i was torn between giving savor’s a 3 and a 4 star rating. i’ve had everything from beef quesadillas to empanadas to hot dogs to the pizza. i’ve pretty much covered the menu here. i like that food comes quickly and i like that the portions are huge. the food is DEFINITELY better than«ok» as some may say. if i lived more than 3 miles away, i wouldn’t make it a point to come back, but i don’t live more than 3 miles away. they’re cheap and i LOVE latin american food. the people working there are really friendly, but the ONLY thing i don’t like is it being cash only. that’s my only problem. i suppose wanting to take a star away for being cash only is a bit extreme, but that’s who i am. anyway…if you live in palm/culver city, it’s not a bad place to grab some grub. it’s the«hole in the wall» vibe that a lot of people dig, and it’s cheap. check it out.

Meh! It’s ok. Their tacos could be great if they just used a little better meat. I want to love you! Beware it is cash only … But no worries, they have an ATM!

A hidden gem. Great basic fare. tacos, burritos etc. Daily specials and soups are great and varied. They make a awesome $ 5 pizza… believe it or not.

The food here is above average and quite affordable(burritos ~$ 5, tacos ~$ 1.25), but the biggest reason to stop by is the salsa. The orange(habañero?) stuff should be sold by the bottle. It’s also BYOB, and there’s a liquor store just a few doors down. It’s worth checking out the day’s specials, as they change often and are usually pretty tasty. They also have a great selection of other dishes: breakfast, fresh juices, a variety of hot dogs, hamburgers, and other stuff. Interested in trying pizza, which they recently added to the menu. Only $ 5 for a fresh-baked large. I have to agree with some other reviewers about the arepas, though — they’re too greasy for my taste. Service is casual and friendly. I always feel good about tossing my change in the tip jar.

This review for the arepas only. I was exciting to learn this place had arepas until I tried them … I am not one to comment on the authenticity of areapas from this place but I can tell you what I like and what I don’t like. What I like in an areapa is a crisp outside and a soft and chewy cornmeal middle. This place failed on its execution of the arepa cornmeal shell. The outside was crispy, but so was the inside and it was drenched in grease, too much grease for it to be tasty and too much grease for any rational person to consider eating it again. The good news is that the two areapa fillings I chose, pork carnitas and dark meat chicken, were flavorful and good, although the chicken was also a bit greasy, but it provides hope in that there may be other dishes here that may be a better choice than the arepas.

Visited twice. First time I had the empanadas. Good but not great. They were out of the ingredients for the juice drink i wanted. Second time I ordered the chili burger from the menu. They had no chili! I had the burger with the standard fixings. It was thick but dry and uninteresting. Fries were ok. Better food to be had elsewhere in the neighborhood at places that have the items they list on the menu. One star below average yields two stars.

Hells yea for Suvor’s being walking distance from work! Gotta love hole-in-the-wall close to the office. This place has become a weekly staple in our office. The food is good, fresh, and tasty. Every Friday(during Lent) I order my ceviche to go. Ohhhhhh, it is SO damn good! And only $ 3.50! They use a white fish that is nice and firm(not rubbery), and wonderfully seasoned. They are so nice too. I don’t like onions or cilantro so they custom make mine without either, adding extra lime juice — perfecto! I had 2 carne asada tacos for lunch today. My tummy is always happy here! :-) They also serve breakfast, empanadas, and fresh juices. Why not 5-stars? Cash only. There is an ATM machine. I love this place! The flat screen TV always on the Spanish channel allows me to catch up on my novelas and game shows during a quick break too. Thanks, Suvor’s!

I have no idea what it is about this place that keeps me coming back. Maybe it’s the lack of decent mexican-food joints in Culver City /Palms that don’t overcharge for mediocre food. Maybe I just have a loyalty to the space that once housed the awesomeness that was Don Jorge’s. Or maybe it’s because their red hot sauce is AMAZINGLYGOOD and SPICY! I’ll admit their food isn’t the best, but it definitely gets the job done. I’m pretty impressed with the variety of meat selections they offer, including birria on some days! I usually go with the carne asada burrito(filled with beans, rice, cilantro/onions and salsa… plus I add cheese!) and 2 tacos de carnitas. Always hits the spot and it only costs about $ 7.50. Not too shabby in my opinion.

