It was alright. I’ve had better. This was the closest pupusa place to my work, and I had been craving some plantains. They came pretty hot, wet, and slimy(I prefer them crispier) with a not very generous portion of cream and a tiny cup of watery beans. I’m still working on my revuelta pupusa, which I’ve piled high with cabbage to make it last longer. For $ 10(cash only) my expectations were let down, and usually this wouldn’t warrant a Unilocal review, but there is a borracho in here fighting with two invisible people and he keeps stomping his feet and pointing at me, and I’m the only other person in here.

The best pupusas in town. I love the been and zuchini. For only $ 2.50 you cant go wrong. Since, it only takes one to fill you up. The chicken soup is to die for. $ 9.00 out the door.

Loved the fish taco although it was breaded and fried(2 tortillas to make 2 tacos). Super fresh and flavorful and my first PUPUSA ever. Bean & squash which was actually bean and zucchini. I think there’s a language difference. The pupusa was not very flavorful as my hopes were pretty high with other Unilocaler feedback. Ah well… the salsa and hot sauce with a squeeze of lemon did the trick. Very kind server. Cash only. No-frills. I’d come back for another fish taco, a different pupusa as well as the yuca dishes.

It’s just about the food. You don’t come for the ambiance. We had the plantains with beans and cream, the fried yucca and chicharones, and the pupusas. Delicious. As an added bonus, I told our server that I had burned my finger(I did making breakfast) and that it really hurt. I asked for ice. She recommended mustard instead. I’ve never heard of that before. It totally worked. The food is so good here and the service was sweet.

Pretty good pupusas revueltas. Platanos Fritos with beans & Salvi sour cream are good too. Ensalada… Good prices too!!!

The food is ok, but be sure not to choke on bones or gristle hiding in your enchiladas. They use the whole chicken in the food, so I wouldn’t recommend if you prefer white meat only. Not the cleanest place, but it works for a quick fix of Mexican food.

Not high dining, but very enjoyable. I’ve been going to La Cabana’s since about 2002, and once took a friend there who had been there as a child long ago. Kind of a hole-in-the-wall from the outside, but a respite for sure for decades of Salvadoran(and other) garment workers who are their mainstay customers. My favorite is pupusas with cheese and turnip, aguas frescas(diced fruit in a Sprite soda), curtido and salsa roja, warm soups all make this a nice change. Jukebox in the corner, TV’s showing telenovellas on the weekdays, futbol on the weekends. A woman-run operation for as long as I’ve been going there, where staff stand in the kitchen making the puposas when it’s slow. Nice long tables in the middle for families and group lunches.

My wife and I came here because someone recommended it. I can honestly say it will be the last. Service was ok, the pupusas were ok, nothing really stood out. I guess our quest for the greatest pupusa continues. lol

Okay… Besides the adorable«No Bicycles» — Spanish written sign on the front window, that’s just as good as its going to get. The pupusas were alright. Pretty spacious inside. Cash only. But I have to admit., I’ve had better! Rice flour Pupusas(gluten free Peepz) was okay… Too dry for my liking. Regular Pupusas that were consumed by friends and family were okay as well. Nothing special. The«Curtido»(pickled cabbage) and tomato sauce was nothing to rave about. Salvadoran breakfast combo doesn’t include Platanos!!! Why!!! And te handmade tortillas were too thick and dry. Strawberry fruit /milk shake was amazing. And so were the«sweet empanadas» for dessert. I won’t be coming back here unless I’m stumbling in sweat outside of the Mayan after a night of clubbing.

I have been to El Salvador(no big deal) and these pupusas are legit. I got the bean and«pumpkin»(actually zucchini… zucchini and pumpkin are the same in Spanish, but the English menu also said zucchini, so perhaps they outta change it). I also got a carne asada burrito because I didn’t think one pupusa would be filling. Swing and a miss. Two pupusas would have been the perfect amount for me and I eat a lot. The burrito was pretty basic, but had enough flavor to keep me satisfied. So that’s a burrito, one pupusa, and all came out to about $ 7. I go to school at the AT&T Center right down the street and this was both solid and convenient. However, I still suck when it comes to thinking about my food choices as I had a soccer game after this… winning.

Very good tasting food. Has that authentic Salvadorean food taste and not a bland taste that a lot of Salvy restaurants have here in LA. I especially love their chicken soup along with the grilles chicken and rice. Very tasty. The customer service is good and I like that they’re constantly checking up on you to see if you’re doing good. If it was closer to my house I’d come here a lot, but I suppose it’s better that way. Don’t want to gain too much weight.

The cheese in the pupusas doesn’t taste too authentic… I think they might be using store bought mozerella. The fried yucca con chicharron is pretty good though… the curtido is a little bland. I’d come here if I was REALLY craving Salvy food. The prices are decent but eh… in downtown l.a. they should be stepping it up a notch. or two… but three wouldn’t hurt.
