This is one of my favorite hole-in-the-wall DTLA spots! Love the salad and the alfredo pasta!

I went in to try this restaurant out on a whim. The menu looked and sounded delicious. The service was excellent. The cook even waved and smiled at me. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken(sub Penne pasta. No mushroom). Yes, they made the order custom for me with no problem. The presentation was marvelous and the food came out quickly. The reason I am giving this 2 stars is, there were about 6 cubed bites of chicken in the pasta. 6 –8 bites, like the size of the chicken pieces in a can of drug store chicken noodle soup. I do not really like to eat lots of pasta, just a taste now and then, so with so little chicken in my entrée I actually had to leave the restaurant and go have a real dinner.

Great coffee, would have been 5 stars but they only took cash. Recommemd any of the coffees. My husband lived the one with honey and I did the wakeup!

Whenever I’m in a rush to grab lunch or dinner, Il Macchiato is a solid choice. My usual choices are a house salad, vegetarian sandwich, or alfredo pasta. The food here is always good and comes in generous portions making for great leftovers. You can’t really beat their prices either, especially in LA. They deliver great quality food for a fraction of what most LA restaurants charge. Service here is always great! I’d recommend this place if you’re in downtown looking for a good, satisfying meal at a reasonable price.

Cute café’ nestled in the heart of the financial district downtown, not really meant for dining in, too small in my opinion, but hey, others don’t mind being packed in like sardines with strangers when eating. I circled the block 3 times before finding parking. Each time I passed a parking lot it was on the wrong side of the street and this area is plagued with one way streets. Unless you’re within walking distance, better to order delivery. Ordered Caprese Salad with grilled eggplant. There is an art to grilling eggplant to give a light char without overgrilling and Machhiato knows how. The greens were crisp… the balsamic was overly vinegary… but easy with it. and it’s fine. Two orders of Veggie and Pesto Sandwich loaded with Goat cheese, arugula, tomoatoes, grilled eggplant and gently toasted wheat bread and I ate half of mine on the way back to the office. Yum.

Nice little café with amazing lattes, desserts and sandwiches! They have the cutest latte art as well! I swear these cute designs make the latte taste so much better. Great environment to chill and have conversations with a friend. I had the potted milk tea drink and my friend and I shared a sundae. Cute presentation with my drink. Thought it was OK. We loved our sundae though! Quality of ice cream was creamy and smooth.

Delicious food for such a great price! Tried this place out for the first time today and I will definitely be going back for more. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Breast sandwich & the Special Pasta, both plates were the perfect serving size and even better you can share it with a friend if you’d like to try more that one item from their menu. I would definitely recommend this café!

This was the first time I tired this restaurant. I got the chicken breast panini, and it was ALLRIGHT. It was a bit tasteless. Side salad was dry and not very edible. Over all there are plenty of places to eat in the area if your feeling a sandwich, but I don’t recommend this one.

Super weird. I came at 6pm and was told they were closing. I thought they closed at 7? Dumb.

Potted milk tea: The milk tea taste is unique not like your regular milk tea taste, price around $ 4, not that special, just looks cute. Matcha Macchiato: Too much green tea powder remaining, the art is adorbs, price a around $ 4, tasted not too bitter, a little creamy, just the way I like it. Macchiato Sundae Waffles: Very tasty! I got the Mochi flavored waffles and they’re so chewy and delicious! Comes with 3 ice cream from Fosselman’s and berries. Delicious. This was my first time coming here and I loved it. I just wouldn’t want to get the potted milk tea again. People sitting inside usually use their electronic devices, and people outside have more convo. The ambience is great and the service and everything about the workers is perfect!

I live across the street from this place. It will always hold a special place in my heart. Amos, the manager, is the best. He really knows his coffee. The food is solid, service(Amos) is always super friendly and you can’t beat the price for a tasty meal compared to anywhere else downtown. $ 8.95 for a delicious sandwich with a little side salad combo. The Prosciutto special has everything I want in a sandwich(Prosciutto, goat cheese, arugula, mushrooms, pesto) served on fresh toasted bread. Yum. One half star taken away for location and ambiance, but you can’t really blame them for the neighbourhood. There is a reason they close at 9pm. And I live there! But for the faint of heart you have to know that you shouldn’t stand outside to wait for your food because you really never know who might decide to corner you. Perfect place for lunch or early dinner.

