Only eaten at the actual location once. The service was ok. I usually order from here via Eat24. They’re food is pretty good. The Shrimp Ceviche has a little too much onion, but other than that it’s tasty. The Horchata is a must!

To be perfectly honest, La Choza had fallen out of our favor after a few bum orders marked by dry chicken and the substitution of some mutant, milky-green mystery mole for their usually delicious sauce. Craving tacos the other night, we decided to give it another go. Good news! It looks like this once reliable delivery place has returned to form. Soft Tacos(3⁄5): For less than $ 2 a piece, you can enjoy slightly larger than palm-sized, double-wrapped soft tacos with shredded carnitas, carne asada, or al pastor. Cheap and filling, with just the right amount of salty, each taco comes complete with cilantro and white onion, and you get a better deal if you order four at a time. Steak and Shrimp Fajitas(3.5÷5): Three hand-sized soft taco wraps. Six large shrimp. Long cuts of onions, red and green bell pepper, and well-cooked carne asada steak. I’ve made similar recipes at home and couldn’t do much better myself. Just one thing: give us more wraps next time! Guacamole and Chips(3⁄5): One bag of chips usually comes free with an order, but this dish gets you an extra bag to enjoy about a ¾ cup of guacamole. If you prefer non-spicy guacamole, the tasty chopped tomato mixed in will do you just fine. Extras(Depends): Red sauce, green sauce, the salsa seems to have greatly improved since our last order. We’re also glad they’ve brought back their pico de gallo for patrons to enjoy with the chips. We only received one micro-container, but we appreciated the refreshing taste of the tomatoes, onions and cilantro, and the instant fire from tiny chile squares. For simple, standard taco fare, La Choza is a decent Westwood option for takeout, and one of the few Mexican-American restaurants that offers easy online ordering in the area. They can take a while to deliver at peak dinner times, but you can count on these guys to come right to your door with food that is a good value, fast, with real ingredients.

Honestly it was disappointing. I got the super burrito it came out to $ 9.60 I think a bit much for an ok burrito. Burrito was a bit dry.

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon — empty, but the burritos were good and presented well. The free chips were a bit stale, but they gave us seconds :)

How is La Choza? Uh… I don’t actually know. I ordered it, and an hr and a half later… it still wasn’t here. When called, they replied that they had«been really busy with a big catering order.» Well that’s neat… because you told me it would arrive in less than an hr. I was then asked if I «still wanted my food» which led to my discovery that my order hadn’t yet been made nor left the restaurant. I ended up eating a can of soup… which had been in my apartment the entire time.

This place used to be a lot better and more authentic. Hit or miss with the food, their carnitas are dried shrivels but breakfast is bomb so are the burgers but they are good in the generic way. My biggest complaint is the attitudes of the driver today who chain smoked on his way to my house because as soon as the food bag was in my house it smelled like an ashtray. I called to complain and was told to calm down, and that she would talk to him. What a bunch of bs, you need to offer something to someone when you ruin their lunch.

UGH. First of all, I’ve only ordered food from this restaurant via Seamless… and for some reason, it’s called«Cilantro Fusion Grill» there… but La Choza, apparently? IDK. I’ve had the fajitas a couple times(steak, chicken) and it was good… and I’ve had quesadillas more than a couple times, with hit or miss. Honestly, it’s not that good. They’re okay generous on quantity, but on taste? Bleh. The meals are packed with chips(often stale), salsas(like the pico de gallo, whatever on the green/red salsas), and I’ve ordered rice(pretty bland) and guacamole(equally lackluster). Disappointing. Really wish there were more better options on Seamless!

Blerg. A recent back injury had me unable to cook and I was craving Mexican food. Nothing says comfort like nachos, right? Sadly, it was more like steak tortilla soup with a terrible side of guacamole. It made me more than a little nauseous and I ended up chucking the whole thing in the trash. It was delivered, though, so I’m giving them that second star to account for wilting during travel time. I have had great delivered nachos before, though. Also disappointing — I ordered two lime Mexican sodas, the only variety I dig, and was delivered two orange ones. Luckily, my husband has an affinity for electric orange soda pop. I don’t think I’ll be giving La Choza a second try.

