Best place for nachos and tacos!!! Friendly and great service. The meat and drinks have excellent taste. Go try it!

AWFULCUSTOMERSERVICE! UNHAPPYEMPLOYEES who have NO ability to demonstrate COMMONCOURTESY to their NEW customers. First impressions = everything. Bitter staff = negative experience. And, their food… also sucks ass.

So good. Really cheap too. Breakfast burritos are only like $ 4.50. They’re known for their pastor. I don’t eat pork but it looked amazing. I got chicken in my breakfast burrito. The tortilla is so good. Might be the best breakfast burrito in LA. The hashbrowns are crispy, so the texture of the burrito insides is just insane.

We love Maya’s, it’s our go-to taco place. The people are friendly, the food is good, there are always seats. What more can you ask for?

The nachos cost cheaper than«Carnitas» but it also has beans, too. Alotta beans. More beans than meat probably. I’ve been coming here more recently to avoid the lines at «Carnitas» but I’m done supporting this place. They’re skimpy with the meat most of the time and their tacos are only decent.

Firstly, i want to start off by saying that I am giving this place the highest stars. Secondly, I have to admit that I ate here last night and have been sick all day… Lastly, I have to explain why!!! I want to be open and honest to my fellow Unilocalers and mention that the asada tacos with the grilled onion and chile is so amazingly fantastically bomb that you will make yourself sick from over eating because the meat has so much flavor and looks like it’s been marinated for EVER meaning it’s hard to stop. I hardly ever go to Lincoln heights… but when I do, I stop here for tacos. Stay hungry my friends If you love Leo’s tacos on La Brea, this place here is their closest competition.

Decided to try tacos from somewhere else other than my usual go-to spots. Worst. Decision. Ever. Amongst pulling into the parking lot, we were greeted by the disgusting smell from the dumpsters. Very appetizing. My bf and I both opt’d for the tripa tacos along with some grilled onions. These tacos were so bland and lacked a lot in flavor. I added some green avocado sauce to it but the sauce also lacked in flavor. The only thing that helped me eat these tacos were the limes and washing it down with their bomb ass horchata. Probably the best tasting horchata I’ve had so far, major props for that. $ 8 for 5 tacos and a horchata. I’d rather take spend that money elsewhere.

$ 1.25 p/taco… a few years back they used to be $ 1 :’(It’s all good though. Still my favorite taco stand in all of Lincoln Heights! I usually switch back and forths from Maya’s and Ave 26. Eat it with the onion bulbs! Soooo BOMB. :)

Translation: These tacos are stingy. They have re-heated meat, old chopped onion and a hint of cilantro. The tortas are ok, but if you need jalapeño you need to ask for like 3 bags because they are mostly carrot-filled. I gave it 2 instead of 1 star because parking was easy and their Jamaica drink was good. You’re better off asking your Hispanic buddies to take you when they visit their grandma. I have to keep coming because my boss, a German, likes this place. Pray for me.

Great place for tacos in Lincoln Heights. Typically, I ask for mine with grilled onions. Have gotten the asada, carnitas, chorizo, al pastor and the buche. There is something a little off about the pastor, so I don’t recommend it currently. All others I would. I would also recommend eating on site, instead of taking them to go and eating at home. Just my preference, but tacos are never better after sitting in an aluminum foil container for travel. There are 2 restaurants at this corner. Carnitas Michoacan is across the street. If you are heading to there, I would suggest that you just cross the street for some better food and less wait. I’ve tried a bunch of dive restaurants in this area and Maya’s Restaurant has proven to be the best of the lot.

The asada tacos were good but didn’t compete well with the competition across the street.

I finally got to try this place and all I can say is ew. I had tacos for $ 1 that are better then this place. The pastor had a weird texture and the taste was horrible. The hot sauce was extremely salty and wasn’t hot at all. I could only eat 1 taco and threw my other taco away. I’m not sure why this place is hype up but I can sure tell you that they are not the best tacos in los angeles

Maya’s restaurant, in my book, is 2 stars. I can’t say that I had a pleasant or even an «A-OK experience for that matter. I was actual excited to try Maya’s for the first time…(I usually go to another place close by.) Anyway, the service was super unfriendly, unwelcoming… in other words: someone had an attitude problem. I ordered chicken taquitos and an al pastor taco.(The man who was making the tacos was very nice!) I can’t say I was a fan of the taquitos… they were just hard and dry. The taco was pretty good. There was plenty of flavor. I chose salsa verde to be on top which was nice and not very spicy to me. There was an area of self serve salsas and I tried one that was green and seemed to be a sort of an avocado salsa… the flavor was very lacking and felt way too watered down. Overall, I’m not impressed with their service or food. My boyfriend really likes this place though so I might be back to try more food and see if I find anything I like.

