It is painful to write this review. We loved Erica Courtney, and raved about her, even to people who weren’t admiring our wedding rings. A good jeweler relationship(and she’s a talented jeweler) depends on trust — and our experience suggests you might not want to trust Erica Courtney, Circa 2011. Our fourth transaction with them went wrong — and hiding behind«our business model» as a way to dump 100% of the costs of a botched situation on the customer just isn’t right — and Unilocalers need to know, and to be extra careful, sadly. BACKGROUND: We had a great experience when we bought our wedding rings from EC ten years ago. We shopped around to find them/her: decent, nice friendly folks with great designs, etc. We didn’t go top of the line, but we felt respected and the rings were perfect for us — a great expression of the marriage we hoped to create.(I’ve also bought great earrings, necklaces, etc, from them on other occasions.) Three or four years ago, I lost my wedding ring. Heartbroken, I went back to their store, and they took care of me — I paid 3x as much for the replacement, but it was the same ring, again, and we were thrilled, and we became even more the kind of customers who told everyone how great Erica, and her company, were. WHATHAPPENEDTHISTIMETHATMADEUSGIVETHEMONESTAR: Here’s where it gets dark — today’s version of their company. A few months ago, I lost my ring again. Again, I went in for a replacement — this time ordering two rings of slightly different sizes, one for winter one for summer, so I’d always have a tight one and be less likely to lose my wedding ring ever again.(I also scooped up some more great earrings while placing my order). Unbeknownst to me, they didn’t have the same supplier any more, so a) the replacements were much cheaper looking and feeling(cut from bar stock instead of molded, etc), and b) the design was wrong(two black stripes in the silver instead of one). In their defense, I didn’t really look at the replacements at all: I assumed they were capable of reproducing them again, and I left them in their envelope to take out a few months later, when we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. We tried to return them, saying«look, you guys missed on the design and the quality, and we failed to catch this error sooner(because of our previous good experiences) — we respect the circumstances of small businesses, so we don’t expect a full refund — just meet us in the middle somewhere, as both parties were responsible.» The official response from Stacy was«(Tough Luck) it’s not our business model to even give partial refunds on custom work.» So there it is: they couldn’t deliver a replacement version of their product, as they had in the past. They didn’t tell me they couldn’t do it, and they made it wrong, and because I didn’t catch it right away, it’s 100% my cost? Not even a partial or paltry refund, or a store credit for a fraction of the amount? Stacy said it was«policy» and all they could do is let us save a few thousand dollars on new replacement that was 14X more expensive than the replacements we’d ordered. Great-looking stuff, and great if you are rich or a Hollywood somebody they want to suck up to, but the basic values exhibited in this case suggest that the generous spirit that made shopping at Erica Courtney worth paying a little more is gone — you should be suspicious and cautious — sadly.

I am new to Los Angeles and have heard Erica Courtney’s name on the red carpet. SO, I decide to stop by and check it out for myself. From the moment I walked in the door, I felt as though I have known the sales girls forever. I felt so comfortable and welcomed, it was quite refreshing! I don’t even know where to begin with the jewelry, it really is Drop Dead Gorgeous! I purchased my first Erica Courtney piece and have already received several compliments. I started a wish list and I can’t wait to go back!