After moving a little too far away from Orange County to make Mil Jugos my frequent go-to spot for arepas, I decided to try Savor’s. By the way, please do yourself a favor and check out Mil Jugos if you are ever near Santa Ana, as their arepas are amazing and they have the Unilocal reviews to match. Unfortunately, the arepas at Savor’s were not what I was looking for. I got the pollo arepa, and the bread was very greasy and the chicken was pink dark-meat chicken… I am not a fan of dark-meat. I tried a strawberry refresco, which was okay but not creamy enough for me since it’s juice only and not mixed with milk or yogurt. I got potato salad on the side to fill my arepa with instead of the pollo, as my fiancé promptly ate my pollo when I said I didn’t like it. The potato salad was only okay. The people working at Savor’s are nice, but I don’t think I’ll go back. My LA arepa search continues.

This place is amazing. I had my first arepas two weeks ago when out of town, and when I came back to LA I knew I’d be able to find one. Who knew it’d be so close just down on Venice Blvd near that HD buttercup place? Arepas. This is what you order here. Along with a refresco. Get a small refresco for $ 2.50 and you got your morning shot of vitamins for a week! Get a $ 4.50 arepas and you’ll be set for a week. I made the mistake or ordering two arepas for just me. oooomph. Ive got the other one in my fridge now I hope it keeps. The place is spotless. It’s open late. Fantastic menu. I think I might just eat here everyday from now on. Or every other day since the portions are so big and the prices so great!

I remember seeing something about arepa’s many many moons ago on triple D and then seeing a post on GrubStreet on this place opening up a couple of months ago. Posted on GrubStreet? Something I wanted to try from triple D? Something relatively close? Yea. It took a little while, but there’s no way I wouldn’t have stopped by. So my wife and I stop in and it’s a simply done little restaurant with a steam table up front(though curiously empty for the most part) and a GIANT menu up above it. They have everything from breakfast, to burgers, to hot dogs, to rotisserie chicken… and of course, assorted Mexican food. What I really came for were the arepas. I ordered an asada arepa and a chicken empanada and my wife had a chicken burrito. The arepa was made to order, which I loved. The masa was hand pulled, shaped and fried pretty much in front of you(should you want to stand behind the steam table and stare, but I was able to stare just fine from my table). The asada was grilled on the flat top fresh as well. About 10 minutes later, I had my little greasy pocket of meat and cheese and a side of salsa crema. Now, I’ve never had one before, but I was pretty blown away. The shell was crispy and chewy, the asada was WONDERFULLY flavorful and juicy and the cheese… melty and stringy… and delicious… y. For $ 4.50, this was more than enough food. But I still took down the chicken empanada(of the fried variety) and the chicken was also very juicy with an intensely flavorful kick. Just a little heat. My wife’s burrito? Meh. It was okay. Considering this place is open 7 days a week and open til 10p.m. or midnight, I’m coming back.

From tacos de lengua to empanadas, this new kid on the block is off to a great start. Being that they have just opened, their menu is still changing to suit the neighborhood. For instance, they have just started making Menudo on the weekends(thanks to my request). I have yet to try their roasted chicken, but will let everyone know how it is when I do. With excellent prices and great friendly service, I welcome them to the neighborhood and hope they do well! :)

was going to finally try Don Jorge’s tacos after years of meaning to, but discovered it is now Savors — I had the best torta de lengua(w/garlic & cilantro sauce), hubby had one of the Venezuelan Arepas(asada) which has a crispy wonderful cornmeal«bread» and they’ve got excellent and over the top liquados. Only open 10 days ago — didn’t have a take out menu yet, but wow –was so good and great prices!!! I’m going to check it out again(and again).

I guess I’m the first to review this place so a quick one at that: As an avid supporter of the previous Don Jorge restaurant, I was bummed to see it go. For lunch today I decided to walk over to the new Savor, or Savor’s Fast Food, that just popped up in its place. I ordered a chicken burrito and I give it a thumbs up. The lunch combo comes with two sides(the rice and beans were a good choice). They have plenty on the menu including burgers and breakfast items. I don’t have much else to say about the place except that what I had was good, the people were nice, and I’ll go back. The end.
