Great pizza, horrible service. The dude with the pony tail and mustache has a major attitude problem that takes away from the experience of eating here. If it wasn’t for the pizza, I would not come back.

Great place to have a slice. I used to go to Pizzanista on 7th but got tired of eating with filth flies. This place serves up some tasty pies in a cool environment, complete with an eclectic blend of music pump’n out of a vintage BoomBox. No flies, clean, and easy parking.

Supreme pizza was delicious lots of pepperoni, sausage and veggies and house salad was good with plenty of veggies also, plus delivery was quick about 30 minutes., Price is about average., The app for placing the Pizza order was very easy. Will recommend Purgatory Pizza to family and friends!

Ok, 3 strikes and you’re out. Just got yet another pizza that’s wrong! Called them to complain and their only response was«there’s no need to have an attitude.» This is the third time in a row that they’ve gotten our order wrong! And they don’t care. DONE. Here’s my husband’s succinct review: If you want burnt pizza delivered by a stoner, purgatory is your place.

Ordered two large pizzas for a committee meeting and the delivery was spot on and the pizzas were great. They supplied paper plates, napkins and fixins. So glad the local community center recommended them.

My new favorite is the sloppy pig. I love how the pizza crust is never too greasy. As always the employees are helpful and friendly.

Wow, before I talk about the food I will say that this was my first time going in here and the atmosphere was like no other restaurant that I’ve seen. It was something out of coloring book with a punk rock atmosphere, minor threat was playing. Pizza was great, but the garlic knots were the best I’ve ever had. Marinara was a perfect compliment. Can’t wait to go back.

Eat your heart out Pizzanista — - this is the best NY style pizza spot in LA. Their slices are always baked to a golden perfection. As far as toppings go, they are the masters of creating the perfectest balance of cheese, sauce, and veggies/meat. I highly recommend the Blizzard and the El Tropical. The price can’t be beat, and customer service is typically an A+. Love you Purgatory!

I was so happy to find this little gem in my neck of town — a hipster pizza joint in Boyle Heights? Sign me up! I promptly ordered(via phone, not eat24 as I read another Unilocaler had issues with the online service) the Thor’s Vegan Pizza and a Vegan Calzone … both were delivered to my door in about 45 minutes. Let me tell you something — they were absolutely spectacular. Definitely the perfect way to have a cheat day and carb my heart out. Plus the delivery person told me my ringtone was fucking annoying, I have mad respect for anyone in customer service with the gall to have such blunt honesty. I couldn’t stop laughing all the way back inside. Cheers, will definitely be ordering again … many times!

Our favorite pizza in our office. They carry a good selection even for our vegan boss. The pizzas we have ordered so far have all been really good. Crust is thin, the amount of tomato sauce is good and vegetables taste fresh. We usually order for delivery and it always gets here at time given. Unlike other pizza shops, they meet your needs and will not mess your order up. Store pick up is your usual 15 – 20 minutes tops. The shop itself is very interesting. The first time i visited I found myself trying to make up a poem… cheesy huh! I guess it makes sense since their pizzas are cheesy… womp womp. ha-ha!!!

This review is for Vegan options only. Don’t waste your time and money on vegan pizzas, they are inedible and overpriced, any brand of processed frozen pizza from a grocery store is preferable. Although I appreciate a restaurant that offers vegan options they really shouldn’t bother. I’m assuming that the favorable reviews here are for their meat pizzas – yet I find it impossible to believe than anything delicious could be made by the hands that made the assault to my palate and wallet, but that’s not for me to judge.

Fast, Fresh, & Fantastic Pizza! Purgatory pizza kept it real during lunch time. The one slice for $ 3 is very cool and the special for 2 pizza slices and a 50 cent drink is better for the peeps with a bigger belly. The service is friendly and it is not so busy whenever I go. You would think that at 12:30pm noon time there would be a rush from workers around the neighborhood but hey I am not complaining here, just sayin’. Delivery, I did once. It took them 1.5 hours to deliver 2 large pepperoni pizzas at my work which is literally across from them. I dont know why and what took them so long but I will stick to just my one personal slices during lunch.

My brother and I had been looking forward to Purgatory for a while. Finally stopped in to have a bite. At around 5:30, there weren’t many«by the slice» options. A couple with pineapple, one all cheese and a veggie. I grabbed a goat cheese piece. there was a deal that with two slices, you got a soda for 50cents. The pizza was thin, and tasty, but wasn’t heated all that well. maybe the fresh pizzas are better. The joint is sweltering though. Feels like no a/c. One notable element was the service. Everyone had a great disposition, and was very customer service friendly. Parking is pretty bad. There are about five spaces.

Vegan Pizza FTW! The best vegan pizza I have had. Ordered through GrubHub, medium Vegan Cheese pizza add tomatoes. $ 18. I received it an hour after placing my order. Pizza was thin crust, with a fresh tomato sauce and sprinkled with yummy Vegan cheese. Texture was great in my opinion. The delivery woman was very sweet and patient getting upstairs to my place as there are like 3 call boxes and a security guard to pass through to get upstairs. Definitely my go to pizza place!

This is the spot to go if I am feeling lazy and want to fulfill my pizza cravings since its so close by to where I live! The staff is very friendly! Being the sauce monster that I am, they also provide me with sauces that I love and dip with my pizza crust! (Ranch, Bbq, Pesto, Siracha)

No frills, it’s ALL about the PIZZA! Location: South side of First Street between Anderson St & Utah St. Next door to Self Help Graphics, across the Pico Aliso Gold Line Station, and also across from the Felicitas and Gonzalo Mendez Learning Center. Environment: Murals inside & out. Minus a star for cleanliness & covering up the original décor, when I first started coming here you could actually READ what was on the interior murals which I actually like for their whimsical quotes & bright colors. Plenty of room inside to enjoy a couple pies w a group of friends. Food: Five stars for the pizza/calzone/sandwich/spicy/vegan selections! You can order by the slice or order a pie for a reasonable price. Ready made pizzas are under heat lamps as you walk in, they pop them into the oven for a few minutes and VIOLA! Habemus Pizza! lol If you have time and a bit more cash I recommend ordering a fresh baked pie, sooo yummy! lol The thin crust pie is scrumptious & perfectly cooked, cheese & veggies always taste fresh. Plus points for the entertaining pie names like Armagarden, Fouth Horseman, Dante’s Revenge, Buffalo Soldier, etc. to spark conversations w intelligent friends. Lol Drinks: Refrigerated bottled water and canned soda. Non-refrigerated? Yes, filtered tap water. lol Dessert: Display by the cashier has scrumptious brownies or blondies(think fat soft chocolate chip cookie=heaven on earth) which are $ 3 each. Penny pincher tip: 2 slice + soda special for $ 6.50 or $ 3 a slice w tap water. Parking: Street parking(around the corner) and private lot(snug angled stalls, pull in & back out). WC: Separate stalls for ladies & gentlemen, spacious. lol
