot and sushi. This one’s going to be about their great family entrée dishes. Went for a family gathering and 5 tables were reserved in the back room. Soda, beer, and tea to drink. Surprisingly they had peanuts, seaweed salad, and pickled veggies to snack on. The chinese pu pu platter had an enormous mountain of jellyfish in the middle and your typical cold cuts and pickled veggies, no cha-siu unfortunately. Everything was tasty though. The walnut shrimp was great, you can’t go wrong with that dish. The fried tofu with conch and yellow chives was spectacular. The most extravagant display of that dish I’ve ever had. The steamed fish I heard was super tasty. The chicken was tender, chips on top not so much. The dow miew with garlic could have been better stir fried, but it was boiled in this case. The lobster had plenty of meaty parts and cooked nicely. Then finally the standard fried rice. Almost forgot, the seafood soup was divine, though some may say it was a waste of lobster meat, it certainly added to the soup though. For dessert, the red bean soup was done very well. This was my first time dining here and all in all I will be adding this as a great and new canto joint for family dinners. The service was prompt, new plates were given at least once, and the food was yummy. The pictures do the food a lot more justice than what I’ve said. Plenty of parking in the side lot or the lot across the street. Clean bathroom and general areas.

Yong Yong is the restaurant that you want to like, but can’t. It’s an Asian restaurant that has a fairly tasteful interior. But inherently it comes with distasteful service. At first look, it offers everything from Shabu to dim sum to sushi to Cantonese cuisine, but after a few visits you come to the realization that it’s not great at any of the above. Occasionally the food would be fresh, but there’s also the off chance the food would be stale. There’s almost never any queue, but that’s the reality for a restaurant that does not consistently measure up. My recent experiences have been dismal, safe to say that I’ll be steering clear.

I was not planning to wait over an hour at Sun Kong so I came here for dim sum. I thought service was ok. I asked for water and spicy sauce and they were delivered promptly. Food was fresh. If you dont like cilantro, tell them not to include on the shrimp flat noodle. I asked for 2 shrimp dumplings but on the receipt I saw«5» Luckily I went straight to the register and have them fixed. I do like my har gao but I dont think I can finish 5. Majority of the dim sum is size L so if you go there on the weekends and holidays, expect to pay over $ 4 and XL is $ 4.95. Chinatown prices are the same so if you want easy parking spots, come here.

Dear potential customers of Yong Yong, Stay away! very VERYFAR away! The big one star here is for restaurant customer service and management accountability towards a dissatisfied customer. The food and service in of itself is moderate, mediocre. This in of itself might have been forgiveable, i’ve had worse at other places. However, i’ve never been nearly so tempted to just walk out of a dining experience as I was tonight. I had an end of meal issue and I discussed it with the waitress. She had a pleasant enough answer but I wasnt’ satisfied and requested to speak to the manager directly. Rule 1 of customer service… to any owner/manager of a restaurant. If a customer asks for you, you dont send the waitstaff back to the table to placate the customer. It is your duty and responsibility to take the escalated issue, not pawn it off on your workers and waiters. I assure you the issue was, overall a few minor inconsistencies I wished to express, but since you, whoever the manager/owner is didnt’ want to take your time and effort to come and take ownership and responsibility. Instead you get this one star scathing review, and a hope, wish and prayer to everyone out there that they all vote with their wallets and GOSOMEWHEREELSEANDPUTYOUOUTOFBUSINESS! Sincerely, a very dissatisfied customer.

I had high expectations when I was seated at this restaurant. White tablecloths, everything looking crisp & clean, ordering Dim-Sum from a fancy picture menu(rather than the carts rolling around — looking & pointing to what you want). Sad to say we were disappointed. The staff weren’t very friendly. A few things we asked for(Siracha sauce, a small bowl for the Siracha & soy sauce) weren’t delivered & we had to ask multiple times. Getting the food was slow. The prices were too high — you can get the SAME Dim-Sum down the block for a LOT less money. *** The absolute worst were the glasses of water they poured for the table. I took one sip & was appalled. I told the people I was with«OMG, it’s like toilet water» they all laughed & agreed, the water is disgusting. I highly doubt we’ll be back to this place.

In addition to the parking lot, there’s also plenty of street parking in front of the restaurant. The interior was clean and spacious. We had a table of 11 in our own little area. The servers came by to take our drink orders: a bottle of cab and a bottle of sake served hot. There were menus and markers on the table to check off the sushi and maki rolls we wanted. Specialty rolls were a dollar more. We ordered a few varieties for the table. The sushi was average. I was too busy chatting and drinking wine that I didn’t get a chance to look over the hotpot menu. Our host graciously ordered for the table. Once the servers brought all the hotpot offerings, it became overwhelming. There wasn’t enough room on the table. The restaurant provided a generous portion of meat, seafood and veggies. I didn’t feel like they skimped out at all. There were dumplings, meatballs, clams, corn, salmon, squid, minced fish, beef, shrimp, mushrooms and more! I can’t remember it all. The broth was on the bland side but the dipping sauce made up for it. We were given a paste, sauce, scallions and garlic. Everyone combined their own sauce in a dipping bowl. It was a perfect compliment to the meat and seafood. We had a good time drinking, eating and catching up. We were totally stuffed! I thought the meal was a good value. I do feel bad and think we wasted a ton of food. I liked the sushi more than the hot pot. I would go back. Service was a bit difficult. They had trouble understanding us and kept forgetting our drinks or additional sushi order. Price for adults is $ 24.95 on the weekdays and $ 25.95 on the weekends for all you can eat sushi and hotpot.

