I live so close to this bar and grill and my beau is a pretty big fan of going here to watch games. I have always found the service staff to be very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is laid back and welcoming. I should add that this is definitely a U of L bar. No UK shirts allowed(just joking… you could wear whatever shirt you like but remember you are in cardinal territory). The food is good… I enjoy the chips and queso, the nachos, and the fried pickles. I should branch out and try some more items. My beau usually gets the boneless wings and seems to really dig them. They are bigger than most boneless wings, which to me seems like a good thing. The often have beer specials, usually consisting of a domestic as well as a more interesting one. Come support this local restaurant. Oh, and Darrell Griffith does some amazing things for our community too. Look it up.

No place has better customer service then Griffs! Every employee greets and smiles when they see you. The waitress/bartender remembered us from last visit and welcomed us back. She remembered what we ordered last time, that never happens anymore. Darryl himself was there on the last visit and he said hello as he walked by. Now for the food… everything is just the best. No matter what you order you won’t be disappointed but the wings are a must. They are smoked, fall of the bone, flavorful. The sauces are made in house and are all delicious beyond words. Sweet Potato fries are pretty basic but come with a sweet praline sauce which makes it like a dessert. The sauce could be more thick, it’s a bit runny.

It all about the Chicken and Waffles!!! Better than home made, the Chicken was seasoned just right, and the Sweetpotatoe waffle fries. OMG!!! Love it !

One of my favorite places to grab a burger. Love the mozzarella burger. Not a huge sweet potato guy but I get the sweet potato fries every time I go. They are served with a praline sauce and delicious. Also try the catfish tacos. Serving are really good size portions. You could probably share with someone if you added an extra side.

Best bar-food! My table ordered 4 different meals and the deep fried pickles(nice and crispy, not soggy) and everything was delicious. Good prices. The dry rub complimented the sauces well.

I have been to Griffs several times and the food is great! The chef here is creative. Their sauces are phenomal. The ribs are great, salads are fresh and huge. Beers are cold and you may get to see a Louisville iconic figure. Do I need to say more? Yeah, the service. It has been consistent and straight foward. I have always sat at the bar and most bartenders are super friendly and stay one step ahead of you. Which is great and tells me that they know what they are doing. Oh and when you order take out, the host has it ready for you! Needless to say that I am glad I live close to this place and go back to it often.

Pleasantly surprised with this place. The wings were tasty. Their praline sauce is weirdly addicting and I feel it went great with the wings but I wouldn’t be afraid to pour it over ice cream. Ha! The mozzarella triangles were so great, think mozzarella sticks but SO much better, with a peppery breading.

Cute place ran in on a stormy night. Place was pretty slow but U of L is on Christmas break and it was a rough night weather wise plus two days before Christmas-so I would not use the fact it was slow as a mark against them. Now I had a Hot Brown for the first time there. The three native kentuckians said it looked like a fairly good facsimile(chopped bacon and tomatoes but ingredients were all there). It was fantastic! I was starving and could only eat 2/3rds of it. The other man had a hamburger(he is not known for exotic choices from what I understand) but he told me it was as good as any he’d ever had. The women both got boneless chicken wings– they both swore they were the best ever(I thought they were ok not the best ever but…) however the various sauces they provide were incredible! Praline, bourbon sciracha, teriyaki, BBQ, Tropical habanero and traditional(maybe more can’t recall). Only issue I had was waiter, who otherwise did a great job, kept bringing wrong beers. He did make it right however. I would be back.

Setting aside the fact that this establishment is owned by my favorite basketball player of all time, this was outstanding food. They combine several kinds of meat for their burger, including brisket and bacon. The result is juicy and delicious.