Not a fan. Had a craving for nachos last night and thought I’d try someplace new. After reading other reviews and looking over their website I figured to chance it but never again. Right on the front page of their site is a picture of an amazing plate of nachos. I thought $ 7.50 seemed a bit steep but if it was anything like the photo why not. NOTEVENCLOSE. I got a box of chips, beans, and cheese, a teaspoon of sour cream and some guacamole. They gave me extra guacamole for free since I wasn’t getting any meat, the only nice thing I can say. I never complain about the price of food but this is one time I feel completely cheated. I paid $ 7.50 for a $ 4 plate of nachos. If I hadn’t had salsa at home already it would have been even worse.

Mexican joint owned by an asian family. Nice. It’s not the traditional, but I liked it nonetheless. We went for lunch and no one else was at the restaurant so we got seated right away. Since we were bunch of dudes, the server changed the tv channel to Sports Center(that’s worth a star in my book). The service was very pleasant and they even explained how they make their salsa verde to us when we asked. Even though it got kind of busy by the time we were done eating, they noticed our static hands and got the check to us right away. They even broke our twenties so we could split the bill evenly. As for the food, I had the breakfast burrito(I know… it was lunch, but I was craving it). The breakfast burrito is loaded and they give it to you cut in half, kind of like a chicken wrap. They also make it like a panini with the slight hint of char marks from the hot plate. Their food was filling and quite tasty. I’d be down to come here again for lunch.

This place is really bad. Service is non-existent and the food is sad. I try never to write negative reviews, but this place should be skipped. I went on a sunday with my girlfriend, on her suggestion, and immediately on entering i wanted to leave. There was one of those golden waving plastic cats you see in japanese restaurants sitting on the checkout counter. Strange for a «mexican» restaurant, no? Next the man behind the counter was indian and was smiling desparately at us. «Any table,» he said. The entire restaurant was empty, save for a small asian child watching cartoons and an asian woman, sleeping in one of the booths. I turned to my girlfriend,“did you check this place on Unilocal?” «a friend recommended it,» she said. We order. The shrimp cocktail is three overcooked shrimp in a can of watery tomato soup served with saltines and rock hard avocado chunks. Her shrimp tostado is chunks of grey shrimp on soggy crackers. Needless to say they were both terrible, and i was unable to finish my food. I contemplated pouring it out on the floor, as that could only have improved the flavor and presentation. The kicker… it was $ 20, and it actually pained me to tip. The cashier asked me if the food was ok… I shrugged and avoided eye contact. This was by far the worst dining experience i’ve had in la. It actually offended me that they could make such bad food and force people to pay. I felt i had been deceived. Please don’t make my mistake.

Used to love this place. avocado burgers are good good good. 7 dollars something for a full combo and will get you stuffed. I used to order from here whenever I got too lazy to get out of the house, and they always had super fast delivery! Not anymore I guess. I convinced my roommates to order from here, not only did they take more than an hour to get to my place, the delivery girl was SORUDE. She slammed my door because we didn’t leave her much tips. Um. sorry but food was cold, tacos were soggy, and your attitude killed it. Doubt we’ll order from here again. but avocado burgers, you will be missed.

