Good drinks and speedy service make this a good place to hang with a group of friends, but the ambience is what you make of it, so bring good friends. There isn’t a juke box or a pool table or anything else, so you gotta make your own fun.

Best bar tender in town(Brian). As a Los Angeles local, I come to this bar over any other because of his service and expertise. The entire staff is very incredibly friendly and entertaining.

My roommate and I came here for Dine LA(yes… this is a very overdue review…) and this has got to be one of the worst Dina LA experiences we’ve ever had! It took absolute AGES for our food to come out. I think we waited maybe 30 mins between appetizer, entrée, and dessert. We asked several times for our entrée, asked for dessert when the entrée was served(because we knew it’d take a long time), and requested the check as dessert was being served(who knew how long that’d take??). Service was good. Food was mediocre. But until they find a way to cook food faster… I will not be returning here.

The 4* is for the amazing décor. The food sucks. This is certainly a social spot for drinks and networking with friends.

The fact that an overpriced, mediocre bar, located in a glorified Holiday Inn, is getting such props in the review department is what stirred me into action to write the following. Four of us visited this place for one drink on our way to a concert at Hollywood Bowl last month. Our group sat down in a lounge-y section by some oddly-placed computers for at least ten minutes before a busser took pity on us and asked if we had been helped. A server appeared and took our order(a martini, two beers and a glass of water). The first three drinks arrived, but the water did not. Ten minutes later, our server seemed to remember her folly and brought over a glass of water. Personally, I thought the place was beat and I would look for another option to kill some time before a show. Perhaps at one of those street grills that sell the bacon-wrapped hot dogs.

The perfect: I-just-came-from-a-concert-at-the-Hollywood-Bowl-and-I-don’t-feel-like-battling-traffic-bar. OR The: I’m-staying-at-the-Hollywood-Heights-Hotel-for-a-night-or 2-and-I-don’t-feel-like-leaving-the-hotel-bar. Luckily for me I fell into the 1st category. Classy and very clean bar in a VERY relaxed atmosphere. I’m somewhat peeved that I didn’t try the food. My only gripe about this place is the distance between the bar and the bathrooms. The walk to the city of Anaheim is closer.

My boyfriend and I stopped in to get a drink and a quick bite before the Kings of Leon concert at the Bowl, and the service was non-existent. We were seated at a table in the dining room and given only one menu for both of us to look at, but it didn’t really matter since no one came to take our order. The dining room was empty, except for one other table. No water, no bread, no greeting. Finally, we went up to the bar to order a drink and mentioned that nobody was waiting on us. They apologized, reseated us, and the same exact thing happened again. Eventually, a very flustered waiter came by our table and didn’t even apologize for making us wait. We ordered 2 more drinks(which never arrived), a flatbread(which never arrived), and a hamburger that showed up 15 minutes before the DRY ½ roasted chicken I ordered came. Now, the chicken was zapped of every ounce of moisture it once contained, and if it wasn’t already dead, I would have thought someone killed it again. It came with some sides… some really over-salted braised greens, and something else which obviously wasn’t memorable enough to stick. I don’t know what happened to the glass of wine I ordered, but when I went to the bar to find out, the bartender told me she gave it to my server to deliver. Guess he must’ve drank it because it never made it to our table. At that point, I complained to the GM, but he didn’t step in to correct anything, or even offer an apology. Disaster.

If you like green glass spheres hanging from wires this is the place for you. On the other hand, if you want reasonable service avoid this place like it has the plague. I’m here before the Eagles concert and three groups left because they. were waiting and waiting and waiting. Much like i’m doing now. Thirty four minutes and one visit by the waiter and no food yet. Just bread… Yum.

