I purchased a Groupon for Élan Hair 1 day ago, and when I called to make an appointment, no one picked up. I called again the next day, and the owner picked up and we started to schedule an appointment. I told her it was my first time at her salon and that I had a Groupon, and she immediately said she was not accepting them anymore. When I told her I had already purchased it, she told me it was not her problem and that I needed to call Groupon to sort it out. Needless to say, Groupon gave me my money back. But just beware that the salon won’t honor any Groupons for services.

Choi was efficient and understands how to work with Asian hair. She spent time styling and curling my hair at the end, which I very much appreciated. Definitely an expert at styling hair for special events! Pricing was good and I definitely recommend to friends.

i just had my hair colored and styled by Joann at Élan & Nail Salon… and it is gorgeous! It’s now a rich, multi-faceted auburn that frames my face perfectly and makes me look at least ten years younger than my previous cut. This is how i’ve always wanted my hair to look! Can’t wait to see what Joann comes up with on my next visit.

Price was reasonable(cash preferred) and Choi was very sweet. Location was in a little courtyard across from Sprouts with metered parking. I was only in for a trim and basic layering so nothing too drastic and that’s what I got, along with some good advice on how to do my hair in my roll-out-of-bed-and-go lifestyle. However, cleanliness and organization of the place could be improved… tools were all over the place, items were falling off carts, and when Choi needed to dry my hair, she’d pick up the blow dryer off the floor, use it, and put it right back on the ground. Overall, good for a quick cut but I probably won’t be coming back because of the last part.

I had my haircut with Choi after making an appointment and had a great experience she was able to give me a cut that was perfect and just what I was looking for, she’s also very receptive to what you are looking for and willing to help with that.

I came here with some pretty messed up hair! I tried to bleach it myself and really messed up the color– it was pretty orangey. I also had a million split ends! I love keeping my hair long(this time I hadn’t cut it in three years) because every time I go to a hair stylist they cut off too much! I tell them I just want the split ends gone and they cut off five inches and are always frustrated by how much hair I have! With how much I messed up the color I knew I needed professional help whether I liked it or not. LUCKILY I LOVEDIT! She took her time figuring out what color would look best for me, then she meticulously added a whole bunch of very skinny highlites to my hair to give the blonde a more natural look. This is a really really difficult task for any hairdresser too because I have SOMUCHHAIR. I’ve never measured it but my hair almost touches my butt! I mean it’s a lot of hair! haha. She also dyed my eyebrows to match my hair! All in all, the color correction she did was just amazing. Then she gave me an amazing deep conditioning wash and cut off only the dead parts! ONLYTHEDEADPARTS. She didn’t hack at my hair and ruin it like every other hair stylist I’ve ever been too. My hair felt so healthy and nice after it was all done, that was about two weeks ago, and my hair is still awesome! Even though I damaged my hair a lot it’s totally back to normal now because of the deep conditioning wash and the cutting of the dead ends. I keep getting compliments on how nice and natural my hair looks! It’s making me feel great! I’ve been pretty sick of bouncing around hair stylists over the years and I’m glad I found a hairdresser I will consistently go back to.

I love this hairstylist. She can fix anything! I had my coarse hair bleached twice and was left lifeless with a blonde tone that did not flatter my skin color. On top of that, the other hairstylist had trimmed off all the dead ends and left me with an ugly short hair cut. Choi took her time with two strand tests to make sure the correction color would come out perfect and was careful not to damage my hair. She put a vegetable color and it actually closed the cuticle, making it a healthy beautiful brunette. So much more flattering. Then she put extensions and I AM A WOMANAGAIN! 10 stars. everything looks so natural and amazing.

I went to this salon for a hair color. What a rip-off and poor quality of work. When i called to get a price for hair color, she told me $ 60. After the hair color, she charged me extra $ 35 saying hair color does not include hair wash and a regular blow dry… if i was going to get just the hair color… would i go home with the color and not even have my hair washed??? Also, she did a terrible job with the hair color… the color faded in 2 weeks. I DONOT recommend this place at all.

It’s hard to find a person that can cut Asian hair as well as I’d like. I’m very glad to have met Choi because she is willing to give you whatever style you prefer. I’ve been so frustrated in Westwood when I ask for a nice, short haircut and I get the full buzzcut. Choi was someone who knew exactly what I wanted and asked the right questions to give me the look I wanted. During the haircut I could tell she was a very experienced and skilled stylist, blending in friendly conversation with a steady stream of measured trims throughout the session. Choi came off as a very charismatic and charming lady, and she is both a pleasure to talk to and a highly skilled professional as well. Her salon may not look as high end as other places, but its the person with the scissors that really makes the place stand out. I would definitely recommend her to all of my friends looking for a great haircut at a good price.

for the past year or so i’ve been going to fantastic sams because i clearly wasnt educated in what an actual hair cut should look like. the last time i went they fucked up my hair sooo bad, i looked like a little boy, no hair. so this time around, i asked all my friends where i could get a good cut for a great price and my friend recomended me to Choy. I went in and asked for a cute edgy cut, and got the best hair cut i think i’ve ever gotten. fuck super-cuts &all those comerical places. Élan is an intimate experience, a cute shop, great people, and great hair. I’m deff coming back, this is my new spot.

As a long time client of Choi’s, I’d like to echo the praises from her new UCLA student fans. For males, females, 15 or 50+, She has been the best, most professional person for color and cut for years. Both my husband and I followed her to her new salon which is a comfortable place in a courtyard, quiet, fresh air, with good people. She’ll accomodate your schedule and take great care with your hair at a fair price.
