This was my first visit to LaLa’s and probably my last. I went with a group for a friends birthday and the distance was a bit far to make it a regular destination. That is a little unfortunate since the food was very delicious. Upon being seated the serve soft bread with Chimichurrie sauce. This dipping sauce is so addicting I’m sure they make it with an illegal substance. You won’t be able to resist. I had the skirt steak(med) with garlic and onions and a side of fries. The steak was done to perfection and the flavor was a mouth-gasm. Not sure what everyone else in my party ordered but I was quite happy with the steak and recommend it. Service is another story. I’m not sure if it’s the crowdedness or personality but our waitress was as dull as wallpaper glue. I had read other reviews about the service and they, unfortunately, were accurate. Yes the restaurant was full and she never smiled once. When interacting with her she was short and abrupt. I’m sure she’s a nice person but you wouldn’t be able to tell while she works. Parking: Upon arrival I used the valet service around back. Not the sharpest folks back there so just understand what you get. Don’t bother with street parking. This is LA and it’s not worth driving in circles. In closing, if you’re near LaLa’s give it a shot. If you’re not, you can find something nice around your house that will keep you out of LA traffic.

Perfect place to go on a Saturday to start your night with a group of friends. They have a very large outdoor eating area that is super packed, loud and vibrant. The waiters do their best to give you the attention you need although there are so many people they need to attend to. When you sit the chimichurri and the white bread hit the table. Everyone goes to war when this happens, but don’t worry, the waiters are happy to bring you more. They have sangria which is perfect when you just want to drink easy but keep drinking! The fair is typical Argentinian fair. The skirt steak with garlic on top and side of fries is done right and the perfect amount of food. You can get salad or rice as a side. When I want to stay healthy I get the pollo a la brasa with a side salad. This is a half chicken which is truly the most flavorless chicken, which I don’t really understand why they don’t fix it but the value is great and it allows me to keep my diet and eat well at the same time. They have a banana crêpe dessert which is recommended by everyone there and it is pretty good. After this meal you really do need something sweet to top it off. Parking is very difficult in this area, but they have valet. Be prepared to wait as they do not take reservations.

I’ve been to LaLa’s many times. It’s always good. The menu is diverse enough for everyone but tough if you are vegan. Some of my family is. Never had a bad experience. Mashed potatoes are bomb here.

Husband and I came here after going to a taping of @midnight while we were on a ketogenic diet. We got the assorted steaks with grilled veggies and chimichurri sauce. The steaks and sauce were pretty good but the veggies were not great. The service was only ok and the ambience was gloomy and empty as it was a weeknight. It did the job but it wasn’t a pleasant experience I would care to repeat.

We drive all the way from Orange County to eat here, it’s so good every time we come. They have the best chimichurri, we always buy some to take with us, this last time we bought 5. The service was really good, it was pretty busy, but we were seated really quickly and the food came out not too long after we ordered.

My Co worker and I were tired of the food nearby, so we decided to Unilocal places around us. We found this place and read the reviews. Based on the reviews and pictures we decided to order for delivery. Ordered for 3 people, the total came up to around $ 45 with delivery charge. The sandwiches were not good, the fries were undercooked and we were missing a side order of smashed potatoes. The only good thing was the chicken meal with the side of chimichurri. Beside the food not being good, the delivery guys was rude. We ordered through Unilocal,so I don’t know if that was their own delivery guy.

