Just moved to Colorado from Texas this last summer. It has been very difficult to find barbecue that compares to the Texas barbecue that I’m used to. I have tried several barbecue joints in and around the Denver area. I have had good barbecue, but nothing that makes me want to go back. I tried Lulu’s for the first time last week. I always try and get a three meat combo so that I can sample some of my favorites. I had the ribs, burnt ends, and brisket. All three of these meats were excellent and came very close to competing with some of my favorite barbecue places in Texas. After trying at least a dozen joints, I think I have found a place that I will definitely crave and go back to. Good job Lulu’s!

This little gem is absolutely the taste of Texas. Actually, it might even be better than some of the restaurants back home. Don’t tell them I think that though. I had the ½ and ½ with Beef Brisket and Smoked Sausage. My sides were Mac & Cheese and Fried Okra. All were cooked perfectly. Strangely as perfrct as the Fried Orka was, it isn’t cooked in house. Nevertheless, it may have been some of the best okra I’ve ever had. The service at noon on a Thursday was quick and pleasant. Aura did a wonderful job. My guess is if I lived in the area, this would be a place I visited often. Go and enjoy a little Texas BBQ. You won’t be disappointed. Bön Appétit.

Solid barbecue here. Having had the great fortune of eating bbq in Texas, KC, Carolinas, etc., I would call this real, honest and satisfying, if perhaps not the full Rapture that ‘Q can sometimes provide. I visit often; ’nuff said. My standard go-to is the brisket meal with fried okra, mac & cheese, and a side of cornbread. The draft beer list changes, but could use more sessionable offerings. Way too goofy lately(not at all uncommon in the region). Good folks. Service is excellent, if crowded in summer. Throw down a hike or ride, come here to people watch and tuck into a plate of excellent barbecue.

Great bbq — brisket and pulled pork are equally great choices. You can’t go wrong. For sides fried okra is tops. Their potato salad is good too. Crazy waits in the summer but reasonable when Louisville returns to normal during the rest of the year.

I’m on the fence… This joint is fun and energetic. But the tables are haphazardly placed anywhere and at any angle throughout the restaurant. If you get up to go to the restroom, you’ll find yourself roaming around looking for an escape route between two chair backs pushed so close to together, The guy behind you accidentally tucks his shirt into your pants. It’s easier to crawl under the tables. The layout looks like the dinning area of the Titanic after massive swells pushed the vessel 90 degrees port then 45 degree starboard, and as the tables and chairs shifted… someone just said…“Looks good… get the cutlery.“ The design of a five year old leaving their toys scattered on the floor of their play area makes more sense and is easier to navigate. The service is fantastic! The staff all chip in, they know the menu better than the escape route in case of fire. The BBQ is so-so. Not large portions… no frills… no real tantalizing flavor, that will have to come from the array of BBQ sauces stacked on your table. This place is more of a social gathering spot with good drinks, a nice selection of craft beers and instead of chicken wings and nachos, serves BBQ fare. With that mind set, and knowing you might not find parking within walking distance, you too might find it so-so.

We were feeling BBQ and saw this spot, I was drawn by the BBQ aroma wafting around the area. This is a good family location, atmosphere is loud, and not super formal. The food and sides were all good. My favorite items were the Brisket Nachos, which my cousin got, and the Brisket Sandwich which I got. The portions are plenty big, so you will leave full. Every table has 3BBQ sauce options, which I liked. I suggest going with one of their beers, we went with the Saturday margaritas special($ 6) and found them to be nothing amazing — average. They did have a good variety of beers. They have a few televisions around the restaurant which helped with my weekend sport watching habit. You can eat inside or outside, it was a fun atmosphere, but I was not blow away, hence my ‘a-ok’ grade. I’d go back, because I can see the potential, it’s a solid BBQ place, maybe I’m grudging over not getting a beer. I also took away a star because the bathroom was a mess — yuck.

Came to Lulu’s after a recommendation from a friend. EXCELLENT food! Came here with my parents and husband. My parents both got the prime rib special. A slab of prime rib bigger than your face. My mom usually eats like a bird and took down the whole thing. Favorite sides= sweet tater tots & Mac n cheese. So good! Can’t wait to return!

I had such a great time eating here last night! So I’m a vegetarian, but I love BBQ restaurants. I know, I know. I always order all the sides. Well, at Lulu’s I can feel more«included» because they have smoked tofu!!! And it’s actually really, really tasty. I had the tofu, sweet potato tots, and a side salad. Husband had the burnt ends, which he absolutely loved. Our server was the nicest gal too. I really liked the upbeat, lively atmosphere of the restaurant. Can’t wait to bring my parents here when they visit!