Ate breakfast and dinner here many days on a trip to Hollywood to see a sick relative. The people are first and foremost in this very modern, nicely-decorated restaurant. The menu is surprisingly simple, with just a few offerings in each category. That keeps things simple. Burgers are very good and served with luscious tomatoes — not the pasty kind we’re used to back East. A «hanger steak» wasn’t really that cut of meat at all; it was a sirloin that’d been cris-crossed with a knife. Not bad, however; the peculiar cut made the meat suck up the great mushroom sauce served with it. Fries were replaced with mashed on request. The crab cakes are just marvelous, and addictive. A cheese platter offering is perfect if you’re opting for one of their delightful wines by the glass — and there’re a lot of them. The shining star of the menu was the short ribs: a beefy winner. Bartenders were good at their craft and produced great offerings that were priced on the low end of the Hollywood spectrum. Breakfasts were fresh and abundant. The hollandaise on the eggs benedict was so obviously from a mix it wasn’t funny, however. Save your money and get something a little less elaborate. For a quick breakfast, on some days they offer a «continental buffet» with interesting breadstuffs, fruit, juice and coffee. Since it’s more-or-less serve-yourself, you can get out very quickly if you’re running late. Even if we weren’t staying in the area, we’d have returned(and paid the $ 5 parking) to eat here.

Probably my worst fine dining experience in LA. It took an hour and a half from the moment we were seated until we got our food. Service was terrible and amateur, even though the place was completely empty. The bread wasn’t fresh, the food was too salty. The setting is cozy and nice, I’ll give them that. But that’s it. This place is a terrible choice for dinner. Stay away.

I like the decorations here(mod lounge feel). The bar tender was nice. The bar menu is okay(simple, but good for getting the night started). But it’s missing energy. Needs some acid jazz turned up to volume 6(out of 10).

First off I guess I made the mistake of going there during the dinner rush but I found out the entire dining room was taken up by a large party. I was advised the kitchen was backed up already so since I was starving, I ordered the fastest and easiest items on the menu to go. Or so I thought was the easiest. I ordered the soup of the day which I was advised was tortilla soup and a Cobb salad. Mind you I asked the bartender what the soup was and he didn’t know so I had to ask the manager who also didn’t know. Sigh. Then I asked a server who finally advised me what the soup of the day was. Then I made a mistake and asked what my options for dressings were for my Cobb salad. This question was received in the same manner as my soup of the day question. Double sigh. I guess the restaurant must have known I was on a diet because they gave me tortilla soup with no tortilla and one cube of chicken(lukewarm by the way when I got it) and a Cobb salad with no dressing whatsoever. I was going to order the macaroni and cheese but I would assume they would have just given me the macaroni and left off the cheese for my own good. I would not have been so annoyed had it not been a take away order and I didn’t realize my order was messed up until I arrived to my destination. Did I add that I was feeling like I was coming down with a cold too? At that point, I didn’t want to go back there just to get my dressing(ranch by the way) and what is supposed to resemble a tortilla soup. EPICFAIL on this restaurant.

What an unexpected treat! Pretty room, pretty patio, excellent service, great menu… all-around A-OK!!! I got a Cocktail that was perfectly refreshing, packed a great punch, and showed up so quickly I didn’t even have time to read 2 things on the menu. I was blown away by the yummy Short Ribs. Never would have expected short ribs this good at the bottom of a hotel in which I destroyed one of their rooms way back in 1990 before a Tom Petty concert with 6 of my college buddies… forgive me. Really enjoyed the flat bread pizza with caramelized onions. I’ve walked passed this place about 3 times since it had opened have never been compelled to go in since it looked completely deserted… keep in mind, I’m usually jogging or walking really fast to make it to the Hollywood Bowl to meet some friends for a show. I have now found a fine place to hang, sit, sip, and nibble solo, without being hassled by a bunch of douchey dudes, while waiting for friends to arrive to the Bowl. Enjoy!

*** wow, another amazing nite here. *** this is now my «go to» spot after concerts at Hollywood Bowl. I met friends for Tues Nite Classics and the Philharmonic did a phenomenal job with British classical. So we all stopped here for nightcap. Unlike the last visit, we ordered«Teasers» from their appetitizers menu. We chose short ribs and the flatbread with onions. omfg both were delish … really delish. I met the cellist and a few other orchestra members while I was here. They had a reserved section and where quite friendly. Perhaps the cook was just showing off for them last nite? I dunno but everything we tasted exceptional good and prices low!!! *** I’m walk’n up to the Bowl from now on. ***

