I absolutely love Japanese curry and I am willing to try it anywhere they serve it in huge portions. This place has chicken breast curry and that’s a plus for me. But the sauce wasn’t great, but wasn’t bad. Just good enough for a quick bite. The salad it came with was a sad bed of greens and yummy dressing on the side. The chicken breast was a bit over cooked outside, but juicy on the inside. For under $ 10 for a big plate of food, it’s not bad. The worker though was clearly irritated as he kept rolling his eyes when people picked up orders and asked for something. Otherwise it’s fast service but not great food. I won’t return for their curry, but I’ll try their oyakodon, maybe.

This is the second time I have tried at this place. I’ve convinced myself to give them a second chance. The first time I discovered this place, I ordered a curry pork cutlet. The pork chop was over cooked, very thin and dry, almost like I was eating a piece of rubber. This time I ordered a sukiyaki beef bowl. It was horrible. Way way way too salty. I forced myself to take 2 bites, cause I was so hungry. But after that I felt so sick and I just dumped the whole thing in the trash. I am definitely not coming here again. It is like it was cooked by a third rated busboy. It’s a perfect food for my enemies. Don’t let their display trick you!

Cheap, good, filling eats. I always get the curry+katsu combo that comes with a side salad. Honestly, if you’re hungry and you love curry and katsu and salad, you don’t need anything else. Under $ 10. Great for groups.

I never order bento boxes at Japanese restaurants but I was craving mackerel so I ordered the mackerel/tempura bento box. SUPERIMPRESSED! Great price of $ 8.50 + tax and you get mackerel, shrimp and shredded carrot tempura, fried tofu, small scoop of potato salad, rice, miso soup and pickled daikon. I’ve ordered mackerel a la carte here as well(can you tell how much I love mackerel?!) which goes well with a side bowl of soba noodles. My only complaint is that there are too many small fish bones so it was hard to eat but nevertheless very flavorful and tender.

Located in Mitsuwa Japanese Market Place on Centinela/Venice. They specialize in authentic Japanese home made style and Teishoku-Ya dishes! I love their grilled mackerel plate and katsu curry rice! Prices are very reasonable, service is quick and food is gooood! Since I don’t like eating at the crowded food court, I usually take my food to go when it’s crowded: p

Located in the Mitsuwa food court. This Tempura and saba box is very reasonable at $ 8.50 for West LA. Delicious too. The tempura is perfectly cooked and crispy. The service is fast since this is less popular than the ramen place Santouka.

Misasa accepts credit card!(Visa, MasterCard). Their pork/chicken cutlet curry(52⁄53) is always on point. I’ve had numerous times and I always wishing for a second plate. The food comes out relatively quickly and usually there isn’t a long line.

The quality is going downhill. They increased the price twice in the last 2 years, the portion was getting smaller. Sometimes they also forgot to include the salad/miso soup in my take-out order.

Misasa is located in the Mitsuwa food court. So, if you’ve never been — know two things. You’ll be trying to figure out what to eat(several choices) and where you’re going to sit. If it’s busy, I’m sure there will be people standing the aisles, like a hawk eying its prey — ready to pounce on the first open seat or table. Anyway — I chose Misasa because I had Ramen the night before and I just didn’t find anything appealing at the other restaurants. I opted for the Pork Curry Cutlet(see pic). I’ve had better. I’ve had worse. What I did like about my dish, was the amount of gravy given with the order. As for the rest of the dish, the pork was tender and juicy inside. As you can see, the crust was a crispy and golden. And the portion sizes aren’t bad at all, considering the price. Small salad on the side. Only three stars though? Like I mentioned, I’ve had better. I’ve had worse. It was okay and I didn’t have any issues finding a table for me and my friends. No table service. Place your order. Find a seat. Get your food when they call your number.

Decent chicken katsu. Located in the busy Mitsuwa Shopping Center. After we got our food there was nowhere to sit, which was a bummer… but we used the standing table. Would go back, but wouldn’t go out of my way to.