I never knew there was a Dim Sum place nearby where I lived(nearby meaning a 20 minute drive). I was very surprised with the quality because it rivaled that of the Dim Sum locations in Chinatown. When you walk in, they ask you if you wanted the Dim Sum meal(9am-3pm only) or their hot pot and sushi meal. I elected the Dim Sum since I had hot pot a few nights ago. Their Dim Sum staples were great quality. like their marinated chicken feet, dumplings and short ribs. My mother loves Dim Sum and I can’t wait to bring her here so she can have a nice outing. Their sticky rice was a bit stale though and their shrimp dumplings were a little bland. The worst was the Egg Rolls. they were soo greasy and it was pretty inedible. The service was good but they didn’t really give us things we needed. Like the table we were at didn’t have any soy sauce which was weird since it is a staple in places like that. There must have been a shortage of napkins because of the war because we had only the bare minimum. The prices were actually pretty good. I think it’s a little cheaper than the ones in China Town even though it’s on the same level taste wise which was awesome. Overall, I would definitely come here again.

This review is for the hotpot/sushi buffet. The restaurant is bright and spacious. Noticed several other tables with traditional Cantonese dishes. Mixed cuisine dining option — depending on customers’ preferences. For the hotpot — they offer about 4 – 6 broth options. Great selection of meats and veggies. Overall, the quality was decent. They gave huge portions of everything we’d marked off. We barely had any room on the table. As for the sushi portion — maki rolls and nigiris are included. Special rolls and sashimi are additional $. The wait staff checked back often and filled the pots with more water/broth. Service was great.

This is a dim sum review. I came here a few times and I can pretty much say they are consistent. Not overloading on the MSG. Creativity with the Rice Noodle Rolls(Cheurng Fun). This is not the rolling the cart around type; but rather a checklist and they bring it out. I don’t like how they don’t space it out. They literally bring out everything as it becomes ready so you can end up with Tons of food all at the same time. The service here is typical dimsum service. Nothing out of the ordinary. If you speak in Chinese when asking for table, they will give you the Chinese checklist so be sure to ask for the picture menu or English checklist if you can’t read Chinese. It happened every single time I’ve come here. Obviously, they kinda forgot ABC can speak but not read! I knew I should’ve went to Chinese school when I was a kid! I am hot selling their fresh SOYBEANMILK. It’s sweet and warm… ANDTHEBEST in the area. It actually has bean flavor. They definitely don’t cheap out on the bean ratio. When I dream of soy bean milk, I dream of Yong Yong.

I’m said to say that I have to recant my review. i came a week later with my roommates raving about the awesome dimsum I had a weekend ago. We got seated right now and quickly selected our 10 dishes and then waited. and waited… and 45 minutes later we finally caught the attention of a staff member who went to check on our order. But wait, we already got the bill with no food on our table. About 50 minutes later, our dishes started coming out in 2s or so every 10 minutes. Most of the food was okay, but you can tell some of the dishes have either been refried or sitting for a while I’m not sure. The fried calamari that was amazing last week, was chewey and over battered and soggy. And while we were waiting forever, clearly starving, there was a guy in a suit walking around with some dim sum dishes. He dropped off one at our table and we thought it was a sample or maybe an apology that we’ve been waiting forever for our food. The once chatty room of customers, was getting quieter and quieter as everyone seemed confused where their food was. After waiting some more, we tried to cancel the remaining of our order, because quite frankly, we had other errands to run that day. Instead they rushed out the remaining of our dishes. Which is fine, but here’s what left us with a sour taste in our mouths. We give our credit card to pay and realize our charged bill is like $ 6 more than it was on the bill, so we ask what’s up. Turns out, the dude in the suit was a human push cart and even though that dish was never added to our bill, they added it last second to our credit cards as if we would not notice. So essentially, the suit guy gives us a dish we don’t want as if it was a sample and secretly charges us. And no, they don’t use a push cart system, instead all orders go on this paper that you hand to waiter which was why we felt so tricked and confused. We didn’t argue since the waitstaff spoke no English and it wasn’t worth the trouble but everything just felt weird about it all. Our waitress also charged the wrong amount on our credit card, then refunded it and finally charged the right amount indicating that their staff really could use some more training at the register as well. Finally 2 hours later from sitting down we were able to leave, feeling cheated and just uncomfortable about the whole thing. I really hope this place changes it mentality about tricking customers and get’s their kitchen in order. It’s really a nice place inside and I wish it the best, but I probably won’t be risking anymore sunday dimsums here for a while.