I’ve had argentinian food maybe once in my life, so there’s not much to compare Lala’s to. However, my first time going there won’t be my last, as this is simply the best I’ve ever had. We went on a Tuesday night at 9pm, and were seated right away outside(with plenty of heat lamps). We ordered the 4 empanada combo, sweetbreads, and both got the skirt steak w/parsley & garlic. I can say with confidence that every dish we had was perfect. The highlight of the night: their chimichurri sauce. BESTEVER. We started with the bread and immediately killed one helping of chimichurri, and asked the server for a LOT more, which they obliged. You can literally do no wrong by putting it on everything. The sweetbreads were perfectly tender, flavored, and roasted. First time I’ve ever had sweetbreads, and it was just like eating chicken. The texture of their empanadas was perfectly crisp and soft. They were a bit small, but still delectable. On to the main course. The skirt steak(cooked medium) had a huge helping of parsley and garlic. For a garlic crazed zombie like me, it was the perfect amount of garlic, so be wary of the large amount if you’re not super into garlic. But this steak was perfect. The char flavor is just godly. The perfect amount of char and natural flavor. You don’t even need chimichurri on this bad boy, but if you do, it gets even better! The mashed potatoes and salad were also on point. The potatoes were so soft and creamy; the salad was packed with flavor and ingredients. I bet their other sides are just as good. Overall, the food, service, price, and ambience really make this a new go-to spot for me. Great for dates! And just in case you were curious: this place is way better than Bossa Nova on Sunset.

Chimichurri Sauce. Enough said. This stuff is sooooo good and sooo addicting. Dip it with bread? DELICIOUS. Slather it on your meats? EVENMOREDELICIOUS. This sauce is clutch! When we approached the restaurant, I was bewildered how 6 adults and 6 kids would fit as the interior of the restaurant was tiny, until they took us to the back, which is basically outdoors but with covered over. This space is HUGE! On New Year’s Day in the early evening, patrons continued to flow through. Our waitress was friendly, although she took her time to take our orders. Their wine is incredibly reasonably priced, less than $ 7 a glass. For our table of 6, we ordered the empanadas combo(4), 2 salads, provoleta(melted cheese with tomato salsa), and sarten de champignons(sauteed mushrooms). While we waited, we killed a couple bread baskets due to the chimichurri sauce. The empanadas, cocktail size, were a joke. You could easily pop one in your mouth, bite 3 times, and be done. This was not worth the $ 8 price tag, although the dough was fried perfectly. The melted cheese, was, melted cheese. It was good, but nothing out of the world. The mushrooms were nicely cooked and perfectly seasoned. We also ordered 2 orders of tabla de carnes, which included skirt steak, 3 pieces of filet mignon, and new york steak, which feeds 2 – 3 people. It also includes 2 sides, so we went with fries, rice, and 2 orders of Lala’s mashed potatoes which is mashed with carrots. The meat was perfectly cooked, the skirt steak was suprisingly my favorite. Again, slathered that chimichurri sauce all over, which could make a piece of yucky steak taste good. The sides were just okay. Although the mashed potatoes were interesting, it was a bit too smooth and purée like for my taste. Overall, really loved dining at this restaurant and would be back in a heartbeat. And take that chimichurri sauce home!