Traveling here for work and needed a place to watch what I thought would be an excellent game where Michigan would triumph against Ohio State. I was hopeful for the game(which looks like a foolish plan since the score is 35 – 13 in the fourth quarter…) but didn’t expect anything special from the food. But I was wrong! I had delicious boneless wings with Bourbon Sriracha sauce and they were literally the best chicken tenders I’ve ever had. Just perfect! The side of Mac and cheese was also super good. The service was also spot on. Attentive, quick and always pleasant. Basically, if it weren’t for the food, I would be crying my eyes out with rage/sadness because of the football game. Don’t get me wrong; I’m still depressed about the game, but the tasty food helped soften the blow. Great. Now the QB is hurt…

Had a meeting with some college students and one of them suggester Griff’s. Modern sports bar feel to the décor. Lots of memorabilia from the owner, but not too cluttered. TV’s in good viewing angles through out the restaurant, but not overbearing if you do not want to watch. I had the hot brown, I am new to Louisville so I am having these at any restaurant that serves it. The hot brown with hearty, served on thick Texas toast with plenty of meat of sauce. My friends had a very large salad and a grilled chicken sandwich, both looked great. It was a quick, uneventful lunch, with great tasting food. I felt like we all got a great value for what we had. This will be a repeat place for me.

The food was good! Prices were reasonable! The smoked wings were cooked perfectly and I had my dipping sauce on the side. The house salad was very fresh! Glad I went went that! Staff was nice — one guy(who wasn’t waiting on our table) was kind of annoying. Every time he walked past my table, he was a little«extra» and was trying to be way too cool. There were too many«i’m just joking» moments and he kept interrupting our conversation with small talk about nothing that was relevant to our meal. One or two times, fine — but not 8−10x during our meal. Overall, nice, small, clean restaurant. I’ll definitely be going back. It was also nice to see Mr. Griffith in the building even though I dee him all the time.

I’ve been to Griff’s twice so far, and I’m so happy a real, sit-down restaurant is now on Cardinal Boulevard. This place can get a bit crowded for lunch, but the first time we went, our group of 5 was accommodated after a short wait. The restaurant itself is pretty open and has lots of seating everywhere, so it can get a little noisy, but it’s worth it to be able to dine-in at a place just across the street from the university. I really enjoy what I’ve had thus far at Griff’s: catfish fingers & the buffalo chicken salad. What’s nice about the entrees(including the catfish fingers) is that you can, of course, switch out the fries for one of their other sides, including mac & cheese(which I definitely recommend). Also, if you get the catfish fingers, be prepared for at least one-two servings of leftovers. I got this before I left one Friday afternoon for a road trip, and it fed me from lunch, a snack, and dinner that night. I’m still in the undergraduate mentality a bit of getting leftovers, I was pretty excited about this. I really, really liked the buffalo chicken salad. I can’t tell, but their ranch tastes homemade and this salad was super filling & also comes with buttery, grilled bread. So, while Griff’s seems like a typical sports bar-type place from first glance and their menu is nothing too out of the ordinary, the quality and amount of food has impressed me.

Griff’s is a secret gem. Although, after writing this review, it may not be much of a secret. Located on Cardinal Blvd in Old Louisville, Griff’s is owned by local basketball legend Darrell Griffith. It is an upscale sports bar with lots of TV’s, a cool bar, friendly service and most importantly, excellent food. We started with an order of the dry rub wings — which happen to be the best bone-in wings either of us have ever had. They are meaty, juicy and the meat just falls off of the bone. Not to mention the dry rub is so good. We ordered the full rack of ribs and chicken and waffles for entrees. The ribs had the same delicious dry rub the wings had and were very tender and meaty as well. The chicken and waffles made me want to smack my mama. SOGOOD! The chicken was lightly breaded and well seasoned and came on top of sweet potato waffle fries with a spicy honey glaze sauce. We were extremely pleased with our service and food and can’t wait to go back. We even got to meet the man himself– Darrell Griffith. He was seated at the bar and happy to take a photo with us.