ATTENTION! You Must Read This Review! I am absolutely sure this place is owned by Asians. Okay I know my review looks like a novel but trust me– you and your wallet will thank me for this review. I received their take out menu via mail and decided to see what my fellow Unilocalers have to say about this place. Good ol’ Jon K. review convinced me to give it a shot. I placed an order for delivery. My friend and I shared the Chile Relleno and the Ceviche Tostada. I had an Horchata drink for myself. Delivery was fast, they were here under 15 minutes. I was a little thrown off that the delivery guy was Asian. But I figured, wth everyone has to make a living right? Let’s eat! Chile Relleno was OKAY. I was surprised there was chicken stuffed in the chile along with the cheese. Interesting. But WHYARETHERESTILLPEPPERSEEDSINSIDE? Ugh. Ceviche Toasta(with Shrimp) wasn’t bad BUT it looks just like my salsa for chips with a few pieces of Shrimp. I expected them to add some extra flare to it but whatever. Horchata was obviously not the real deal. Two of my favorite Mexican drinks are Horchata and Orange Bang. And let me tell you, this Horchata was straight out of a can! NOLIE! Epic Fail here. Today I was hungry but couldn’t leave the office to pick up lunch so I decided to give this place another try, since they have fast delivery and all. I SHOULDHAVESTARVEDINSTEAD! Once again it’s an Asian delivery guy– but a different one? Wth… and when i placed my order over the phone the person on the other line sounded Asian too. I would know since I am Chinese. This place took over 45 minutes to delivery my lunch. I placed my order AFTER1PM! Which means AFTERRUSHHOUR. I get my food, Enchilada Plate with extra rice(i did say I’m Asian). My office is 5 blocks away from this place– how are you going to take 45 minutes after lunch rush hour. I open the box and I wanted to cry. The beans look old, the Mexican red rice is a cream color(why are you holding back on the tomato seasoning mix?!), how are you going to put my salad on top of the hot Enchilads?! Wth… EPICFAIL! They didn’t give me Tapatio sauce the second time around… How dare you feed me your bland Mexican food. I want to know how you sleep at night! So I’m a little angry– can you blame me?

This place isn’t as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Granted, it’s not going to knock your calcetines off, but it’s decent mexican food that delivers. I say give it a try. Try the carne asada torta. Oh! And their chips are pretty good. And their sauce… kinda weak, but its not bad. One plus(and it’s a big one): they deliver FAST! fastest delivery ive ever experienced. no joke, from the time I hung up on the phone to the time my doorbell rang: 8 minutes. yikes. is business that bad that my measly torta and taco order gets bumped up in priority to first class? in any case, that was nice.

A co-worker and I were debating lunch plans… I was starving! We came up with a few ideas and one of the ones she mentioned was an unnamed, B-rated Mexican restaurant that neither of us had been to. We then discussed some other options nearby, but the thought of Mexican food had already been planted in my head. Despite the B-rating, we decided to give it a go. It was definitely their lunch rush and there were a couple of people ahead of us. There was only one person though taking customers’ orders,(I think he was the owner), and he was also the only person answering their phone taking the delivery orders,(yes, free delivery), so we probably waited a good 3 – 4 mintues before ordering. Anyway, no problem and it just gave me more time to explore the menu. I ended up ordering their carnitas Mexican burrito with an additional chicken taco and my co-worker tried their ceviche. The ceviche looked pretty good and she liked it. As for my stuff, it was good, not great. A tad bland and this isn’t food that will blow you away. But, for a quick, inexpensive hole-in-the-wall, it wasn’t too bad. What sucked the most is that I wanted to try their chips and I guess none came with anything we ordered… WTF? For a typical Unilocaler looking for a good Mexican lunch, I would not recommend this place. If you’re in the area though or have a quick and simple taco food craving, maybe give it a shot. They have a pretty extensive menu, cheap prices and serve breakfast all day long.

I really don’t want to bash on La Choza because I’m sure that they WANT their food to be good– and that should count for something, right? Honestly, I’ve given this place many chances but enough is enough. The first time I ordered La Choza, it made me sick. The second time around, I thought I would play it safe and order a quesadilla and some french toast.(A Mexican restaurant that serves French Toast, I should’ve taken the hint!) I would think that its nearly impossible to screw up a quesadilla. I mean, its only two ingredients right? Tortilla and cheese? SOMEHOW, La Choza proved me wrong and provided me with the worst quesadilla I have ever eaten in my life(fact). I threw it away after 2 bites.(I had to take the second bite because I couldn’t believe that a quesadilla could taste so bad, so I had to make sure I wasn’t imagining things. I wasn’t imagining things.) I’m not even gonna say anything about the french toast. I’ll let your imaginations run wild with that one. One thing that La Choza DOES have going for them is that they do have good tortilla chips. The salsa however, not so good. I feel bad, but I would advise for everybody to stay away from this place.

