Got lunch for the whole crew here. Very over priced and sad to say the owner of this small restaurant was very rude. Food is very bland and over priced. I would never come here again or recommend this restaurant.

This place is freaking awesome! What a genius spot for a café. After you hike up to the observatory, or if you are a parent spending the day in the park/playground. This place could have bad food and it would still be awesome that it was here, but the food is SOGOOD. We had a fresh baked scone, an egg in a basket, and an egg salad sandwich that were all so fresh and tasty. The scone and eff in the basket were the highlight! But everything else on the menu looked great too. There was a little line and our coffees(Stumptown!) took a bit to come out but nothing outrageous for a Saturday afternoon. It has a great friendly vibe. Kids, dogs, families, even two ponies were around. Tons of outdoor seats around the little hut where you order. So so great. Wish I lived closer and could hike and come here every day!

This place is the cutest!!! A charming outdoor café right in Griffith Park at the end of the Fern Dell trial. They serve stumptown coffee, fruit, pastries and more. I stopped by on a Sunday morning, and there was a line, but it moved fast. They take cards, but there is a $ 5 minimum(the largest coffee is less than $ 4). There are picnic tables and seating available nearby. Staff gave my pup dog treats while we waited. This has become my new weekend coffee spot!

This café definitely caters to the clientele, super trendy, kitschy, vegetarian, etc. And therefore a little pricy($ 9 for sandwiches). But after a hike in Griffith Park you don’t have a TON of options unless you get in your car and leave. It is cute and rustic but for the prices the food was just okay. I ordered the cheddar and chive buttermilk biscuit and an «egg in a basket». Both were kind of hard with not a lot of flavor, I ended up loading on Tabasco sauce which helped a lot. So it’s okay, not great, with long lines, and slightly high prices. If anything you’re paying for the rustic-chic ambiance.

Get the sandwiches here! The Avocado Sandwich, Egg Sandwich, PB&J, I’ve tried all three and they are delish(and talk about FRESH). My friend and I’ve become regulars at The Trails; every Sunday mornings, we’re here after our brisk hike up to the Observatory and back. Staff are friendly and chill, my Earl Grey Crème warms me up every time and food is served relatively fast despite the intimidating long line.

Best apple pie ever! Lattes were also great! Came for the hike and had a great surprise with pie. We will be back!

Exceptional Avocado sandwich with sprouts onion and tomato. Coffee is from Stumptown. Staff is super friendly and the location is pure magic. They are dog friendly and you actually get to meet normal LA peeps! Best times to avoid lines on weekends are 8am or 11am. Great date place for pie and coffee in the afternoon.

It was a relaxing atmosphere outside. The avocado sandwich was tasty with some chips. Delicious apple pie and warm chocolate chip cookie. Happy tea is refreshing. Nice lunch spot to bring your pup!

Perfect for its location. Well variety of food & drinks for a small place. Came after hiking up the Hollywood place. Much needed after being hungry & thirsty. I love where it’s located, how it’s set up, & what their menu has to offer. Wasn’t looking for anything fancy after being dirty from the hike. Sitting outside benches as a picnic. Now for the food, they offer sandwiches, snakedog(Kinda like a corn dog) & lots of delicious pastries… I wanted to try them all lol Had the avocado sandwich which was delightful & the snakedog was okay but great that I’ve never had it before. Great choice if you are in the area

Open 7 days a week now! Charming as always. The long lines seem to move a little faster these days. The tomatoes on the avocado sandwich haven’t been as magical as in the past(they traditionally tasted like they’d just pulled them off a vine out back… and I’m not really a tomato fan, but I’ve sent tomato lovers here just for that sandwich). I’d finally trained myself not to go on hikes on Mondays because these folks were closed… now need to untrain myself again. Seems more crowded that in the past too? Still plenty of bench seating under the pine trees, dog water bowls, organic coffee, PIE, and overall goodness.

My fiancé brought me here on a sweet lunch date. We brought our dog Nino with us and they offered him water and a treat which was wonderful. The café/eatery is sandwiched(no pun intended) in the hills of Griffith Park and it’s very pleasant and charming. Cute outdoor camp style benches and tables, and bistro lighting. I guess you could say the place is vegetarian because I could not find any meat items on the small menu. I had the egg salad sandwich, my fiancé had the avocado sandwich. We shared chips. It was simple clean eating and tasty. I added a pinch of salt to my sandwich. but overall they were decent. The place also offers scones, cookies, pie, and other yummy treats but I was watching my calories that day lol. Next time tho! We went for a walk thru the park afterwards and it was nice. I think we were hungry 2 hours later tho lol. Stars for scenic vibes and an opportunity for ppl to eat something somewhat substantial while they are wandering in the wilderness. Just don’t come here thinking you are going to have a feast.

Cute café with picnic style seating and a great avocado sandwich. The«snake dog» my boyfriend got looked terrible though; he said it was«just okay.» It was also over $ 5, if I remember correctly, which is too much for a small mediocre hot dog and tiny cup of fruit. Also, I don’t understand why they don’t have cold water. The bottles of water are room temp and so is the water dispenser they have out. Why pay for tepid water? That didn’t make sense considering lots of hikers on hot days stop by for lunch. Despite my complaints I really did enjoy the avocado sandwich– very filling.

