We ate here last week after not eating there in a few years. The service was very good. However I cannot say that about the food. I had the Wonton soup. It was the first time ever that I could have used a knife to cut the wontons. The egg roll was served very nicely. It had absolutely no taste. The shrimp in lobster sauce consisted of six small shrimp in the sauce along with fried rice. I had to use a load of soy sauce for any flavor. The dish was totally bland. I don’t believe that we will ever return. The three stars are for the service and not the food.

We’ve been to this place several times. But lately, the quality of sushi went down. The sushi is not consistent. Some days are good and some days are not. I guess it depends who the sushi chef on that day. If you go for the chinese combo food, maybe that’s better. But, overall the price is reasonable and nice ambience.

Every time I come to Lutz I make sure to hit this gem. This place is insanely delicious and it’s always quiet and not crowded. The food is fresh, amazing, and the service is great. It’s one of the things I miss most about leaving Lutz!

This is our regular Thursday lunch place. The outside is a bit shabby but when you open the door, you know it is classy. Excellent service. Extremely good food although the servings are a little skimpy.

I would give their sushi 4 stars in quality, but that’s 2 stars off for the service. Multiple times, we have called in an order, and it has been messed up every time, but this last time takes the cake. The menu says hand roll or 6 – 8 pieces. I tried to explain that I wanted the pieces, but what I ended up with was 1 piece of a spicy tuna roll. Just one piece! I ordered negihama, and they gave me one piece of hamachi nigiri. I do know the difference!!! So I thought that I was ordering dinner for myself, but instead I ordered a couple of bites. Never EVER order sushi on the phone from Rice and Roll, lesson learned.

My husband, son and I went during their happy hour. We had sushi for $ 3.00 each. They were large rolls and delicious. Atmosphere was nice, clean and waitress was very friendly. Love this place and we will definitely be regular customers.

The owners are just not very nice to the customers. I watched a prior visit them reprimand a customer who was not satisfied with their order. I asked for them to hold the mayo on my sushi and they brought it with the mayo anyway. When I tried to send it back they were very rude. Overall the miso soup was very good and another item I ordered was ok but I won’t return because there are just too many other better choices in asian cuisine.

They have great Japanese food. Their version of Chinese/Cantonese food needs a little help.

We love this place! Food is good, large variety and the owner is great. We usually get take out but they have a nice little sit in area too!

Great little place that I found by accident while driving by and I’m glad I did! Cozy place that I think is just the right size. Sushi prices are great for the portion sizes… only got some simple rolls but they were fresh and delicious. Also tried the egg roll which was fantastic. They have quite a bit of things on the menu so there’s a little something for everyone even if you aren’t a sushi fan. Good drink specials too and cheap beer during happy hour. Service was great — everyone we came Into contact with was very attentive. Will definitely be back!

I live really close to this place and was worried about going based on the mixed Unilocal reviews. My wife and I decided to go and it was a very good decision. First of all rice and roll has happy hour during the weekdays from 4 to 7 p.m. During happy hour in addition to drink specials there are happy hour specials on sushi. We skipped the appetizer and ordered five different rolls. The food came out quickly and was made to order. The sushi with fresh and tasty and for the price paid exceptional value. The service was friendly, prompt, and accommodating. The restaurant was clean, had plenty of seating, and there was plenty of parking. This may not be my favorite sushi spot, but we’ll defintely be back!

Had sushi from here last week and it was fair. We have had good sushi from here, too, but unfortunately it isn’t consistent. I don’t think I would try it again. I will still come back and try the Chinese, as I’ve heard good things.

So the problem with the sushi here is it’s not consistent. I’ve had good sushi and I’ve had pretty had sushi. The good sushi was 3.5÷5 and the bad was 1.5÷5. By bad I mean fish that is a bit funky. That is not good my friends. It’s a shame because on a good day it’s pretty good but I don’t like taking the risk of possibly ending up with sashimi on an off night.

I went here during their happy hour to try some sushi, which is a very good deal BTW, at $ 3 – 7 per roll and $ 1 for a one piece sashimi or sushi. They have a great menu offering your typical Chinese, Thai, and Japanese dishes in addition to their sushi, so really there is something for everyone here unless you don’t like Asian food. I tried their sashimi tuna and eel which were great especially the eel which had a crispy skin. For the sushi I got the Mexican and rainbow rolls. I usually try the rainbow at least once at every sushi place I go to so I can gauge the quality of several types of fish at once, it was okay the tuna was decent. The Mexican was one of the best shrimp tempura rolls I’ve had anywhere, definitely my favorite so far, makes me excited to try the dragon roll next time. My brother got the sumo roll and the spicy tuna roll they were both good but the spicy tuna was best. He also got the Tom Yum Goon which he said was about as good as some of my favorite Thai places, which was surprising. The service was good, the restaurant filled up shortly after I was seated and our server still was very attentive and the meal went very smoothly. The whole staff was friendly and my overall experience was good. I really look forward to trying more of their menu.

