What this makes places good is the food. Went 12⁄6. This place lack a sense of decent customer service. The waitress rude, indifferent and had attitude because we told her the order was wrong. She basic threw the food at us. The owner doesn’t seem to care either. In the middle of dinner they asked to move my car. These people have no couth. I hope they go out of business, They don’t deserve to be in business.

Yes i am hispanic, but my saldadorean friends have gotten me addicted to pupusas. Sadly these pupusas weren’t to good the cheese /lorroco was sour and the pupusas were too oily. I went to the bathroom and theirs a nail sticking out which scraped me, that pissed me off. Only reason why I’m giving this place 3 stars is because my future ex wife is working their, a sexy indigenous saldadorean beauty with a resting bitch face that’ll make your hair stand up. Got Dam! More curves than a roller coaster. Only way ill come back is when I’m riding in a Lamborghini to pick her up. Other than that ill be at cazuelas.

So far I’ve been to this place three times and love the experience every time. I always get my favorite drink not sure what it called I believe in English term it’s called water salad of fruit«Aqua Ensalada de fruta» it has cut up fruit with ice and some kind of juice and I loveeeee it, I’ve never loved a drink so much it’s so refreshing. Foods wonderful has a very Hispanic theme with live music and DJ certain days, and a projector for music videos. No complaints

This was the worst experience ever after an hour and 20 minutes of waiting for my food everything was cold and it wasn’t even that good. Talk about a very bad experience. I never want to go back there.

«Excelente» food for budget minded individuals & families. Food is made to order, «have patience» my Anglo friends and you will be rewarded. My Asian wife tells me the rice and beans are way better than any Mexican restaurant she’s tried. This place has live music/kareoke from Fri-Sun. There are also seasonal entries, there’s a special«Salted Fish and Garbanzo» entry for Lent and«Salvi-turkey sandwiches for Christmas».

The pupusas are not good. They fill them up with cheese and not what you order. Looks dirty. The waitresses are not polite. They look like they don’t want to be there. The price is high for food that doesn’t taste good. They don’t know how to store wine.

Good spot to eat, drink, and dance. I’ll normally stick to the cheese pupusas. A plus to ordering my food when I call, so when I get there I just eat. The atmosphere is flamboyant and nice overall. A place I would recommend for sure.

My fiancé and I live very close to here but had never tried it. However, we stopped on a whim since the place we intended to eat was closed unexpectedly. The restaurant is larger than it appears from the outside and has booths as well as nicer tables. It was a weeknight and there were two other families dining. I like trying new things so I asked the waitress her opinion of the Salvadoran plates. She recommended the salpicon, which is minced beef cooked with mint and onion. The plate came with mixed black beans and rice, two platanos fritos(the soft, sweet fried bananas), and two tortillas. We also ordered two pupusas; one chicharron and one squash. The three stars are based primarily on the salpicon dish. The meat was extremely dry and overcooked, which is too bad because the flavor with the mint and onion was good. But the meat! It was like it had been sitting under a heat lamp or in the oven for hours. Since Buen Sabor is a Salvdoran restaurant and this dish was recommended to us, I figure it should be better than this. The mixed beans and rice were pretty good; these were moist. The flavor could have been a little better but overall they were fine. I loved the platanos and the tortillas. The tortillas were similar to the pupusa dough: super soft and plump. The pupusas were both good and were only $ 2 each. I would give these four stars. I preferred the chicarron, which had a good flavor. Also, I had expected a little more squash. The pieces in the pupusa were bite sized and there wasn’t that many. The waitress was very helpful and friendly but service is slow. The food took quite awhile. Now I suspect that a lot of the smaller Latino restaurants in the area(Metro Balderas included) are on Latin time, so maybe I should just be patient and enjoy the moment rather than rushing through the dinner experience. But if you are in a hurry, order the food to go or head somewhere else. I’d return here for the pupusas and maybe to the try fish entrees, which look pretty good.

Stopped in here randomly hoping to get some hot soup to cure my cold. Ordered the shrimp soup. Seriously some of the better shrimp I’ve ever had in my life. Fresh zucchini and carrots in the soup. Broth was damn good too. The whole thing just had that home made taste. Will be back to try more.

This is the spot for pupusas on this side of town. I have tried various other places and both eating in and take out are great. Service is prompt and friendly. makes me proud of my half Salvadoran side… :-)

Should be a 3.5 stars. The food is bit bland, but still good. I prefer the pupusas on Pupersia El Pepeto in East Los Angeles more than here. However, the drink such as the horchata and the jaimaica are great. The people here are very nice, it does take a little time to get your food; however this is a pupersia, but this one does take a little longer than expected. Overall, I would stop by here once in a while though. A good place to check out, while passing by here.

I come here every so often and I’m never disappointed. The food is always good. I’ve had caldos, burritos, & aguas frescas among other things. My kids like it too. This place is pretty clean.

