The Jancar Gallery( ) has been around since 2006 but its move to the«new» location in Chinatown dates to 2008. This gallery consistently delivers really good provocative art. Needless to say it is one of my favorites in the Chinatown Arts District(CAD). The last show I saw here was Annie Sprinkle and Elizabeth Stephens’s «The Collaboration». I think it’s a great example of what you can expect here. This show was remarkable and packed an amusing message. Here are some of the best examples of the great art at this show: The gallery is open Wednesday — Saturday 12 – 5PM according to their web site. Parking is an issue in Chinatown unless you know where to park. Here’s a great parking tip. You can find free parking between Phở 87 and Cathedral High School. Best of all it’s only a very short stroll to the art galleries from there. If you are interested in seeing more of what the CAD has to offer but don’t have the time to come here you may be interested in checking out my blog:

The Jancar Gallery is located in the heart of Chinatown. We were visiting Chinatown for the Moon Festival and were pleasantly surprised that so many art galleries were open. This gallery definitely had the most provocative exhibition inspired by the 70s era… let’s just say it included a lot of nudity and pushed the audience to new limits. The staff was really friendly and clearly studied how the the public interacted with one another. The gallery also includes a space underground. I’ll for sure stop by this gallery next time I’m in Chinatown and there is an art event happening.
