On the corner of Sweetzer and Beverly Blvd lies Eric Buterbaugh Florals, NOT to be confused with their(actual) floral boutique on Doheny in the Four Seasons. This specific location houses some rather unique artwork, a couple of roosters(not real, of course) and a room dedicated to seven spectacular… scents. Mr. Buterbaugh has entered the fragrance business. Getting to this space is half the journey. You enter into a beautiful courtyard(not unlike the previous Kiki de Montparnasse on Melrose before its current location on the same street) where you no longer feel as though you’re on busy Beverly Blvd. The art gallery spans lengthwise to your left, and you make your way back where the fragrance salon can be found. A lovely associate named Olivia was very kind and helpful; I had searched online and was interested in one of their specific fragrances(Virgin-Lily of the Valley, if you were curious) and I was not disappointed. Instead of testers where you lamely spray or dab the scent onto a paper-esque card, they have a welcoming display where you lift up a lid(similar to one found on a cake stand) to inhale the fragrance at its most potent. Underneath each glass dome-shaped cover lies a fragrance ’tile’ that is saturated in one of the seven fragrances, giving you the most intimate experience of each selection at its finest. As for variety, a larger bottle is also available, candles with coordinating canister matches(limited availability at this time), and a seven-scent kit which features all in smaller spray vials. An atomizer is included with larger bottle purchases, convenient for travel, or if you prefer your scent in a spray. The only downfall of my visit is another one of their perfumes appealed to me as well(Velvet-Lavender), so a crucial decision would have to made since a 3.4oz retails for $ 300. I better LOVE this fragrance since I’ll be holding onto for quite a while. This is an absolutely stunning oasis unexpected of this area. I highly recommend a visit if you’re already a fan of Eric Buterbaugh flowers; for now you can take the scent of your favorite bouquet with you everywhere. Edit: PLEASE keep in mind this is NOT where you would go to order his flowers. Yes, they are on display, but this is technically not a florist; Unilocal won’t let me change the category. ‘Fragrance/Art/Specialty/Gifts’ would be most appropriate.