I hate giving mediocre reviews to holes in the walls that really appear to need the business(well, either that, or they’re money-laundering establishments, which La Choza doesn’t appear to be), but unfortunately it is my duty to inform my fellow Unilocalers of my completely subjective and totally personally-biased opinion. Hey, it’s why I’m here… the abc’s of me, baby. Is it possible to love Mexican food enough to actually transform into a Mexican? No? I love the food, the culture, the country, the community, etc. I’m pretty convinced I’m turning Mexican I’m really turning Mexican I really think so… I mean, come on, there are pink-skinned, redheaded, hairy Mexicans, right? Well, maybe not, maybe I’m pushing it. But all of the people in Mexican restaurants call me puto and juero to my face, so that’s favorable, right? No, maybe not. Okay, strike three, I’m out. I guess I’m consigned to being a Scotch/Irish/Russian mutt for life. So anyways, back to La Choza. Yeah. Walked in and they were empty. I’ve driven by quite a few times because I am a regular at Sunnin next door. Every time that I’ve ever driven by La Choza they’ve been empty. As in only employees there. And yet one of the poor guys is ALWAYS cleaning the place. I ordered my two staples that I almost always order when sampling a new Mexican joint. Carne asada plate($ 10.25), and a carnitas taco($ 2). The guys who worked there were very friendly, so no issues with the service. They told me that they were out of carnitas, so I went with a chicken taco instead. The carne asada was meh. Pretty dry and flavorless, and not the best quality of meat. It came with beans(refried and super greasy), rice(was whatever, nothing special), and salad(drenched in thousand island… I hate thousand island). The chicken taco was okay, not really seasoned, but it was edible. They gave me extra salsa per my request(pretty mainstream, it was fine), and some type of chipotle-ish sauce(nice and spicy). I will say that, although they were pretty greasy, the chips were delicious and I’m pretty sure that they were homemade. All in all, for the price it wasn’t really reasonable. It was definitely a good amount of food, but I wouldn’t eat there again. Needless to say, it isn’t difficult to find good Mexican food in LA. 2 stars.

Not spectacularly awful. But pretty run-of-the-mill awful. If I hadn’t just come back from a month in Mexico I might be more charitable, but as is, one-and-a-half stars. Fine in times of need. Not good. The service is pretty lousy. It is ungodly warm in there. The food is on the bottom side of so-so — although it comes in enormous quantities and is particularly cheap if you share it. It’s just that I could make everything they make, and better. So why bother?

A menu showed up at our office the other day for La Choza and we were quite excited for a new place to get lunch delivered from. It doesn’t take much to excite us when it comes to food, particularly burritos brought to our door. Well, I just got done eating one of the worst chicken burritos I’ve ever had… and that’s saying something, because I’ve had a burrito in Utah. The chicken was bland and boring(cut into cubes), and I got about a tablespoon of rice and another tablespoon of beans as part of my combo with the crappiest burrito I’ve had in a while. I mean, I once had a shit-tastic burrito from some Indian guys that owned a lunch truck… but at least they tried(with their curry salsa and whatnot). This place just didn’t seem to care about the food they were making. I’d expect Mexicans making Mexican food near Mexico(2 – 3 hours drive isn’t THAT far) would be able to get this right. Unfortunately, they messed up 2 of the 5 meals we ordered(no substitutions or anything, they just forgot some of the food)… gave us a different total over the phone from what the delivery guy was asking for when he got here… 1 small bag of awful chips cooked in really old grease to share amongst 5 people… and apparently when I said«extra salsa», it meant«no salsa at all for any of the orders» to these guys. Who gets Mexican food without salsa? We won’t be ordering again. This place truly sucks.