I can’t understand how this place has such high ratings? maybe I’m ordering the wrong thing? Mole plate– bland, no real mole flavor. more like a brown sauce Fish taco– bland, fish tasted funny Chicken Enchiladas– dry overcooked chicken that had the texture of bacon crumbles Overall, this place is a total bummer.

This place is OK, I ordered one taco of each meat(except lengua) Asada: 3⁄5 Chorizo: 3⁄5 Caveza: 3⁄5 Tripa: 2.5÷5 Overall all the meats tasted a bit bland, the salsas were ok not bad. This place was a simple ok, if I’m by the area I might stop by for a quick bite but not a spot to rave about. Good service with the taco man by the way.

It’s tough because one of my favorites is right across the street(I won’t mention any names), but Maya’s holds its own with good tacos and burritos. The carne asada comes a bit dry and crumbly instead of tender and chunky. The service is always great though and sometimes I’m in the mood for something different.

Eat here all the time it’s practically a second home. Owner is very friendly and I like to watch boxing on the tv with the cook who manages the taco grill by the order window. Great lunchtime spot as well as late night before they close at midnight. Good neighborhood vibe lots of regulars. Al Pastor is on point! Can’t get enough. Breakfast Burritos are A+ Carnitas are nothing to write home about but good quality pork and still worth ordering once and while. Hard to go wrong at Maya’s they really make they’re food with love. I think part of the secret is they always have really fresh vibrant produce I’ve never seen brown lettuce or a mealy, sad tomato within 100ft of this place. Salsa bar with tomatillo, radish, various homemade salsas, jalapeño & carrot escebeche. No debit/credit card minimum.

Maya’s is excellent for what it is, fast, cheap and good Mexican and Salvadoran cuisine. There’s an indoor kitchen, and at night they wheel out an outdoor taco only stainless steel kitchen cart that makes little soft tacos with your choice of meat: beef, pork, tongue… The kitchen inside makes more complicated dishes, such as tortas, burritos, steak picado, pupusas, and much more. I like the steak picado in particular. The service is always fast and pleasant, the major downside is that there is only outside seating so it is almost impossible to enjoy your meal if its a particularly cold night. There is an indoor dining room, but it hasn’t been opened in years. I’ve been going there about twenty years, the previous owners used the indoor space, but apparently the new owners do not for unknown reasons. There’s plenty of free off street parking. The only restroom is inside the kitchen, you have to ask to use it and walk past stacked cartons of vegetables, and other supplies. Maya’s is open when most of the competition is closed, including holidays. Despite the name the cuisine is not Mayan.

I have been coming here for years, but only late at night. The food is best when the dude sets up shop outside with the cart. Lets get the normal asada and lengua out of the way, both are respectable. What really shines here is the chorizo, pastor and the tripas. Oh my god. I cannot put into words how good they are! Protip: ask for a side of the onions in the oil, he knows what it is. Thank me later!

Maya’s is quickly becoming a work-spot. Whether we are just starting the shift(and the first stop is TACOS!), or it’s 2am and we need a quick lunch-break bite, Maya’s is our stop in Downtown LA!(Even opposed to the taco place across the street, which I tried, but did not prefer). Normally I always get the same thing: chicken or carne tacos and sometimes an order of fries to boot. Once and a while I throw in a cold bottle of Mexican coke to boot. Service is always friendly, the food is always great!

Their carne asada tacos are very tasty, and affordably priced at $ 1.25/each. They’re a bit on the small side, but they’re not expensive either. Their horchata seems to be pretty decent as well. Make sure you spend the extra $ 1.50 and get a side of their guacamole — your tacos will not be the same without it. Additionally, make sure you ask the gentleman on the grill to furnish you with a handful of grilled onion bulbs(you may have to settle for the bulb-less variety of onions if they are out). The self-serve condiment bar contains radishes, limes, salsa verde, and peppers. The asada burrito is not too bad, and is worth considering if you want a more«on-the-go”-friendly dining option than tacos. The fish tacos leaves much to be desired … they are simply lacking in tastiness(and also cost more than the Asada tacos). If you want decent fish tacos, go to Las Brisas instead, not here. Las brisas doesn’t skimp on sauce/flavor, and they use cabbage instead of lettuce. The staff here is friendly enough to deal with. 4 of their tacos seem to be sufficient if you are not *too* hungry. If you are *really* hungry, I would order at least 5 – 6 of them.
