Great little shop on the West Side of Chinatown just off of Hill Street. This is one of those fun little art shops where you never know what you will find. What you are sure to see, however, is an interesting, eclectic collection or art and novelty items. Fifth Floor is easy to get to. It is across the street from Chinatown’s Central Plaza in the(Other) section of Chinatown. If you are driving to it you can take the 110N and get off at the Hill Street, «Chinatown Exit.» Then, a hundred yards up or so, when you see the Chinatown arches to your left, grab a metered parking spot or hit one of the lots and explore. Since the new evolution of Chinatown began, with its added art shops and art galleries, this establishment has been a constant mainstay. Recommended.

fan of moma. design w/in reach. and other interior decoration stores of that nature? then this hidden gem is for you… tucked away in old chinatown… this store’s first floor carries assorted accessories & pieces of a modern nature the second floor landing currently serves as a furniture display… but seems like you must visit for the ever changing exhibits ~*~ a nice change of pace from the typical chinatown wares… shoppes, ateliers, & galleries now dot chinatown’s landscape and make a day trip that much more interesting!

Give your eyes a good rub before you step into Fifth Floor, because you’re about to be amazed. A little utopia of perfect gift ideas in the dead center of Chinatown. Everything you never knew you needed and more! Robert, the owner, clearly has discerning tastes. A motley crew of eclectic items from all over the world that ban together in one store/gallery, and somehow just fit harmoniously. Look up, down, and everywhere as you’re probably going to miss stuff in a once through. It’s all very thoughtful. And be sure to pet Olive, as she apparently has a cult following(she’s the dog, by the way).

Super cool gallery space with lots of great gifts for the art lover. Robert the owner knows his stuff. Don’t miss this gallery on your next trip to Chinatown. Ps — there’s a great puppet theater next door too.

This super cool gallery offers: * Thoughtful furniture pieces * Unique handcrafted jewelry by local artists * Clever gift items(plants, kitchen implements, vases, coasters, etc) * Sophisticated and sleek plates, cups, bowls * Artwork Add friendly service and the sweetest dog strolling around to this mix, and I say they deserve a glowing 5-star review! I loved every single thing here, bought a few cool gifts for myself and others, and am looking forward to coming back again!

Fifth Level is one of my go-to gift spots — especially for my artsy, eco friends/family. the owner, curates great art and gifts. And my favorite part about shopping at this spot is Olive — the Fifth Level dog — she’s adorable!

Awesome hybrid art and design gallery! So many things that I want, I have to be careful with my pocket book every time I go in. The gallery openings are always amazing as well! Make sure you get on the email list when you go, otherwise you might miss out on some of the amazing shows

My sister is an artist… teaches at Parsons in New York. My wife and daughter are both artistically inclined. My daughter works for a prominent clothing manufacturer in product development. I, on the other hand, am an accountant. Stick figures drawn by me are regularly criticized by my wife’s 3 year old students. So this review is not meant to speak to those of you who consider yourselves knowledgeable in the ways of artistic endeavor. This review is meant for the common man. We’ve been to several openings and events of the art galleries in China Town on Chun King Court. My daughter lives downtown and has come to know several of the gallery owners and has encouraged us to come down. Although I know I do not possess whatever it takes to fully appreciate some of the art we’ve seen, it is always an interesting experience and I look forward to making it a habit. Of all the galleries we’ve been in, The Fifth Floor appeals to me the most. The art displayed and for sale, in many cases, has a practical appeal to this accountant. Among the practical items we’ve actually purchased(or been gifted): a throw rug in the shape and pattern of a T-Bone steak which ended up on the wall in our kitchen; a credit card sized knife and fork cut-out to be carried in your wallet for those dining emergencies when using your hands just isn’t an option; a whiskey/scotch lover’s glass set including ceramic«rocks» which provide a non-diluting chill for your favorite libation. There are also many unique and reasonably priced jewelry lines and furniture pieces. The owner of the gallery, Robert, designs contemporary furniture which combines metal and wood with clean elegant lines. .. very practical, but beautiful. There are regular guest artist displays and the occasional special event like the one we went to last night: «R.I.P. is a series of printed fabric sculptures sewn as pillows. These reference the final resting places of dead animals being prepared for skeletal specimens by a dermestid beetle colony.» Sounds a little esoteric, I know. .. but they were pillows. .. so that’s practical. .. right? In any case, the display itself was unique and well thought out. The pillows were each resting on individual glass shelves suspended over mirrors so you could see the backs which had different images, but related to the«front.»(See photo). Alright. If you haven’t been to Chinatown(or even downtown) in a while, you should check this place out along with the other galleries on Chun King court. It’s a really nice evening downtown when combined with a nice dinner at one of the many restaurants within a few minutes drive. If you’re usual evening out is dinner and a movie, it’s a refreshing change of pace and, like us, you may just find yourself making it a regular stop.
