The food is good. Give the waitress a hi Five she’s. Ohhh and make sure you leave her a good tip. Her name is alma.

This place has the best vegetarian breakfast burrito in Los Angeles. Hands Down It’s not even on the menu, we found it by accident. It has zucchini, squash, peas and queso and the rice and beans are so rich that they stand alone as a delicious side. I challenge any of you foodies to find me a better one in this city. I haven’t yet. Everything else I have tried is excellent. It’s traditional oaxacan food with delicious molès and their on house red salsa is amazing. The staff is awesome and the décor is like being in Oaxacan dreamscape. I eat here once a week at minimum.

This review goes to the amazing menudo served on the weekends for a total prize of $ 8.13(includes tax). it is served with hominy, onion, oregano red chili powder and 3 tortillas. I always take it to go. Don’t forget if you decide to order something less than $ 10&& you need to pay with card they will charge $ 1.00 extra. ENJOY

This place is a «hole in the wall», no frills restaurant staffed by two hard working cooks and one equally hard working waitress. There are only eight tables(which seat 3 – 4 each) so you’d better come before the lunch rush of regulars get in before lunch time! I had the two enchilada plate(one cheese, one chicken) with carne asada. The carne asada was just«OK». It didn’t have any seasoning and wasn’t marinated at all; it was merely a slab of meat thrown on the grill and cooked. Now, don’t get me wrong, it was fully cooked, slightly tender and not too chewy, so it was good, but there was no flavor other than«meat». I opted for the red sauce on my chicken and my cheese enchilada(they offer a green sauce) and I wasn’t disappointed. The sauce was slightly spicy and had that wonderful clove taste to it(just like grandmas sauce)! The sauce isn’t soupy at all and really sticks to the enchiladas. The cheese enchilada is the way to go here as it is PACKED with Monterrey jack cheese which goes well with that sauce. The chicken enchilada was filled with chicken that had been shredded and slightly fried(as in, cooked in a little bit of oil), making it slightly crispy(and very dry). I know the kitchen is really small, so it’s hard for this place to keep a lot of things slowly cooking or marinating, but the chicken would taste way better if it was slowly cooked in a sauce. The beans and rice here… OH…MAN! The beans taste exactly how my grandmother’s beans tasted: fresh from the pot, smashed slightly, refried in lard, and tasty as tasty can be. The rice is true to Mexican style«restaurant rice»(typically, slightly orange due to the tomato sauce with some veggies thrown in); very good as well. They give you homemade chips and salsa with every order, of which I’m always a fan. the salsa here is very soupy and slightly spicy. I prefer slightly chunky salsa, instead of salsa that just bleeds off the chip. This place is super friendly and fast. I really don’t know how the cooks and waitress pump out so much food and service in such a small amount of time. I feel like if this same crew had a bigger restaurant space where they could store sauces, marinate meat, etc., they could be one of the best restaurant’s in the area. Hopefully, I can come back and sample something else and rate them higher. Based on the food I had on this visit, I just can’t right now.

Really delightful. Parrillada was great: fish was a tiny bit salty, but the shrimp and meat were particularly delightful, as were the onions. Homemade salsa and chips were superb, the cactus was okay, but the real standout was the refried beans, with so much lard… and the coffee with sugarcane and cinnamon was splendid. Cash-only; sweet servers; unlimited refills on coffee.

Went there once with a best friend to catch up and talk. This restaurant feels very ‘home-like’ & neighborhood oriented. Cash only! .so when I found out this was the case my friend and I had to walk to the nearest c.v.s to grab some cash. The food is delicious and the service is great! I will most definitely go back and eat there. The place may be on small side though. Their amazing mexican food is very authentic I would say.

I absolutely love this place. I have been here many times and have not been disappointed. It gets a lot of business on Sundays. There is a parking lot in the back and also has a back door you can also come in through. The special of the day is usually written on the chalkboard on the wall. Unfortunately, I am not able to come here as much as I would like, but, while I lived in the area, I would come here every Sunday, after church. The food here is great and there is a big variety of options to choose from. They give you chips and salsa-red and green– before you order your meal. I have like their flautas, chiles rellenos, enchiladas, enfrijoladas, eggs, menudo, nachos, tacos, fish, and even their burgers. Not a big fan of their horchata, but then again, I am not a big fan of horchata, in general. It is also pretty cheap. The total price of my family of five would end up being under $ 30. The staff is really friendly. They always make the customers feel welcomed. The staff also regularly checks up on the customers by asking if there is anything else they can get them. They are also very patient when you can not decide what to get. I honestly can not get enough of this place. I would always look forward to come to this restaurant. La Morenita Restaurant has and will always have a small place in my heart. I would definitely recommend anyone to come to this restaurant.

I arrived on a rainy day. It’ easy to miss this place – a hole in the wall – as you drive by. There is metered parking fronting the restaurant. I was a little apprehensive about getting a parking ticket. The meter kept flashing red even after I had dropped a few quarters into it. Typical LA parking meter. However, during my meal, I noticed that most people were coming in through the back door. There may be parking at a lot behind the restaurant. I then enter the restaurant through a narrow hallway. You will immediately notice that the kitchen is right up front, to your left, as you walk by. After as I took a seat, I noticed a Christmas stocking, with several names inscribed, hanging from the wall(see picture). I was immediately attended by the waitress. I order a cup of coffee and asked her if her name was Sofia or Alma. Being that it was my first visit here, she responded, «Alma. The owner’s name is Sofia. How did you know our names?» I then pointed to the Christmas stocking and she laughed. Alma had asked what I wanted to drink and offered coffee, champurrado, and hot chocolate, among the usual, The cup of coffee was very good. I drank it without adding anything. The tortilla chips were OK and came with red salsa(see picture). I later ordered the day’s special: Enchiladas con Carne Asada, which came with rice and beans(see picture). The highlight of the plate were the chicken enchiladas. The enchiladas were just right and flavorful. The carne aside side was very tasty, but some portions of it were not as tender. The fried beans were good, but portions of the rice were undercooked. The guacamole was below par. Overall, I would consider coming back to try their recommended chicken mole, with it’s spicy adobo chocolate sauce.

My father loves this place. He comes here so often that the wait staff know him by name. The owner often joins him for breakfast. The place is small. You walk past the register and kitchen to get to the small dining area with bench styled tables. I’ve been here several times. This is a «hole in the wall.» It is a community restaurant. It is filled with Mexican-Americans, who are more Mexican than Americans. There were no white people in the place. The weather was drizzly when we entered. I notice a coffee can hanging from underneath a roof vent that is collecting drips of water. After being seated, we were presented with fresh corn chips and a spicy green salsa. Our elegantly sexy waitress was pleasant. The older men in the place gently flirt with her. The menudo is supposedly very authentic, but, I can’t stomach eating tripe. I had the huevos rancheros, and was pleasantly suprised by the subtleness of the presentation.
