I parked almost a mile away to eat falafel. and it’s closed. what the heck! It was almost a year since I came here but it was a surprise cause it was always so busy. walked to the Village Idiot to have some fish and chips instead :)

Very good food, semi-chaotic atmosphere. This place is extremely cramped, especially when you’re at the counter area to wait in line or order. It’s bustling with a few workers frantically working on orders; they’re kind of gruff and friendly at the same time, much like a hole-the-wall place in NYC. My party of two ordered the falafel plate and the chicken shawarma sandwich, which was plenty of food for us(we had food left over). It’s tasty, filling and satisfying stuff; the shawarma sandwich was especially good, as were the red and green chili sauces we got. Everything was good, really. I’m not sure their hygiene standards are the best, however. I did see the older man(presumably the owner) use a TV remote control with his bare hands, then go back to food prep without washing. I was glad another guy was preparing my food.

I love this hole-in-the wall restaurant! It’s a bit small on the inside but the food absolutely makes up for it… The food seems fresh, the restaurant and kitchen are clean, and the meats are apparently all kosher. What made us come back were the fresh made falafels. I had never seen this done, and we’ve been hooked ever since. The schwarma baguette was good aswell and I had that my first time there. Finally the owner(or manager) is quite welcoming… He thanked us for coming back and really made us feel at home and we had only been there twice! Highly recommended!

A 3-star ambiance with 5-star food. Who knew you could get authentic Greek food on Melrose? This place is worth checking out for quick, delicious lunch.

I was on Melrose Saturday when they are closed and had to step back saying«did I just pass by a falafel place?» It is easy to miss. I did go in today. Their hours are Sunday-Thursday, 12 – 8; Friday 12 until about 2 hours before sunset(at this time, it is 6pm). As mentioned, they are closed Saturdays. The inside layout seems a bit cramped, so my suggestion is to either eat outside or take out. They have good falafel, which is the only thing I would get. If you are vegetarian/vegan, because it is technically a meat restaurant this is not exactly kosher. Here is the rest of the menu(if there is no price, use the one above it): ENTREES Served with two choices of side orders: cabbage, red cabbage, rice, Israeli salad, fries Falafel $ 7.95 Chicken mix, $ 13.95 Shnitzel, $ 12.95 Chicken breast Chicken kabab Beef kabab Shawarma, $ 11.95 Humus, $ 4.95 PITA Falfel, $ 5.50 Shnitzel, $ 8.45 Chicken breast Beef kabab Chicken mix Chicken kabab Shawarma, $ 7.45 Omelette, $ 5.95 Baguette Add, $ 1.70 Panini Sandwich, $ 8.95 DRINKS Soda, $ 1.45 Bottle of water, $ 1.55 Juice, $ 1.95 Prigat, $ 2.25

Please remember why this place is authentic. If you were to go to any city in the Near East, you will find bad décor restaurants with excellent fresh food. In Israel the food is even fresher due to the Kosher standards. As an Israeli who always ate at the dumpiest spots in Israel I can tell you those are always the best. Go to Star with the intentions of eating, not socializing. In fact, have it to go. The food is excellent and the staff are family.

Just finished browsing through the Melrose flea market and were starving so decided to walk down the street on Melrose to find a quick place to eat. Don’t come here!!! It freaking takes forever, the thing is, I’m ok with waiting if there is a lot of people being serviced, but this was not the case at all!!! I’m still waiting for my food so I decided to write a review while I wait. LAME!