Considering this place is walking distance from my work I was bound to come check it out. I ordered the specialty pasta #1(Grilled chicken breast, goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes, basil, marinara sauce) for 8.95 but for about 11 bucks I also included half a sandwich which is a steal because its super bomb! The pasta is also very tasty and the sauce is home made so you know its going to be good! The wait time is about 15 min but its def. worth it! I usually would call in and have them take my order and than go pick up. Parking is a little difficult because its on the Cornish of 5th and hill st so walking is recommended. The staff there are very friendly and very considerate; they will make your order just the way you want it! All you need to do is ask. It is very filling and more times than none I would take it back home to eat for dinner haha. Will be coming back :)

Food delivery is super fast Food is yummy, big portions Impressed by how they package their soup, pasta and salad. Soup was piping hot when it arrived! The man who delivered was courteous and friendly. Prices are more than reasonable too.

Way overdue review… I found this little gem about 2 years ago. My sister and I were famished and didn’t want to deal with fast food crap. So we were on the hunt. This place is very quaint and can be easily missed. I love the size of this place each visit feels so intimate and wonderful. Now let’s get to it: food. The food portion for the pasta is big. I always end up taking half home. The food here is well prepared & presented. Their pastas are awesome. I like that they add spice to their dishes. My fav is their specialty past # 2. Their sammies are fan-freaking-tastic! They use nice rolls that they grill on a panni maker. The sammies come accompanied by a nice small salad. Try their chicken and mushroom Sammie, you cannot go wrong. May I also suggest their mocha. Or a refreshing boba tea. The manager of this fine establishment is very friendly. Good guy! Don’t forget there is always room for yummy dessert. Good eats.

Continuing my search for the perfect lunch spot to deliver food to my fatty ass during work, I came upon Il Macchiato Café. At a four-star average rating, this place already sounded better than the majority around my work. I took a look at their online menu and called in. A woman with a Spanish accent picked up and took my order speedily. I was surprised at the cost — for a Special #2 Pasta($ 8.95), it cost me less than $ 10 for them to deliver to me, which probably meant there’s no delivery fee. Great! Unfortunately, Special #2 Pasta isn’t really all that special: penne pasta, sundried tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, basil, all in tomato sauce. Pretty run-of-the-mill and almost comparable to Sbarro(although Sbarro might be a bit tastier). Included were 4 measly slices of Garlic toast. Definitely have had better. Il Macchiato isn’t bad and I’d come again if I’m in the mood for pasta, and I’d really like to try their paninis. Until then, my search for the perfect work lunch spot continues!

I generally hesitate to walk east of Hill St. Aside from the fact that someone once tried to purse-snatch me in broad daylight, it feels cluttered, dirty, and unsafe. But Il Macchiato isn’t too far off and the panini is tasty. Their paninis are essentially second-rate versions of Il Tramezzino, which isn’t a bad thing(because Il Tramezzino is amazing!). I get the Turkey Breast Panini with roma tomatoes instead of sundried. The crust is perfectly pressed and the garlicky basil aioli adds great taste. While Mendocino Farms reigns supreme, not many DTLA sandwich shops have good paninis so Il Macchiato adds variety to the local sandwich scene. They also have a juice and coffee bar, with smoothies and boba. The desserts are alright, but not worth a $ 4 slice. Service is friendly and quick, and there are a couple tables inside if you want to eat there.

I’m so sad to have discovered this hidden café so late into the year! It’s located only a block from my workplace in Downtown LA. When it comes to food in Downtown LA, I’m always a bit apprehensive because of the price and quality of food. I’m glad that my friend introduced this place to me though. I ordered: —(half) Fettucino Alfredo Pasta —(half) Grilled Breast of Chicken Came out around $ 12 I honest didn’t expect much so I was surprised when I got the first taste of the pasta. One of the best I’ve ever had(and I’ve had some fancy ones too). I think the sauce was perfect — not too creamy. There’s just so much flavor to it. I usually almost never order a chicken sandwich either. But I gave it a shot since the owner recommend it. That was also really good — delicious and not dry at all. It didn’t seem like a lot of food but I was only able to eat half of it. I ended up eating the rest 8 hours later, but the taste was still great. Credit Card: minimum of $ 10 I can’t wait to go again! ps. Don’t order the bobas… probably not the best quality for its price.
