The food is great… Very authentic oaxacan plates. Probably my favorite from around the area. However, don’t come hungry… Usually the waitress is the cook so you wait a while. Definitely worth the wait. Only had one bad experience with one of the staff, but I just avoid her like the plague. Other than her I love this place.

First of all their delivery service is horrible. Seriously takes forever to get a meal! Why not just have carry out ONLY! SORRY food isn’t worth the wait. Tortas are pretty dry. Les hace falta mejor cocinero/a

Great traditional cuisine! Mole is delicious. Had the molcajete, which was nice for keeping the food hot for a long time. Wonderful service and homemade vibe. I had their tamarindo agua fresca, and it was a little sweeter than I like, but still good.

First and last time… food was decent but be careful with the bill they charge for every little thing. Refills are not included. I asked the server if our plate came with beans she said yes and when they brought my plate there was just rice so I paid for a side of beans… you expect a la carte prices from a nicer restaurant not this place. I added up my bill and I was overcharged 2 dollars. So she said it was for the refill… I feel like they took advantage of us… oh and cash only(another inconvenience)

My family and I stopped by this place after visiting the cathedral. We were hungry and words on the wall that read«parrilladas y molcajetes» made us turn back. Once we got a closer look I was a little hesitant to eat here since the place was empty, and it isn’t the fanciest fyi. If you are allergic to hole in the wall places, this is not the place for you. Service was not on point per se. It seems some of the employees were having lunch. Once we looked at the menu I discovered the Molcajete was too pricey for my taste at Thirty. All other items were reasonable thought, at around Ten. After we ordered the manager brought us some chip topped with Mole Negro and queso fresco. I have to say this was a very delicious sauce. I regretted not ordering Mole after he told us how they make it– toasted, not fried, and flour free! He kindly gave us another serving after our compliments. Everyone at the table ordered something different and everyone was happy. The only things we agreed to stay away from were the tap water(tap water taste) and champurrado. Very satisfied!

Great food :-) really authentic mexican food,.a really small place but very big on flavor. The only reason iam giving 4 stars its because it took a long time to get my food but i guess the wait was worth it, food was really good. Order the mix botana enough for sharing with 4 persons.

Great variety of different Mexican food ranging from the typical enchiladas to oddities like Clayuda! What? Really it’s like a Mexican pizza of sorts. I ordered the veggie option and was totally surprised at the size(~think medium pizza). It was a handmade tortilla, toasted, smothered with beans, then some veggies & cheese. I suppose it could also be an over sized tostada w/o the lettuce & sour cream. Delish! Though I wish someone warned me about the size as it could have easily been shared between 2 people. If you love veggies I also recommend Nopal Zapoteco(cactus) with veggies & cheese dish. The beans are good, not too salty or runny. The white rice w peas/corn/carrots is not typical of most Mexican places but it is awesome! I’m not a fan of horchata but their Oaxacan horchata is highly recommended. It includes a scoop of prickly pear home made ice cream and almond bits. Exotic treat? Try the prickly pear ice cream which is lactose free!

To be very honest my first and only visit was today and also my last. The waitress wasn’t very welcoming and ignored my girlfriend and i as soon as we walked in. i ordered a tamale DE mole and my partner ordered molotes. we waited 15 min to place our order and another 30 min to even get the food. the wait was so long for our small order the owner came out being very nice to apologize for wait. that was the only great part about the visit. he also gave us a free desert for the wait. the food was okay but not enough to go back I’m sad to say this but i thought it would be way better than it was.

I was really surprised at how amazing the food was. My husband and I came here on a whim cuz our tummies were not going to have tacos from the lunch truck 3 nights in a row. We found the place on Unilocal and saw it had great reviews(only 4 but still pretty decent average). This is one where you pass by everyday without even taking a second glance but once you start you cant stop. The food is very traditional which makes it amazing. You have to try the horchata stilo de oaxaca. Different from the normal horchata most americanized latinos drink but darn good. If you’re looking for that perfect hole-in-the-wall restaurant, this is it! I took off one star cuz food took a while but definately worth the wait. But remember… this is food from Oaxaca, Mexico so don’t expect the traditional trademark mexican food… but they have that too!

