I first heard about El Monje with a flyer in the mail which confused me since I knew that a gas station resided on the corner of Western and Pico Blvd. Then I walked by and heard the music(They’re always pumping some Latin music) and noticed the little stand. Unlike many trucks and stands they don’t stay out very late but seem to be stationed there for most of the day. About a week ago I decided to try them out. So their menu has small tortas for $ 7 and larger ones for $ 10. So far I’ve eaten their cubana(a $ 10) and toluqueno($ 7) both of which were good. Not the best torta I’ve had but far from the worst. Even the small torta was pretty big and filling. To be honest you can split a $ 10 one with someone else(they cut the sandwiches in half anyway).