A nice local place for bbq, good but nothing exceptional. We went on a Saturday night, and the place is definitively popular. The bar was very busy so we waited with drinks in hand in front of the hostess(only place available and mostly out of the waiters way) for the expected 40 minutes. After an hour, the manager(owner?) told us they’d been texting me 3 times to tell us our table was available. Well, busy standing with a drink, my phone in the purse, I did not hear it(the place is very, very loud). Indeed, I had received a first text 10 minutes earlier. They did not they see us standing in front of them for almost an hour? Had to text 3 times before talking to us? I like the fact that they text you once your table is ready, but was disappointed to see that they seem to rely too heavily on technology. Anyway, food is good, selection of drinks is nice and includes all the trendy offerings: cocktails, cider and a nice selection of beer. You even have smoked tofu if you don’t eat meat, let’s not forget we are in Boulder county… My personal favorites were the ribs by the rack, and I really liked the sweet potato tots and corn bread. The fried pickles are also delicious(ones of the best I’ve had) and good to share for a table of 3 or 4. Nice atmosphere, but the place must be difficult to heat and both my daughter and I ended up with our jackets on. We did not get to try the bread pudding because our waitress(who was very efficient but less than friendly) brought the bill without asking about desserts. We decided to have cake at home since I am getting tired of having to request a dessert. Why bother to have a dessert menu in that case?

I’ve eaten here a few times over lunch. The food and sides have always been really good. My favorite things on the menu so far have been the Brisket Nachos(really cool idea!), and the ½ Smoked Chicken. I will continue to go back, and explore the rest of the menu. Great location as well, fun atmosphere with an open air concept.

The ribs and burnt ends have really impressed me at Lulu’s. Being from KC and growing up on bbq I have a pretty good understandimg of what ribs should taste like and the quality of the meat. It’s only gotten better at Lulu’s. The flavor and tenderness of the meat have kept me coming back. Not to mention the Thursday night tap takeovers. Mike does a great job of partnering with breweries to bring local and unique beers to Louisville. A true gem in L town.

Quick disclaimer — I have been here twice and the first time was a 5 star experience and the second time was a 3 star experience so I compromised and gave them 4 for benefit of the doubt. LUNCHEXPERIENCE The first time I came for lunch and had the brisket plate — so delish! Their brisket is fabulous and I love both the mild and spicy BBQ. I like that you have the option to choose which BBQ as the meat comes out dry — gives you more options! Along with this I had the seasonal vegetables(beets — which are always my favorite!) and the mac n cheese which is so creamy and delish. The Mac n Cheese was a little cold but that also could have been b/c I waited a bit before digging in — once again benefit of the doubt. In addition, we had a FABULOUS server. We were seated outside on the patio and she was extremely attentive and never forgot about us — extremely important considering we were on our lunch and needed to get back to the office. DINNEREXPERIENCE I came here for dinner last night with the hubs, my father in law and one of the hubs’ childhood friends. My biggest issue was they told us 15−20mins for a table and we weren’t seated for almost an hour. In addition, my husband checked back in with them twice and they kept saying another 10−15mins. I understand that it was a saturday night and they were busy but they told us that«call aheads» get preferential treatment — fine except we tried to call ahead and kept getting busy signals so it was just a bummer. Plus the hostesses were kind of rude about it which didn’t make the situation any better. The food for dinner — not a huge fan of the ribs. The brisket still kicked butt but the entire table shared some of my ribs and no one was impressed. Once again the mac n cheese was killer and the cornbread is yummy as well! The hubs got the brisket and pulled pork and devoured them both — once again great job! This place is kind of a hike for us as we’re in downtown Denver. I’m not sure if I would be willing to drive up just for the BBQ. There would have to be another reason to come up.

I’m a KCBS Certified BBQ Judge, so for any bbq place, the meat is make-or-break, and it’s great here.(I most often get the beef brisket.) The sides, such as cornbread, are very good as well. What makes it 5-stars is what Lulu’s offers beyond that, with a wide beer selection and memorable indoor & outdoor environments. The inside has lots of quirky décor, while the outside astroturfed patio is good for my two-year-old to run around if he’s feeling wiggly.

Been here a couple times — our last time had some highs and lows. Long story short, we sat on the patio — and out of nowhere my husband passed out. Thankfully he came to rather quickly — but in the 30 seconds or so when he was unconscious it was the table next to us that was responsive enough to call the paramedics. The staff did come to check on us, and we ended up going to the hospital(mostly as a precaution and to check everything out), however I was a little upset that we got our lunch(we packed it to go and ate it later in the hospital), but we got charged for the couple beers we ordered, and I barely sipped on when«the incident» occurred. Overall the service(last time and previously) was just okay — I can’t imagine coming here when it’s much busier. The staff was fairly helpful in my little meltdown, the real kudos goes to the table next to us and the Louisville Paramedics.

