Jo Liu Photography

After doing some research online, I ran into Jo Liu’s online portfolio and fell in love with her work. I sent Jo an email and she responded promptly with details and pricing. We stayed in touch for several months, and throughout that time we brainstormed together: What looks are you going for? Are you looking into high fashion or commercial modeling? Which side do you think is your best side?, etc. She also informed me on the types of clothing and accessories to bring and how to prepare for our shoot.
Working with her was such a pleasure! Although I’m not a model, Jo showed great enthusiasm and worked with me to get the best shots.
Not only is Jo skilled at what she does, she is also a down-​to-​earth individual with a great sense of humor. She was involved in my shoot from lighting to makeup, and she even picked my wardrobe! She is very persistent and will motivate you to step out of your comfort zone to capture the most natural/​timeless shots.
Her goal is to capture your inner and outer beauty with her camera, which is an ability that not many photographers have. From the very beginning til’ the end she welcomed me with open arms and easily made me feel comfortable in front of the camera.
If you are in search of a photographer that is fun to work with, creative, and provides excellent personal service please do not look elsewhere. For the best headshots, full length, fashion, commercial, advertising shots; you name it, Jo is one of LA/NYC’s finest.

Jo is fantastic! I’ve been to see her twice for different headshots, and she is always incredibly professional and fun to work with. She totally figured out my personality, and captured it perfectly. Jo is an AWESOME photographer! I worked with her in the winter of 2008 to do a portfolio overhaul for both my actor’s headshot and modeling comp card. She gives a free meeting before scheduling a shoot to her clients so that you can meet her face to face, and talk to her about the ideas you have for your shoot, and she gives her take on things and offers her ideas for your project. I thought that meeting was really great to get everything established, and to make sure everyone was on the same page before the shoot itself.
The shoot itself was really great. Jo’s got a fun, very positive energy on set and is super professional. The process was efficient but very thoughtful. She is a master with the lighting, and these are the best pictures I have in my portfolio to date in the 8 years I have been acting/​modeling. I have had a lot of success with the photos from this shoot in both my modeling and acting endeavors. I just signed with a new commercial agency and a new modeling agency in L. A. who took a meeting with me after viewing these photos and my resume.
I definitely recommend Jo if you’re looking to update your portfolio and are interested in something out of the ordinary. Jo’s photos have an artistic bent so that even my actor’s headshots really stand out compared to other actor friends of mine. Thanks again Jo, and I hope to work with you again soon!
