Adventures in LA involve spontaneity and the right people. My incredibly fun friend of mine introduced me to Tacos El Gavilan Taco Truck in the middle of his hood. If you’re ever in the area, this food truck is late night post-drinking and dancing GRUB! $ 1.50 tacos of the carnivorous variety and $ 4 veggie burrito, that’s a deal! My friend did all the interacting with semi-happy looking gentleman in my picture. Old school big screen TV playing telenovelas or watch news on the flat screen in the dining room, I was highly and easily entertained there. Now, who cares if the LA County Public Health determined the truck to be a «B» rating, that’s part of the adventure ;) BTW, no signs and symptoms of foodborne illness(AKA: food poisoning) after consumption of my burrito after –Just FYI –lol

Great quesadillas and very fast service. I love this place. Everything seems tasteful and delicious perhaps it’s because I’m usually hungry and in need of cheese when I come here but it’s always tummy.

Talk about a come up! El Gavilan is super legit, I had the asada burrito with everything. This included juicy asada, rice, beans, onions and cilantro. Paired with roasted jalapeños, lime and ravano. I ordered the jor horchata, and it was ok. Its not homemade, but the powdered version was ok. Easy ordering and they are open late check them out at any of there locations in south los angeles.

This is just down the street from my house. I use to go multiple days per week because the burritos use to be good. However idk what it is but they aren’t up to standard anymore. The chicken tacos are not what tacos should taste like. The quesadilla is ok. Nothing tasted fresh or freshly made. I know its a taco truck but come one. I do like the champurrado tho however you spell it.

Taco El Gavilan is slowly but surely expanding! As far as my knowledge the«taco stand» started in south central l.a. In my opinion, and i’m not the only person who feels this way, these are some of the best tacos in LA; period! Their horchata is delicious and ver refreshing. After a drinking binge, these tacos will hit the spot!

Hungry after Concert at Forum Friday Night Nov 512am I’ve eaten at Tacos El Gavilan before at the street truck on Gage and storefront on Florence in HP. I dont know what is but their taco trucks seem to have a better taste. Maybe because Ive only eaten at the trucks when Ive been drinking all night LOL! I ordered a carne asada burrito. Lots of meat, rice, beans, cilantro, onions and salsa, very tasty all ingredients were fresh. The burrito was big enough to share with my wife. We just wanted a quick bite; we were headed to another party. To top it off, burrito was only $ 5 even whuuut! Use to live in LA live in Chino Now we dont have any taco places that come close. People think King Taco is the sh– too bad they dont know any better. To the owners: Please build a Tacos Gavilan in Chino Ontario Pomona area.

True Mexican food. Me gusta mucho la crema y el queso fresco en Los sopes. Las aguas frescas son deliciosas.

i stumbled upon this place looking for Tacos Los Guichos — they’re diagonally across from each other for the confusion so i ended up ordering tacos from this place(i still ordered from Tacos Los Guichos but that was because i was hungry) they have a large selection of tacos you can choose from, and they have 1 or 2 items that Tacos Los Guichos doesn’t have so if you have time and are willing to cross streets, i would check out both places if you’re hungry or see which menu selection you like the most and choose from there prices are comparable, but the parking here is much better. probably because they are in a bigger lot that they can have a «dining» area and condiments you can add if you want. would come back again but i would have a hard time deciding between this place and Tacos Los Guichos lol

I went here a few years ago and the tacos were pretty good and last night was craving tacos so decided to go here. Well the place has changed and so has the food, the tortillas were stiff and the horchata was not good at all. And to make things worse it got me pretty sick I was in bed all day the following day after eating here from food poisoning. I’ll never go back there again!

The 1st time I went to a Taco Truck was the El Gavilan on Main Street and Gage Ave. I was always ashamed because back in the days it was considered kind of disgusting to eat of a food truck aka«The Roach Coach» I would not even tell others how good it was because I would have to tell them I ate that shyt. Fast Forward into the 2000’s and I was fronting like i was one of the first to discover how good these tacos were… telling everybody how good they were. Unilocal…Yelp.I learned what a taco is suppose to taste like fom El Gavilan

Best authentic tacos from a truck. There’s always a crowd. Everyone around here knows this is the spot.

Consistently the Best tacos I’ve ever had hands down! I recommend the tacos Al pastor. Tortillas are softened up al vapor just right the meat is always tasty! You get all the regular fixings that should be included but from other places they don’t give you. The boiled sweet onion & jalapeño are the bomb! Ask for their guacamole dressing & frijolitos & you will be all set! Best damn tacos for the price period you won’t find better anywhere in LA for sure!

Great tortas, tacos(asada, buche, cabeza, and lengua) Champurrado is best ive ever tasted. Prices are good, orders come pretty fast. 1 star off only because their pastor is not all that.

The original Tacos El Gavilan! I have been coming here ever since I can remember, early 90s. They have the best tacos in the area & for cheap! Their tacos can’t be compared to King Taco’s, they’re just on different sides of the spectrum. Their tacos de al pastor and carne asada are my favorite! Especially when you put the salsas and toppings, so delicious! I want some right now! The tortas are also really good! You can never go wrong buying an horchata to accompany your tacos! It’s nice to see that they have branched out and have different locations all over South LA. It is always busy and they’re open late! Go now!

Best tacos and champurrado in LA!!! Is not fancy, the guacamole is on big buckets but I think the dirt is what gives the tacos the real flavor. Champurrado is really good too! Awesome street food!

They say the Lord works in mysterious ways. That’s what was going through my head when I stumbled my way, semi-intoxicated with my designated driver to our parking space after seeing Screeching Weasel @ Club Nokia! Along the way what did I see but a glorious light coming from a food truck and the smell of fresh ingredients, spices, and El pastor cooking on a grill sent me running to place an order. I ordered the Carnitas Burrito along with a cheese quesadilla and a water to both quench my thirst and prevent a hangover the next day =) The burrito was bursting with flavor and the quesadilla had so much cheese I thought I’d have a heart attack right there in the middle of Los Angeles. So in conclusion my fellow Angelinos, whenever you in the HeART of L.A. follow your nose to Tacos El Gavilan Taco Truck and you’ll leave a converted believer!!! AMEN!!!

We were starving, after having some margaritas at The Orpheum theatre. Trini Lopez was presenting«Latin Music Legends» PBS Pledge Break. Since they were filming at the location, they kept on retaking some of the shots for PBS television. After all that work we worked up an appetite, so we wanted to get some of those mexican hot dogs with the bacon and jalapenos & onions. Well we knew where that would take us straight to the CVS store with all the heartburn. Well I decided that we could get some decent tacos for a couple of bucks for tonight. This is one of the taco trucks I really enjoy and trust the quality. Parking is always questionable here so be aware of the riff raff. They are always open late; plus they are building a new place up the street.