Honestly, Griff’s hasn’t sold me yet. I have never really been disappointed with anything that I have gotten … but I also have ordered anything I feel really compelled to go back. When we choose to go to Griff’s it’s more out of location and convenience than desire. The chicken waffles were really good but get the praline sauce on the side unless you like it REALLY sweet. The salads are good but the dressings are average. The burgers are probably my favorite thing on the menu — they are made with a combination of meats and they are always cooked well. The prices are also a little high for what you get but that may just be the location on a college campus. There is just something about Griff’s that feels very commercial. I can’t quite put my finger on it. I recommend trying it out for sure and coming to your own conclusion.

I work around the University and am always looking for good lunch spots. I was surprised how much I liked Griff’s. They have a nice menu from really quality looking salads to classic burgers and ribs. I got the fried chicken sandwich. They aren’t kidding when they said the chicken breast was huge. It was very tender, though a little greasy. The staff is very friendly. We got there at 11:30 and there were only a few people there. The closer to noon, the busier it got. I’d recommend getting there just before noon if you need to be back to an office quickly.

Summary: Everything was outstanding. I will return to experience other menu items AND will recommend this restaurant to others. We were greeted by welcoming smiles from the hostess and were seated immediately. Our server was friendly and attentive. Appetizer: The Loaded Chicken Quesadillia was really tasty. It was large enough for a one-person meal. It came with dark leafy romaine lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced red onions and spicy sour cream. Entrée: The«Original Cheeseburger» with cheddar cheese was absolutely amazing. It was so flavorful! The lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onions were fresh and crisp. The bun was ever-so-lightly toasted. Their burgers are a special blend of numerous cuts of beef that are ground in-house daily. This special blend makes the meat unbeliably juicy. This was indeed one of the best burgers I’ve had in this area. My side of sweet potato waffle fries was another delight. This restaurant did them justice by keeping them sweet instead of trying to force sweet potato fries to be salty. A sweet maple sauce praline came with them. The sweet tea was not syrupy-sweet, but just right.

The old man told me about the most unbelievable pralines sauce he had with sweet potato fries, and that I had to try it the next time we were in Louisville. So we stopped in for lunch I agree with everyone else, it’s a smart location, the décor is great, and there are plenty of TVs to keep you interested. The service was impeccable. Everyone was extremely nice. Our waiter and the manager(I presumed) made small talk with us, so that was nice. We also had the door held open for us, that’s always a nice touch. One of us is usually holding on, somehow, to the little one and the other has the bag and left overs. I ordered the catfish tacos and a side of mixed veggies. The old man ordered quesadillas, and he got an order of sweet potato fries. The fish tacos were yummy, I was desperately trying to figure out what the sauce was made of so I could recreate the tacos at home. The grilled veggies were good, and a smart choice for the day I had, and for my little one to munch on. Then I tasted the sweet potato fries and praline sauce. It was delicious! It really does taste like a praline. I was concerned it would taste«praline flavored» like so many things, but it was spot on. We got an extra order. I would recommend anyone giving it a try, there is something for everyone. I would definitely go back.

Griff’s is a very cool new sports bar opened by former UofL and NBA player Darrell Griffith. The restaurant is tucked away just off UofL’s campus, so it’s ideal for students or game goers. The inside is sleek and clean. It gives more of an upscale feel than the typical sports bar. The walls are covered in Darrell Griffith memorabilia. There’s plenty of interesting stuff to look at and read. I have no complaints about the food. I had the quesadilla appetizer as my meal with a side of sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries come with a praline syrup dipping sauce, which is great. It tastes like melted candy and is very sweet, but delicious. I love tasting different pairings with sweet potato fries. I also tasted the cheeseburger, which was excellent. So good that I’ll probably order a burger on my next visit. The prices are reasonable. Most of the burgers/sandwiches are $ 10 or less, and I think the entrees were around $ 14. Not bad at all. As we were walking into the restaurant, Darrell Griffith himself was walking out. I thought it was awesome to see that he is an active owner, and he is at his restaurant participating in the daily operations. Very cool.