This place is located on the right side in the middle of the food court at Mitsuwa market. It offers a wide selection of tempura rice dishes. It is cash only, but not to worry there’s an ATM inside! The best part is this place bags your food for you. None of the other places do this. I always get the pork cutlet, rice and brown curry which comes with red yummy pickled bits. It is served with salad with a yummy brown dressing. It is so good. The rice is sticky and you pour the curry over the rice and mix in the cutlet and pickled goodies. The curry is different than indian or thai curry it’s heartier, almost like a gravy and warmer and richer. I’ve been here two times already and will definitely keep going back.

Based on my order for the chicken cutlet curry, I feel like there is nothing that would make me want to come again especially with so many other options in the same food court. Located in the Mitsuwa marketplace food court, I do have to say it probably has a bigger variety of Japanese food options compared to the other restaurants and at a pretty affordable price. However, that does not necessarily translate to higher quality food. Here is what I ordered: Chicken Cutlet Curry– While the chicken cutlet was cooked well with a nice breading, the curry itself was nothing special. The curry had decent flavor but I found disappointing because it was watery and lacked vegetables to add extra texture to it. Plus, the salad on the plate had several wilting lettuce pieces and the other pieces felt like afterthoughts. In terms of the service, the cashier was okay but while waiting for my order, I did see him lose his cool with another customer who had difficulty with English. There is plenty of parking in the lot in front of Mitsuwa but it can get busy so you may have to find parking elsewhere and walk over. Overall, I would admit this place does offer a good variety of dishes at a reasonable price, but I would not say it is really worth eating any of them.

I always come here when I need to get my Japanese fiod/sushi fix and not break the bank. Rice bowls and bento boxes are less than $ 10. Decent food especially for the price. They now offer to-go. Cash only. My fave is the #42 — shrimp and sweet potato tempura w/tofu, tamago, maguro sashimi, sticky rice and miso.

I’ve ate in Misasa countless times in the past years, food is at most mediocre… When I’m not in the mood for ramen or tempura I’ll probably stop by at Misasa to pick up something quick. Ordered the Tonkatsu set to go today… They didn’t close the lid properly so my whole food bag was wet when I got home. That’s ok. Shit happens when u get take outs. After I open the box, the portion… I got like half of the pork chop compare to dine in. Ordered potato salad, and got a green salad with rotten lettuce. I understand most of the people won’t go back to complain for a take out order, but cutting order to half just becuz people can’t do anything after getting home is not how you do your business. Misasa, I’m finally breaking up with you: D

Aside from Santoka Ramen this is my go to place at the Mitsuwa food court. I always get the grilled salmon set. They only take cash. The food is pretty good and for about eight dollars I think the price is right. Nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary, just really good basic food. The grilled salmon set comes with a bowl of rice, a bowl of miso soup, a couple pieces of pickled vegetables, some bean sprouts, a small tiny scoop of potato salad, and the grilled fish.

I had the chicken cutlet with Japanese style curry for my entre’ today. Inexpensive & tasty dishes. Prices range from $ 6~$ 9. Dinner entre’s from sashimi to cutlets with side salad, tofu & miso soup! Satiates my appetite: D

$ 11.95 for a trip to Japan? SIGNMEUP! When you enter Mitsuwa market, it’s as if you teleported to Japan. You’re bombarded by Japanese videos, magazines, books and groceries. After you spend hours exploring the culture(& inexpensive fish– I’ve written a review for this grocery store before) make your way on over to the mini food court because there are some amazingly cheap yet delicious meals that are not to be missed! As weird as it may sound, I was really craving mackerel when I went to Mitsuwa so that’s what I ordered, and instead of the side of rice, I got a side salad and tuna sashimi! My meal was quite the Japanese experience and very filling! I truly felt like I was sitting in Japan, enjoying my grilled, salted Mackerel and fresh tuna sashimi. Domo Misasa! Domo! You know what was the absolute best part though? NOJETLAG! As for why I gave Misasa the minus one star was because I didn’t get to watch any inflight movies, ha ha!

Cheap for lunch, maybe not really. $ 7 – 8 for a bowl of rice with meat or tofu.(The don) Really has not much flavor and it doesn’t look like the picture at all. So get a ramen in the market place, or buy some prepared food from the grocery inside.
