Excellent service by associates Gavyn and Fati via phone when I inquired about merchandise over the course of two days. Even though the item in question wasn’t even $ 20, I appreciated the effort Gavyn made to make sure the item was not only available, but was priced the same as the website. There was no need to place a hold, as there were plenty in stock. Stopped by later on in the day to check things out myself, but Gavyn was on lunch. Gave myself a day to think about this really inexpensive purchase(hey, I have my priorities here) and finally followed through the next day by placing a phone order. Spoke with Fati, letting her know I was in the previous day(and how I was helped by another associate) and she kindly gave him the sale. Of course, he happened to be on lunch again(bad timing; I arrived about the same time as yesterday) when I went to go pick up my order, but Fati had everything in the bag ready to go. I’ve been in touch with Gavyn since, and I also found a couple of items on their website I am interested in trying on. He let me know what my options were, and I’m very happy to say I will be returning to theory in the future to find something more significant than my first purchase. theory has made a great first impression!

Really disappointed with this store specifically and the female manager. I am a long time buyer and loyalist to Theory and having spent over a $ 1,500 dollars in the store a few weeks back, I thought they would be much more accommodating when one of their fabrics ended up being defective and when I asked to get refunded they simply stated«sorry». Well, they will be «sorry» when I take my devout business somewhere else, like Vince across the street. Shoppers beware of how insensitively they treat their customers.

Aside from having great clothing and suiting for men, the atmosphere and customer service are exceptional at this store. Every time I’m in the store, the staff are very friendly and helpful. They’re always willing to go the extra mile whether it’s a purchase or even a return/exchange which is why I continue to shop there.

Beware of shopping with this brand. They do not like returns and will make it next to impossible to return an item. I purchased a hoodie from the Theory 38 men’s line. It has several design flaws that rendered the garment next to impossible to comfortably wear. I called Customer Service and they told me to return the garment to the melrose store. The store refused to return the item. I have called Theory 4 times to resolve this issue and no one will do anything. Now I will dispute the purchase with AMEX. Theory should be ashamed! Shop with extreme caution!

If your man shops here, he’s a keeper. This is the stepping stone to a great style ahead. Every man should know how to dress and if you are questioning now as you’re reading my review, you need to come to this store and shop here. I was with my FH and I mostly saw gay men come in and out. That’s the number 1 clue to a great style.

Great store. Great service. I had to order something’s over the phone. I tried it in another shop which didn’t have my sizes. The girl from the LA store called the other store to get the exact names of the items I tried on, she took my credit card details and shipped everything to me with a next day FedEx. I couldn’t be any happier. They are great.

Great selection. The sales person was very friendly and helpful. She was able to find all my sizes. I didn’t get a little bottle of Fiji though. :)

In my little world of pleadings and motions, I don’t have much patience for theories – just undisputed facts, hard evidence. But I like this one. The clothes are simple, understated, well tailored and not overly bright, patterned or stylized. I don’t need to look like an outfit walking down the street. I’m a person. And, you know, it’s nice when people notice that sometimes.

I arrived at theory on melrose accompanied by my fashionista amiga. Now I don’t pretend to know fashion, high fashion for me is the sales rack at the gap. And part of my disdain for shopping also comes from the fact that I NEVER find clothes that fit me right. I’m 6 ft 4 inches tall, I wear a 34 waste and 34 length, and my collar size is 16, 36 arm length. Good luck with that one. Well my initial impression with theory is that the clothing look is very classic and understated. It’s like a tone down version of banana republic: casual, elegant, clean lines. To my surprise, they actually carried my size, the sales dude says the clothings are designed extra long, and the shirts fit perfectly! wow, I almost had tears in my eyes, checking myself out in the mirror. Then I looked at the price and my tears of joy suddenly became tears of agony. This shirt costs how much? I could have gotten like 5 khakis for this one shirt at the gap! of course they probably wouldn’t fit as well as this shirt does. Man, the price we pay for our vanity. Okay, so I bought the shirt, and became a new fan of theory. Special thanks to my fashionista amiga for introducing me to the world of high fashion. I will definitely be back for more, as soon as I get a raise.

I attended a LACMA-sponsored opening event for this sleek new store, and along with some friends took full advantage of the special discount. Why? Because there are great clothes to be bought here! I already owned a Theory blazer, cashmere sweater and some pants I bought overseas(the brand originates in Japan), and I was devastated that the new shop at the Century City Mall was women’s only. This new flagship store at Melrose Place answers my retail prayers. First of all, a heads up — Theory ain’t cheap! Second, I’m commenting on the guy’s stuff(they actually carry more women’s clothing). At first glance it all looks very simple and dare I say, boring. This brand is all about clean and classic items like blazers, button-downs, polos and pants, all done in really great, light, comfortable fabrics that drape well. As sort of a lean-and-lanky guy, I appreciate the tighter/fitted cut of their clothes — no billowy pleated MC-Hammer pants and blousy shirts. And as I mentioned, the fabrics and materials are just right. Service from the staff was excellent — perhaps due to the nature of the event, but I’d venture to say they just have a good, non-snobby attitude. The space is spacious and bright in clean and simple white and black. If you’re into understatement as opposed to bling, and you appreciate good materials and fit, invest in some threads from Theory.