So, I have been here for 4 times and the quality of the foods is pretty consistent. It takes a little while to get your order, but that must mean that they are cooking it fresh from scratch. :) I got my beef fajita burnt yesterday, but my friend told me that it is supposed to be that way… hmm…I take what he said. Maybe I will tell them next time no blackening my meat. The not burnt parts tasted good still. I loved how their thick tortillas went really well with the sauce. My friend ordered beet-stew like dish but I honestly thought they could have given him more meat than 3 medium pieces of meat. I ended up giving half of my beef fajita(black parts that he liked lol) to my big man friend. Their salad is fresh, their rice and bean tastes really great, so I won’t complain anymore. I’ll definitely be back.

Good food, decent prices, though some things on the menu they don’t actually have… No hard shell items and no guacamole… service is pleasant but extremely slow. My family was done eating by the time I got my entrée.

Excellent pupusas, colorful atmosphere, plenty of dining room. I have tried their bean & cheese and their calabasa(squash) & cheese pupusas. yum! These pupusas are not small and the fillings have been quite generous. They also have some yummy Salvadorean horchata!

This is my very first time trying Salvadorian food and it was great! The restaurant is inconspicuously located on northern Figueroa street. If it wasn’t for my coworkers who recommended this place, I doubt I’d notice it’s existence even if i drove pass it everyday. The décor is very dive-y along with a few locals watching the soccer games on a small screen tv. The backside of the restaurant has a small stage and speakers where they host small bands on the weekends. Although i was not impressed by the establishment’s atmosphere, the food made up for it. I ordered a chicken pupusa and Carne Guisada servida con arroz which was a beef stew with rice, bean and salad. The pupusa was served with a picked cabbage that gave a slight crunch when eaten with the soft warm pupusa. The beef stew was very tender and FULL of flavor! I would probably come back for lunch again with my coworkers when craving Salvadorean food, but its definitely not a place i would come by myself.

I have been flirting with this place for years. I pass by it everyday on my way to work, giving it a sideways glance as I make my left onto Ave 45. After all this head turning, the tension finally reached a crescendo. So late one night after work I skipped my short cut home, stayed on Figueroa and hit the pedal. I yanked my blue baby to the curb and rolled out, practically stalking the door. I couldn’t believe I was really going in. I put a shaky hand on the knob and pulled… My tension turned to excitement when I saw the brightly colored Mayan themed murals decorating the tops of the walls and the blood orange booths that span the places two rooms. I liked it already. They have a couple of small flat screens playing soccer, and even sell cd’s. It appears to be family owned which is nice, and they are all friendly. They also have four enticing drink machines up front at the counter. Once I walked in while they were changing the top of the Horchata machine. A plume of Horchata reached for the ceiling reminding me of a street corner scene when a car knocks over a fire hydrant. I wanted to run over and position my mouth under where all that sweet stuff was cascading but it was too late and they put the lid back on. They have a large menu, and serve breakfast all day! Now when breakfast consists of thick handmade pupusa style tortillas, sweet platanos con crema, scrambled eggs, pancakes, chorizo, arroz, y frijoles there is really no reason to go anywhere else. MMMMK? As for dinner, you won’t be at a loss. The menu breaks down like this: Platillos Salvadorenos: Pupusas: Mariscos: Caldos: and combinations of breakfasts, tacos, burritos, hamburgers etc. I have tried the fish twice in two different ways. The first time was«ranch» style. On the menu it is Camarones A la Diabla. It consisted of a boneless slab of white fish covered in a delicious red salsa smothered with marinated bell peppers and a variety of other veggies. It completely hit the spot as I had just come from the gym and was HUNGRY. It comes with lardless beans, two pupusa style tortillas(a meal in themselves) and the rice. I tried the fish again a few days later but this time it was different. I ordered Filete de Pescado al Mojo de Ajo, or Filet Fish in Garlic Sauce. I felt a bit reluctant to peel back the foil after noticing the fins, but like Charlie’s golden ticket, I peeled back the foil a little at a time, first to reveal a snout, and then an eye, gills… this was no joke man. I cracked off the head because I didn’t like the look it was giving me. But damn if I didn’t dig into this thing, separating the flesh from the bones almost enthusiastically, and as a person who just jumped off a ten year vegetarian cruise there were inner voices yelling at me but they mostly disappeared as soon as I took a bite and suddenly felt I like a bear pouncing in a stream full of salmon. I experienced a primordial and ancient connection to my place in the food chain. All guilt melted away and momentarily it all felt right. Perhaps a Pipil spirit had entered me, I don’t know, perhaps I won’t ever know. I do know that I took the bait and now I“M hooked on this place. P. S. The inner voices and this Pisces would like to thank that fish for it’s sacrifice.