Without the pantalones –thank god– Lala’s delivers a skullful of Argentenian indulgences. The chimichuri alone is a colorful and bursting with a vibrant, tangible scent, the same punch as a 2-liter bottle of diesel. When I say the service is like being pampered by a community of Oompa Loomaps, I mean that with all deliberate respect to the choreography and omniscience of their entire waitron and bussing staff. Just like Willy Wonka’s Factory, if any employee perceived I needed a refill, or more chimichuri, it was replenished. Without the feeling of intrusion or violation of my personal space, the subtle beauty of the comforting efficiency immediately grabbed my respect and appreciation. The waitresses are attentive and mercilessly attractive. The first bite IS with the eye, and to say any more would drag this review into a demeaning and objectifying direction. Our waitress, let’s call her Eva, was bubbly and engaging, earnest and informative. Particularly when she delivered an enthusiastic description when I asked –not snidely, but glowingly jovial–«Do you have empanadas?» Of course they do! It’s their Blooming Onion. And I freaking love Bloomin Onion. Not content with serving a meat filled envelope of dough with no surface appeal, and the lingering density of a Hot Pocket, theirs were the size of a computer mouse. The shell of the empanadas were crackly, Coppertone and playful. Respectively, they were cheese and onion, ground beef, and ham and cheese. I recommend the beef, but all not only could have been, but actually were contenders. But never mind that. The Chicken Picante is dense and wisps of chile and smoke wend their way through the thickness of the sauce moderately covering the breast. The flavor jabs its trident on the echoing marble and bellows«None shall be absent of giddy astonishment when the picante boldly claims your tongue and proclaims it a sovereign Kingdom for its own.» And it is true. I don’t toss around the word marvelous too often, mostly because I’m into chicks, but the Chicken Picante is one marvelous spectacle, with no equal. The mashed potatoes, as long as we’re on the subject of sides, is unapologetic about its vulgar content of butter and salt. It proudly gives the middle finger to every Federal Nutritionist who contributed to the Pyramid. If it were solely about the chicken picante, I would still have written this thoughtful and, frankly, clever review. But Argentina is about beef. Beef is Argentina’s absolute hallmark. Were it not for beef, Argentina would suffer the shameful blotch of hosting the largest Nazi vacation communities, and that some woman Eva shouldn’t cry about it. BEEF NOBODYRULESTHESESTREETSATNIGHTBUTME. While nearly every other retailer has dumped quality to maintain profit during Our Second Great Depression, Lala’s blew me away with the 1) perfectly cooked steak according to my unwavering and byzantine specifications 2) a high quality, respectably sized steak and 3) a mushroom cream sauce that escorted the meat. This arrangement was a forceful presence. Steak, crowned with mushrooms, lathered in cream. Flanked on either side, loyal fellowship of the Mashed Potatoes and a stern forest of mixed greens. The architecture was an assertive invitation to what should have been a dignified payload, were it not that every forkful was a crude display of consumption gone berserk, by a glutton, behaving like an animal redacted of all intelligence, committing a graceless assault on a delicious piece of art. I shouldn’t even admit to eating the flan after that embarrassing confession, but I was determined to have a final course, driven by the euphoria and Hungerlust cultivated by each dish.

Was very pleased with this place! The outdoor seating at night is really pretty– a great date spot for sure. I loved the complimentary chimmichurri that comes with the bread for starters. The prices are very fair and the food is absolutely delicious. Most definitely coming back! Note that valet is $ 6– try finding street parking and walking over if you can help it

One of my favorite dining spots in LA. Seating for two at the Melrose location is never really an issue. We strolled in at 9pm on a Friday night and were seated immediately. The table itself was rather small and near a lot of traffic(bus carts constantly flying by) so I’d wished I had elected for outdoor seating. Service was spot on as our friendly server, Dan, gave us the perfect amount of time to get situated and order. The timing between appetizers and entrees was also well calculated. There’s nothing worse than watching your steak cool off as you rush through your first course. Tragedy avoided. They dropped off bread and chimichurri which is always absolutely amazing. Well done. We ordered the chorizo and beef empanadas to start. Although empanadas is plural on the menu, it’s actually just one and it was a little on the dry side. The chorizo comes plated with chopped tomato and onion which helps balance the salty and fatty notes and was very good. I ordered the entrana al ajo(about $ 25) medium rare with mash potatoes. The steak itself is juicy and glorious and if you asked for it al ajo, they do not hold back on the garlic. Try spreading some chimichurri over the steak for an added twist. The mash potatoes were OK but nothing special. Just kind of a watery side dish to compliment the steak which is the MVP anyway. We finished off with the panqueque with dulce de leche($ 5) which resembles a crêpe with warm caramel. I highly recommend this dessert. If you’re aiming to resolve your sweet tooth, look no further. The stars of this place include the entrana and the chimichurri. Get those and you’re in good hands. Parking can be tricky but doable around the neighborhood. Just be mindful to read the signs because parking enforcement will get you here. There’s also $ 6 validated parking behind the restaurant. Will be back again and again.

