I don’t have much to say about this place. My mom always comes here to buy the bolillos/​french rolls. That’s about it. We love them. We did buy a cake once and no one liked it. So sad. I was going to buy my wedding cake here until that happened. Basically to me the only great thing they have is the bolillos. Oh and by the way there is no parking. Well at least when I went I didn’t find any parking. I give them 4 stars though becuase I do love the freshly made bolillos.

Like my favorite, Portos Bakery in Glendale, El Porvenir Bakery definitely caters to baked goods with a Spanish twist.
SETUP
Part-​restaurant, part-​bakery, and part household good stop, El Porvenir is your local neighborhood establishment that has a bit of everything for the locals.
On this afternoon, it was nice to stop in and get some Enchiladas verde which were yummy. I also like the Spanish style rolls here, and if you’re lucky, you’ll get them right when they come out of the oven HOT.

I went here to try the chicken pipian as I don’t recall ever having a dish with pumpkin sauce before. I guess fortune did not smile on my effort to try it as they were out. The people who work there were nice about explaining dishes and seemed ready to help. So in the end I had black mole and chicken instead, making a solid good meal itself. (Each meal seems to come with rice, your choice of beans, and your choice of flour, corn tortilla or bread.)
What I really really enjoyed here however, was my companion’s pork ribs with salsa, I kept soaking up the flavorful salsa with a piece of fresh bread. I’m still dreaming of that bread and salsa now, a week later.
The place also serves as a bakery, a bit of a snack food joint, and for some reason may sell some household supplies?
