I used to come here back in 1996 to do ballet. Best decision my mom made. Although I no longer did ballet here, this was the stepping stone to 4 more years of ballet!

This is where I spent most of my time growing up as a young teen. Mostly in the gym playing basketball, swimming or football. The Red Shield helped a lot of teens stay away from trouble. This neighborhood was considered a danger zone for the youth back in the 70s. Recently drove by on a Sunday to show my daughter where I spent my time as a teen. Pleasantly surprised to see it remains to help the current youth. The building and field looked the same, so did the neighborhood. The Salvation Army is a blessing to the community. You’ll see and hear them ringing the hand bells soon for the Christmas holiday. Please drop what you can in the red kettle pot.

It’s has been many years, since I’ve came here, while I was in Jr. High. Although the neighborhood is ghetto as can be; I have to say, this place kept me out of trouble, while I was growing up. I’m sure it has help others the same way. I used to come here to swim at night for a couple of hours; rain or shine! And I loved every moment of it! It’s a wonder I’ve never got sick pedaling home at night with friends of mine. Thumbs up!