You go to Trails because you’re already at Griffith Park; you don’t go out of your way to go to Trails. Their food is not amazing but it’s serviceable enough and hits the spot after hiking. For breakfast they offer quiche, muffins, scones, and biscuits. After 10:00am they start serving hot items like sandwiches. Note: They will make you wait until like 9:58am to order those items. They also have an array of cookies and pies. The worst thing I’ve eaten there was the vegan strawberry banana scone. It tasted like particle board. The strawberry lemonade is on the watery side. I prefer their summer peach iced tea. I didn’t like the tasteless red pepper quiche. The strawberry rhubarb muffin is pretty good and so is the cheddar one. The lavender shortbread is a tad too soapy for my taste. Anyway, I might sound like I’m hatin’ on Trails but it’s fine and you gotta appreciate a café in the middle of the park. I just wish their food was better. Bring your dog, get a snack, sit at a picnic table under the trees and enjoy being outdoors!

Second time here in as many years. This quaint café fell off my radar until a friend suggested it as a meeting spot. Both times I’ve ordered the avocado sandwich… tender squaw bread, spread, cheddar,(faux?) bacon bits, sprouts, and tomato with loads of diced avocado. $ 9 seems reasonable for this massive sandwich. Fresh strawberry lemonade was refreshing. It took all my will power not to order a slice of vegan strawberry rhubarb pie… it looked heavenly. Gives me something to look forward to next time! Perfectly fast & friendly service. Plenty of street parking. Restrooms accessible in the back(ask for key). $ 5 minimum for credit charge.

I was shocked by the area around the Trails Café. It’s not as packed as the rest of Griffith Park. Parking was easy on a Sunday mid-morning. They serve vegan pies and baked goods, sandwiches, and coffees and teas. They do have a $ 5 min charge for cards. The space around it has picnic tables and a camp-like(but clean) bathroom. Extremely tranquil area. It’s a gem!

Wow!!! I saw this place on Huell Howser’w show and wanted to check it out. So last weekend, after a long hike up through Fern Dell to the Griffith Park Observatory, we were super hungry and stopped back her before heading out. I love Egg Salad, and the sandwich I got was fantastic. I am not sure, but even the bread tasted homemade. Either that or I was famished(which was true!) I had a Hibiscus Lemonade on the side which was ask great. Finished with an amazing lavender shortbread cookie. So good! The outdoor seating area was great. Ample picnic table seating and beautiful trees shaded the whole area. Hiking or not, stop by the Trails!

I was watching an old Huel Howser PBS clip and saw this food stand being reviewed by Huel for his documentary show. The food looked and sounded great, so I had to try the Avocado sandwich, which was a few years ago. Today, I had to be sure this place is still as good as I remembered, so I visited Fern Dell and drove up the road along the trail to find«The Trails» at the beginning of the picnic tables and rest station. Yup, the food was still here and more popular than ever. There were tourists and seniors taking in some of the best organic food before their slight hike through the ferns. Try the Avocado Sandwich, which is probably the best that I’ve had, and could not reproduce. I also bought the Apple Pie, which was tasted on TV by Huel Howser. I just had to taste it for myself. Although this restaurant is not Zagat rated(I don’t think) it is a most quaint restaurant that does a brisk business for breakfast and lunch. During the summer, I think they do even better, and seems like an oasis after a long hike through Griffith Park.

Came here after hiking and discovered this little café/restaurant. Apparently many people come up here just for the food as well. Pet friendly, a little hut off the street up to Griffith. The line and wait time can get pretty long. They have plenty of picnic tables to sit at. Quiche — never been a big fan of quiche but this was very very tasty Strawberry rhubarb pie — didn’t know what rhubarb was exactly but it def enhanced the flavor by adding a bit of texture to the pie, really enjoyed it. Avocado Sandwich — I wasn’t a fan of the sprouts so i’d prob try something else next time but it didn’t bother me as much because there were SO much avocado. Very flavorful I would come back again to try the other stuff.

Wonderful customer service, great food and beautiful scenery. I got the avocado sandwich, it was delish! Vanilla latte was so good and served with a heart on top. Lemonade was fresh and tasty. Chocolate chip cookie was homemade and so good. I had to go buy another. Lavender cookie, to be tasted but looks and smell wonderful. I have to go back a couple more times

Super cute restaurant nestled between the trees right before the Griffith Observatory hiking trail with delicious sandwiches and pastries! Every time I come to do the Griffith Observatory hike I find myself dropping by afterwards for a bite to eat after my workout. There’s always a line down the stairs and for good reason! The food here is fresh and really healthy. There’s not much for meat options with the exception of the Snakedog($ 5 — all beef frank wrapped in puff pastry with side of fresh fruit). I usually get the Avocado sandwich($ 8.50 — avocados, tomatoes, red onions, soy«bacon bits», alfalfa sprouts, cheddar cheese, mayo) and that’s enough for two to share for a light lunch. For those who love dessert, the pies are also really good. So for a quiet picnic at the park or an after workout meal you can count on Trails for a tasty bite to eat!
