I left this store believing in the beauty of humanity. Seriously. I am not joking. I quit my job, and decided that I’d start a little handbag business on the side. I needed fabrics, but I was afraid of how much it would all cost. Taking a trip downtown I budgeted myself 40 dollars. The first fabric store I came upon was this one. Owned by a very patient and loving man he told me right off the bat everything was a dollar. EVERYTHING. He has some beautiful vintage stuff. Great prints. I bought vintage silk taffeta for a dollar. Beautiful carefully loved things. As I shopped we talked, and he is just about the nicest person I’ve ever met. By the end of my shopping there, he hands me the shears and tells me to take whatever I want. Anything I could desire. A dollar. Or free. He just gives it to me. And through it all he called me his daughter and wished me nothing but good luck. At the end I walked out with at least 2 – 300 dollars worth of stuff… How much did I pay? Forty dollars. That’s it.
