This is a jewelry studio located in the Hive complex of galleries on Spring Street. I stumbled upon Sarah’s enamel and metal pieces at the Art Walk, and I have to say I am very impressed. Her work shows creativity and a bit of the medical macabre, along with a good dose of animal cuteness. The necklace that I bought was unique in that the enamel pendant is double sided with an sweet little white rat on one side and a grey rat on the other. Even though I don’t normally buy jewelry, I was so touched by the animal in the piece(it reminded me of a childhood pet that I adored) that I had to get it. I talked a little with her, she gave me a card, and she seemed like a genuinely nice person. She said that if the enamel in the pendant gets damaged, she can arrange to get it fixed. Her other work is amazing, with anatomical renderings and dental themes in jewelry… but way out of my budget. If you want to invest in something that is one of a kind, she is the person to buy from. I almost bought the enamel whale, and I might go back for it in a week or two, but for now I am very happy with the rat. I should also add that she accepts credit cards, but it takes her a minute to boot up her iPad, so be patient. I absolutely recommend if you are checking out the Hive.