Not pleased .not pleased at all. how did this place get 4 stars? I must be ordering the wrong thing or something .just don’t come come here for the Chinese food I called in a few dinner combos for pick up on my way home from work. I got bourbon chicken. pepper steak. and general chicken and beef chow mien. Came home to lunch portion size meals(smaller than some other places’ lunch portion actually) My bourbon chicken was dry. covered in a liquid sauce so thin it was like water’s consistency but darker. that sauce just kinda went all over my white rice. the pepper steak was ok. only thing decent was the general chicken cuz it was larger chunks of chicken that didn’t have breading overkill… the white rice and fried rice were both too dry. and somehow I ended up with beef stir fry in a massive liquid concoction .what happened to my beef chow mien noodles??! I wanted this to be my go to Chinese take out place cuz it’s the nearest one. but darn.that’s not happening now

I have been going for 5 years religiously. That has abruptly changed. My server not only talked with attitude but had zero knowledge of the menu. Our drinks were only refilled once a different server was kind enough to see we were empty, since our server was no where to be found. We sat with our dirty plates there for the whole stay. As a server I try to give servers the benifit of the doubt but this was so ridiculous.

My husband found this place on Unilocal and was excited to go. Chinese places that we both like seem to be few and far between in Tampa. And we’re both always looking to add another sushi place to our list. This place is a little hole in the wall in a shopping center seemingly in the middle of nowhere. We actually love hole in the wall places because our favorite restaurants always seem to be holes in the wall. What’s so great about this place is that it has Chinese food and sushi. Our first visit we went a little crazy and tried tons of food. We spent $ 50, which is really reasonable when you consider that we stuffed ourselves silly and had leftovers for days. My husband is a huge fan of crab & cheese won tons but had not found any that were even halfway decent since moving to Tampa. The crab & cheese won tons here are absolutely amazing. Very yummy. We came back a second time, this time for dinner. This time we focused more on the Chinese food, though still ordered some sushi. A high point of this restaurant is the service. Everyone is exceptionally friendly and the chefs always ask us how we like our food. The servers here actually work as a team, which is becoming increasingly rare in our experience. If a server, who is not ours, walks by and sees empty water cups or plates stacking up they will take care of it, which we greatly appreciate. This may not be the absolute best sushi or Chinese food I’ve ever had, but they’re both good, some of it is very good. The fact that I can get both here means we will keep coming back.

Today was my day to see the doctor and do the usual check-up thing. The office scheduled my appointment for 10:30 in the morning and then asked if I would be fasting so that they could do all of the necessary blood work. I was practically frothing at the mouth when I got to the office since I didn’t have my usual hot tea and fresh fruit to start the day. Despite my begging and pleading, they didn’t do the blood draw until the end of the exam which meant it was getting close to 12 Noon. By this point in the day the exam table was starting to look mighty tasty, and thankfully they turned me loose before I tried to take a bite out of it. I had bookmarked a few eateries near his office(in far northern Lutz) and zoomed up the road till I found Rice N Roll in a nearby shopping center at the intersection of Dale Mabry and Lutz Lake Fern Road. Rice N Roll promotes themselves as a Japanese, Chinese, Thai & Asian Fusion restaurant offering fine dine in, take-out, and catering to the local community. That sounds presumptuous, but I found the restaurant and the food to be mighty delicious. Their menu has a long listing of Asian delights with a wide variety of lunch specials and a full sushi bar. I sat at the bar and ordered a couple of rolls — the Red Dragon and the Spicy Yellowtail. Both rolls were excellent, with very fresh fish and tasty mixtures of veggies, fish, and creative sauces. The restaurant was surprisingly full for lunch with a lot of medical staff from the nearby St. Joseph’s North Hospital, as well as local business people, and a crowd of regulars. Many people were ordering their meals to go which ranged from traditional Chinese carryout, noodle bowls, curry, and sushi. If you find yourself way up the road near the Pasco county line, then I’d suggest looking for Rice N Roll in the back corner of the Publix shopping center. The staff is very friendly, and they offer a wide variety of delicious Asian cuisine.