We came here to celebrate one of our best friends’s birthday and homecoming. The atmosphere was very welcoming and perfect for a night of girl gossip. We started off with some bread and their famous chimichurri sauce which was mouth watering delicious. I ended up asking for more when our main dish came out! As an appetizer, we went with the combo appetizer so we could try a little bit of everything. It came with a choice of three empanadas(we went with beef, chicken, and caprese. I loved the beef and chicken but wasn’t a big fan of the caprese. It was good but it didn’t stand out to me), tortilla de papa and one chorizo. We split everything evenly amongst the three of us. For the main entrée, my two friends ordered the entrant el ajo(angus beef skirt steak topped with sautéed garlic and parsley) and I ordered the entrants a champignon(angus beef skirt steak topped with sautéed mushrooms in a light red wine cream sauce). As for sides, we all had the mashed potatoes and salad. You can’t have a girls night without a bottle of wine. We had Pinot Noir to go with our meal. Everything was delicious. The wait staff was pretty patient was us as we slowly ate our food and talked. They came back often to make sure we were okay and topped off our waters as well. We finished the bottle of Pinot, chosen by the waitress. I would definitely come back again. There was so much on the menu I wanted to try. And I’m still thinking about that delicious chimichurri sauce that went on everything I ate!

Three stars for food because this place provides delicious food at a very reasonable price, but I can’t say that it’s a place that I’m ever craving. We’ve ordered a number of items from here: steak, lobster ravioli, empenadas, and milanesa. All were delicious. I highly recommend the milanesa napolitana. It’s almost like a country fried steak with sauce, but even better. The lobster ravioli is good too, and my boyfriend has always liked the steak here. Their portions are really huge, and we often have leftovers for the next day. The dip that comes with the complimentary bread is really good too. An extra star because this place is extremely dog friendly. They have a covered patio area, and they have always been very welcoming to us and our little pup. 2 paws up! Parking: there is free and metered street parking available(but be careful at night if you park in the neighborhood – make sure to read signs clearly b/c after a certain time it’s permit only) and valet

I came here with a party of 8. Luckily they take reservations only if you have a party of 8 or more. We arrive to a PACKED valet. They were so swamped they seemed flustered. After 10 minutes we finally drop off our car and get inside the restaurant. They seat us right away and it is DARk inside. I can barely see my menu. We all order something different and eagerly wait. All the while consuming our body weight in free bread and chimicurri. We ordered the empanadas combo — four cocktail size assorted empanadas7.95 sarten de champignons — skillet of sautéed mushrooms in white wine, parsley & garlic6.95 picante — chicken breast brushed with homemade picante sauce10.95 entraña al ajo — Certified Angus Beef skirt steak topped with sautéed garlic & parsley23.95 lomo — Choice center cut filet mignon26.95 entraña al champignon — grilled Certified Angus Beef skirt steak topped with sautéed mushrooms in a light red wine cream sauce, served with mashed potatoes24.95 lomo Lala’s — grilled Choice center cut filet mignon topped with sautéed mushrooms in a light red wine cream sauce, served with mashed potatoes28.95 Now out of all of these the only two I actually liked was the entraña al ajo & sarten de champignons. Just stick to this. Everything else was bland and disappointing. Do Not Get The Chicken. It was really not good.

Alright, lets see it was(what) June 9, 2015 around 7:45pm. That is correct my birthday. So, my buddy took me out to dinner and this spot was an excellent choice. Décor, ambience, friendly of the staff and quality of the food, I mean my friend picked a good spot. This place sits on the corner of Melrose ave and N alta vista blvd in Los Angeles, Ca. This place has an outdoor area and indoor, with the décor that looks a bit rustic, which is eye appealing,(My new spot, hmmm possibly). We arrived at a perfect time, because literall 20 minutes later, the restaurant started to overload. We had an excellent server, she was friendly, nice and suggestive with the menu and wine.(I wish I would have got her name, dang). But, we went ahead and ordered dinner: 1.Arroz del Campo– sautéed green & red bell peppers, garlic, onions & mushrooms tossed with yellow rice in a creamy tomato sauce, topped with feta cheese This dish, was pretty good I must say, with the feta cheese intermixing with the yellow rice and other ingredients, I mean pure delicious, moist and flavorful from the garlic and onions(mmmm). 2.sopa de vegetales pureed carrot & potato soup I mean pureed so well, and just the taste left me wanting more, I mean check the pictures out, I would get this again. Overall, I had a great night, excellent to spend my birthday dinner. Thanks so much Lala’s. I will definitely return.