This place is bogus. I only went there after they dropped off flyers at out apartment complex offering what seemed to be a good happy hour deal. –from 5−7pm &10pm-12am – $ 3 beers, $ 5 ‘premium’ well drinks, &50% off appetizers. Seems good, right? Well for starters we show up after the LA Phil gets out at 10:45. Our waiter proceeds to tell us the specials are over. What? It’s 10:45. After arguing back and forth for a minute he realized it was 10:45, he thought it was 11:45…Whatever – mistakes happen. He then brings out our drinks. My friend’s vodka/coke was flat. When we asked for another one, out came the diva attitude. «Taste’s fine to me.” – well then you’re a moron. Why would you even say that? Where does this guy think he works. It’s a hotel bar tourist trap that probably survives on the Hollywood Bowl and their out of town hotel guests that don’t know anywhere else to go. He’s acting like head bartender at Hyde. The chicken sate appetizer we got was frozen chicken that tasted like bio tech plastic. It was also undercooked. Then we got out bill and realized the appetizer wasn’t half off. I just took it off his tip and bounced. Hope to never be back. The place looks like an Ikea catalogue on crack. They play crappy top 40 songs and have crappy service.

The Hideout is great for breakfast(Try the breakfast panini!) and probably for a casual business lunch. After hours, The Hideout shows potential for a Hollywood hot spot. There is an appetizer menu and a list of specialty cocktails with Hollywood starlet themes. The Hideout currently attracts Hollywood Heights Hotel guests and people leaving The Hollywood Bowl. Careful planning and promotion would draw a more diverse crowd, incorporating locals into the mix. Too much thought went into the décor to be wasted on hotel guests alone. A dimly lit interior and a secluded patio enhance The Hideout’s appeal. The kitchen could stay open longer. The bar could afford to stay open until 2:00 A.M. on a consistent basis. Special events(Trivia night? Trunk shows?) would be excellent at The Hideout.

My friends and I were off to the Hollywood Bowl for a private event and saw«The Hideout» along the way. We decided to stop in before entering the Bowl. Good Decision! This place is the closest bar/restaurant next to the Bowl so if you’re looking for one last quick drink or meal before the show this is your place. The Hideout has a warm, comfortable feel without the usual pretentiousness of a typical Hollywood bar. The staff were very friendly and attentive and best of all the drinks were deliciously strong! We happened to be there during a happy hour so all of our appetizers were ½ off who hoo! Whether going to see a show at The Bowl or not, Hollywood locals know that this is a cool joint with strong drinks, cheap eats and a great patio. Quick tip: Get your parking validated for $ 5 or you can park at the Highland Hollywood complex for $ 2(validate at the complex) and walk up Highland. Also, tip well it will go a long way!

Came here on Friday evening on the way to see friends and again had a very great experience. I just had a drink so can’t comment on the food this time. I had to drop a star due to the fact the mgmt NEEDS to change the music. Ode to OTIS elevator top 40 just doesn’t fit with a sleek and modern décor… Something with few more bpm. say about 100bps or so would be great for the bar area. dinning area. some modern Jazz!

What a hidden gem! I never knew this place existed as it used to be a different hotel and is off the beaten path just around the corner from the busy, touristy Hollywood/Highland area which I don’t particularly like. The décor is beautiful, very stylish and the patio is awesome you’d never know you were on Highland Blvd! It’s just down the road from Hollywood Bowl too so it’s a good place to grab a quick bite/drink before you go see a show, but I recommend going at least 2 hours before the show starts as it can be be busy if everyone has the same idea! The food is definitely«contemporary comfort food» or good mood food, the macaroni cheese and the ganache cake are my faves and the bar has some awesome cocktails that are sure to give you a nice feeling with their 3 oz manhattans! The bartenders will even make you something if you have a particular craving like my «minty chocolately drink» craving! Their drinks are very reasonable here too only $ 10 for a specialty cocktail using top shelf liquor… I know… in Hollywood! Also, they have an awesome happy hour 5−7PM which I can rarely find in Hollywood so I’ll be bringing my friends here especially for the happy hour since I haven’t found one happy hour in this neighborhood! So overall, great food, great drink, great staff and a chill hangout that’s not a «scene» the only thing I wish they had is some upbeat music and maybe even a DJ on the weekends.