I’ve gotten food from this place many times. Great authentic taste and friendly service. You can order to go or enjoy your meal inside with their Rancheras Juke box! Well its a variety of music. And delicious chicken soup, for when you are feeling under the weather! P. S. And they are Gringo friendly too.

I always have had a great experience at this place. Not your tipical commercial restaurant like Guelaguetza, good service, a lot of times you get served by the owner who is a very nice and attentive guy. Food is made to your liking and very nice portions for the price paid. Try the molcajetes, enchiladas, moles and of course Tacos de barbacoa(goat tacos). If you want to experience and try a traditional drink tejate It is a prehispanic traditional drink made of flowers, cacao beans and mamey. Sorry no translation here. This is not available all of the time since is a hand made drink, I always call 30 minutes before I come in and they will make this for us. Feel like trying something new and from an ancient culture? Try tejate at el Rinconsito Oaxaqueno. Have fun Only thing that sucks sometimes is the fact that there is no alcohol served here, food makes up for the lack of.

AKA El Nuevo RinconCito Oaxaqueño I’ve never been to Guelaguetza, but that’s mostly on the advice of Pico-Union locals who say it’s just aight. I have been to 7 Regiones a couple times, but not enough to review yet. Although, I can definitely say that I dig the home-style vibe at El Nuevo Rinconsito more. El Nuevo Rinconsito is my go-to spot for a Oaxacan fix and culinary embassy for friends who only know about burritos, tacos and quesadillas. Location. SW corner of Pico and Menlo, 1st block east of vermont. Street parking, never had a problem. The service is excellent. The young lady is friendly and always smiling and the owner guy is supremely gregarious and very excited to expose visitors to the delights of his home state. Old-school hospitality. What I’ve eaten: Homemade tortillas with everything! +1 out the gate! Rice and beans are always great, not too heavy. The guacamole is always good, as is the chips with mole and cotija sprinkled on top. Mole(s) Negro, Colorado, Amarillo, Verde — All unique and delicious. Tamales made with these moles are great way to try ‘em all out. Nopal Zapoteco — Tasty. There is meat in this dish, though you’d never know it from the menu. Memelas — 6-inch thick tortilla with black beans and some meat. SOLID! Clayuda — Massive flatbread with bean spread, avocado, tomato, quesillo. Tasty! Especially with the right meat, which is chorizo. Parrillada Oaxaqueña — a mountain of food. All meats, nopales, quesillo, shrimp, peppers. a commitment Botana Oaxaqueña — another minimum 2 person tray of food. Tamales, meats, chiles rellenos, memelas and lots of tangy oaxacan string cheese. Delicious. Tamal de mole — Bomb! Tacos de Barbacoa — Great tortillas, had it a couple times, sometimes better than others. Egg dishes are great. Huevos rancheros & a la mexicana, slamming. Enchiladas torito — Chicken enchiladas swimming in freshly made warm salsa verde. Tangy, just a touch of spice, meaty and covered in cheese. The aguas are bomb too. Horchata with crushed almonds and a scoop of prickly pear(tuna) ice cream. The agua de coco was outstanding. There is some variance in awesomeness between visits, but never below a solid B+. Mostly an A or, 4.5 stars. Still, as good as I’ve ever had. Service and vibe push it up to a solid 5 stars. Every half hour your train of thought will be violently derailed by an explosive norteño jam on the jukebox. Ride it out. Things to avoid: Sabados y domingos 12 – 3. UNLESS… you’re already drunk and feeling homesick. Homie’s singing may trigger the tear ducts of yer average drunk paisa, but the s#!t is way too loud for the size of the room.