Lulu’s BBQ is my favorite restaurant in Louisville and every time I eat there it goes up a notch! I live nearby so I eat there a lot. PROS: The atmosphere is great! It’s an old gas station that was converted into two restaurants(Lulu’s and La Revolucion). It has a cool old-school Texas roadhouse vibe to it. They have a back patio that is set up with games, picnic tables etc. Tons of TVs that play live sports which I’m a big fan of. The waitstaff is always friendly and attentive. The FOOD! Great BBQ from the traditional brisket, burnt ends, sausage links and pulled pork to the not-so-traditional Thursday night special«beef sandwich»(which I had last night). The beef sandwich was a prime rib sandwich with caramelized onions and an au jus dipping sauce. Fantastic! Great selection of microbrews and(my favorite) $ 3 Tall Boys of PBR. CONS: You will have to wait on a table if you go on a Friday or Saturday night. This is often a problem with most good restaurants… They do have a system that texts you on your cellphone when your table is ready, so you can go check out the local stores while you wait. BBQ sauce. I love the 3 sauces Lulu’s has to choose from, that’s why I wish they would come up with another kind. I’m sure it would be killer. So that’s it! I hope you enjoy!

Lulu’s has my favorite wings in Colorado. And I’m from Buffalo. They are smoked and seasoned to perfection, and only $ 5 on Sundays. Everything else we’ve had here is equally amazing, with great service. Expect to wait on weekends and Broncos game nights. Try their prickly pear margarita, sweet potato tots(with the special dipping sauce of course), and the fried okra. Heaven.

We have been going to this place for some time now. This started as an ok bbq spot for us but has gotten much better as of late. Over the last winter I was a bit disappointed with the pulled pork as it tended to be a bit dry a stringy. However, I have noticed this summer that it has gotten significantly better. It is now pulled chunks of pork that are juicy and tender. I have always loved their sides. This place is not gourmet but it is exactly what you would expect in a bbq joint. My kids love the mac-n-cheese and our go to sides are the fried okra and the sweet potato tots. Another plus is their solid beer selection. It is quite varied with a solid focus on locals. There is a nice outside seating area up front for enjoying the fresh air and people watching. It’s also a good spot if you have brought your canine friend along. Out back there is a play area with games of corn hole set up. It’s touch for me to go to other spots in Louisville as this has something for all the family as well as good prices and service.

We had the best time at Lulu’s BBQ last night. We were looking for a good spot in Louisville for a celebratory dinner after a day of apartment hunting in Boulder. We added our names to the list, expecting a 30-minute wait. After 50 minutes, we were seated. The long wait left me a little disappointed, but the man in charge seated us himself and offered to buy our first round of drinks. From that moment, I was in love. The waitress was awesome and she reiterated that the deal for a free round of drinks was solid. As a gin lover, I opted for the Moody Mule(gin, ginger beer, lime). Since the drink comes in those awesome Moscow Mule mugs, she asked to hold onto my ID as insurance against possible theft of the cool mug. I couldn’t stop from laughing — it’s a sad state of affairs when there’s rampant mug theft. Come on, folks! Manners, please?! Leave their mugs alone. Sadly, I’m cursed with vegetarianism, so while we shouldn’t have wound up at a BBQ joint, they offered smoked tofu and I was sold. Shockingly, they did the impossible — and made ordering tofu feel cool. Kudos! The outside of the tofu was crispy and the mild sauce they smothered it in was perfect. I complemented that with their tangy cole slaw and creamy mashed potatoes.(Note: The choice of mashed potatoes was solely to give me license to try out the 3BBQ sauces they offer.) My partner got the beef brisket — completely with a perfect smoke ring — and the sausage alongside cornbread and fried okra. Everything was to his satisfaction. We used to live in North Carolina and have high expectations for BBQ(as many posting here do). While the BBQ wasn’t as good as the BBQ we were both raised on, we still have to give awesome props to the kitchen crew for bringing us quality BBQ in Colorado. A rare, but much appreciated feat. For what it is — and where it is — they do it well. I get why the place is packed. But how could I forget the fried pickles? Man, it’s been a while since we had some serious fried pickles. The breading was well spiced and their homemade ranch worked perfectly with them. Again, have we had better? For sure. But considering how many crummy plates of fried pickles we have had in this lifetime, Lulu’s BBQ still lands in the top tier. The service, the food, and the atmosphere were all better than we had imagined. We look forward to coming back — and bringing a hungry crew, too.

I love barbeque but this was average and then throw in poor service and it’s just another average BBQ joint. My food was cold when it arrived, I had a combo plate so it was a variety of meats all average. Maybe it would have been good if it was hot or at least warm. I have since become a semi-regular at LULU’s and my first visit must have been an anomaly. The waitress who served me on my first visit has never been seen on my recent visits. I go to LULU, s once or twice a month for their happy hour menu and a couple of Texas slushies(bring a designated driver). My son drives out from Denver once a month for the Saturday special Brisket Philly sandwich. I like to belly up to the bar for their happy hour but you have to get there early to do that. All in all this place is pleasant and has a good atmosphere, the food is good and the prices are reasonable especially the happy hour menu. The service is okay but they do get busy so go early.
