Do yourself a favor and try the POFFERTJES (little pancake bites with a soften core). I recommend asking for nutella on the side so you can control the sweetness of each bite.

The POFFERTJES are the best! I can eat this all day every day! I had the classic with just powdered sugar and butter. I wonder if the ones with Nutella or berries would take away from the yummy flavor of the pancake? I will have to try next time! You get quite a bit, so hopefully, there are people to share it with! Worth it!!!

This truck was hard for me to track down, but once I finally got to try it, the food was worth it!
My friend and I shared the giant Nutella waffle, Pufertjes with strawberries and their home whipped cream. I would rate the waffle a 3.5 stars. It was a bit too sweet for my liking. The Pufertjes however were amazing! I would definitely rate them ⁵⁄₅. They were perfectly soft and doughy, covered in butter and powdered sugar. What else could you ask for? I’m drooling right now just thinking about them…
All in all, I would definitely go back and get the Pufertjes. I highly recommend!

Totally incredible and addictive. We find them frequently on Sawtelle on weekend nights. The food truck is family owned. The people serving are delightful. Our favorite item is poferchess (spelling might be off). They are handmade, delightful, small cloud like pancakes that are moist inside and covered with powdered sugar, handmade gelato and Nutella. Each bite is better than the next. The portions are generous, but you could eat the whole thing after one bite – It’s that addicting! I brought my family from out of town here, we devoured the entire thing. They can’t wait to go back again. Well done! This truck is a gem in the LA area and certainly one-​of-​a-​kind. If you see it, stop by, and try something new!

Sweet Amsterdam offers two kinds: Poffertjes and Stroopwafel.
Poffertjes are small pancakes filled with a sweet cheese. Traditionally, they are served with butter and powdered sugar but other toppings are popular. This food truck in particular provides a variety of combinations from chocolate/​nutella, fruit, and banana splits topped with a small scoop of gelato.
Stroopwafels are thin wafer cookies sandwiched in between a thin layer of caramel. It goes amazingly well with ice cream. These cookies are also available at Whole Foods, Bristol Farms, and Sprouts if anyone wishes to try them — they are just not made fresh, right on the spot.
We tried the classics first before moving on to more complicated varieties and found them to be very satisfyingly sweet. The stroopwafels in particular were great to have on a cold night as they came out fresh.
The gelato did not make a strong impression and was mediocre. The Poffertjes were very decent and interesting to eat. The Stroopwafels were perfect.
These are slightly expensive, starting at $ 4.50 to $ 8.95 but the Stroopwafels are huge and to be fair, it is rare to get an actual authentic European dessert made right from scratch in Los Angeles of all places so we were willing to pay the price.

I’ve tasted the packaged stroopwaffles in the stores, but this is off the hook. Warm and soft, yet it crunches in your mouth like a cookie. This is like a comfort food.

First time customer. The classic puffertjes are fantastic. Just enough sweetness to complement everything else in it. I love traditional pancakes but these were the perfect size. It will be hard to go to the regular stuff. The whipped cream tasted home-​made (?) but I might be wrong!

The waffles are actually thin waffle sandwiches, which are soft and filled with a thin layer of sweet paste. Kind of tastes like a large, flat fig newton minus any fruitiness.

I found this dessert truck on Melrose with a buddy of mine. We were both craving something along the lines of a dessert.
I ended up having a cup of their Salted Caramel gelato, with crumbs of waffles sprinkled on top. It was simply delicious! I WANT some now! ;-)

So we discovered this place on Sawtelle, and it’s absolutely amazing! The real deal. My husband is Dutch & I’m European so we were super excited to try the Smores stroopenwafels & of course the Dutch classic poffertjes. Both were excellent, spot on, just like you would buy in Holland & I literally can’t wait to go back. Putting smores with the waffel is genius. And poffertjes just melt in your mouth so you totally forget how many youve eaten! :-) The owner Farhad who is Dutch, is super nice & welcoming and very excited that people are loving his desserts. Count me in. A big fan who will be stalking the place. Hee hee! :-) Delicious!

Toje deserts were delicious, and I really do want to love this place, let me tell you my story. I get there and place my order, about 5 minutes later I see them fooling around in the kitchen, and ask how long it’s going to take. Only then did they put my order in. Very yummy but I’m not sure I will be coming back…

Delicious! I asked the woman what her favorite was… and she replied the smores waffle sandwich… let me tell you I was not disappointed. Fresh! Delicious! I’m definitely a fan of these guys!!!

This sweet truck has awesome treats! Their waffle and puffy pancakes are truly amazing.
