Great sandwiches! Nice seating area as well. The sandwiches are pretty big, half fills one up.

This spot is down the street from me so I might be a little biased. Very good large sandwiches. I recommend the pastrami and roast beef hot. They have chips and a coke fridge. I usually just walk here but there is decent amount of street parking while they are ooen. Lastly, I just wish they were open later especially at night to grab a snack.

I finally got to try this sandwich shop. They are only open on weekdays and they close at 4:00pm so it’s really hard to make it here unless you work in the area. I ordered an Italian sub, macaroni salad and 2 cannoli to share with someone. Everything came out to about $ 22. Pretty pricey for a sandwich shop, but it was enough food for two people to share. The italian sub was good, but nothing special compare to other italian sub I’ve had. I wish the bread was softer. The macaroni salad was really good. It has a sweet taste to it. The cannoli was pretty good as well. It had pistachios and chocolate chip inside. I don’t think I would return here. I can get a similar sub at another sandwich shop for $ 3-$ 4 cheaper.

Forget all the so-so reviews and do yourself a favor, TRY this place! There really is something for everyone. On two days out of the week they have pasta and lasagna, I think its tuesday and thursdays. Don’t quote me. The lasagna is my personal favorite, but I have never disliked anything on their menu. I second that it is a meat-lovers paradise, but the chicken parm is good and even if you aren’t that hungry, GRAB A CANNOLI! They really are the best I’ve EVER tasted and I’ve had my share. Grew up around the corner and now that we’ve moved away we still make the drive(in traffic no less) to get our fix. Cold sandwiches are good but I do favor hot foods here. Portions are pretty big, so pace yourself and be prepared to take some home. This place is family run, has ample seating with a great ambience, and a short distance from the stadium, Chinatown and other LA landmarks. See you soon, East Side!

Being an LA institution, Eastside Deli was on my «list» of places every Angeleno should visit at least once. I asked for their most two most popular sandwiches. I selected the meatball, sausage sandwich slathered in red sauce. I’ve had this sandwich before at Cavaretta’s and Busy Bee. I couldn’t really separate this version from the rest. I took a few bites and took the rest home to make a stew. I also ordered the cannoli. It was definitely one of the best I’ve had. The sandwich was not out of the ordinary, but the cannoli, among the best I’ve ever tasted. I tasted the ricotta filling and enjoyed the flavor and texture. It’s up there with Mike’s pastry and Eagle Rock Italian Deli. I’m definitely a fan of the cannoli at Eastside Market. It’s better than your average cannoli. I don’t think the sandwich is worth the drive from far away, but Eastside Deli is a great place to enjoy a sandwich for those that live or work in Downtown area.

I’ve ordered a couple times and the people are great. I hate writing a bad review, but their main attraction, the sandwich was too far off not to comment on. Last time I got a cold sandwich and it just wasn’t great, but not bad. This time I ordered the meatball and I’m seriously worried about the product. The actual meatball had a distinct cleaning agent smell like kitchen counter cleaner or something. And it tasted off as well. I had to throw away 2⁄3 of it and now I’m hoping I don’t get sick. I’d give 5 stars for service, delivery, and staff, but the product was terrible this time.

$ 9.20 for stale bread with some toppings. The Italian sandwich sounded good but execution is far off, unless you’re looking for lots of stale bread. After taking a few bites, you might be inclined to toss the bread aside and just eat the meat, cheese, and lettuce. Don’t be foolish and naïve like me… take the 4.5-star average rating with a grain of salt(rather, a heavy dash of it).

Now this is a sandwich place! Eastside Market is an old-school Italian shop that makes enormous and delicious sandwiches. No hipster culinary«twists», no fusion items, just good, classic food. I got the DA Special for about $ 14, which is a great price for the amount of food. It’s the size of two normal sandwiches and stacked high with roast beef, pastrami, sausage, and a huge meatball. Each different meat is distinctly flavored and spiced, and a perfect marinara sauce with some bell peppers brings it all together. The marinara is excellent; it’s not too tangy and doesn’t overpower the meat. The bread gets soggy fast, but it manages to hold together and kind of ends up like a french dip by the end. For all the meat in this sandwich, it somehow manages to be not greasy at all. You’ll feel stuffed but clean after finishing it. The service is also super fast. If you’re in the mood for a delicious, hearty sandwich in LA, Eastside Market is up there with the best.

I was here on 03/24/2016 but a tad late in writing my review. The place is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Not too far from Dodger Stadium but away from the hustle and bustle of downtown L.A. Gotta’ say that I was impressed by this place. The food was so great and reasonably priced. They predominantly have sandwiches but on specific days they have Lasagna, which is what I was craving so luck that this was that day. You have a choice of meat sauce or a meatball. Couldn’t resist and got the meatball. OMG, yum! The people behind the counter are lay back and seem to know their customers. The place closes at 4PM so get there before then. Definitely recommend this place.

This place is a great spot prior to going to a Dodger game! I also saved half of my food to take into the stadium for later. They serve authentic Italian meats/sandwiches. I loved their meatballs the best. Food is served on the spot, and it’s so quick! Service was great, and there were lots of places to sit. I didn’t come during peak hours, so I don’t know what it’s like, but I was able to find parking very quick on the street. I’ll definitely be back for more!

I’m sure you’ve been here before, or at least heard of #ESM but if you haven’t it’s pretty legit! If your hungry try the #DA [Roast Beef, Pastrami, Sausage, & Meat Ball] my suggestion(with all) ask for your bead on the side(I know for some it’s different, but Change is good right?!?) Two reasons= 1st-your bread will not get soggy &2nd-you’ll watch your carb-intake! I’ve been coming here for at least 15 years & this is my 1st posting! Helpful Tip: When your eating the sausage-soak up the sauce on plate… it lakes moisture! 5-Stars because ingredients are very high quality! «All good things come to those who wait« –Many Blessings

As far as LA lunch institutions go, this place is right up there with the best of them. You will be eating alongside everyone that makes this city great: Blue collar, white collar, no collar, sportos, motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, d*#kheads — they all adore it. Grace in Ferris Bueller would probably say, «They think it’s righteous place.» Ordered the Italian with cheese, mac salad, and some chips and was in love. I cannot wait to come back to try the DA’s special. The service was top notch and there was plenty of seating and parking. I only wish they were open later during Dodger evening games for a sandwich to go. Not a big deal, I’ll be back anyhow!

I found this place when I first came to L.A. 40 yrs ago. Been coming since. Saw the young lads grow up to be adults running the joint with family professionalism. The help are a great bunch, especially Pedro. I retired from City service on 1÷22÷16 after 36 years. As long as they are around they have my business. My favorite is eggplant parmesan with sausage or with roast beef, cold sandwiches are great as well, enjoy people ! Brooklyn Lou or as my City friends call me Sweet Lou.

I was looking for a closer/easier spot than Bay Cities for my eggplant parm cravings. After reading the glowing reviews of this place, I gave it a try. Hands down it was the WORST eggplant parm sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. Total travesty and embarrassment to Italians everywhere. Soggy, with green peppers on it(this wasn’t sausage), the«eggplant» was a mushy substance of neon pink… I’m not even sure it was actually eggplant. Absolutely disgusting. I wouldn’t eat here again if you paid me.

Came here right before noon, enough time to avoid a lunch crowd, but was impressed how fast the service was. By the time I decided on my 2nd choice of sandwich, my first was on the counter. I would highly recommend #7 and probably any one of their hot subs. Doesn’t take much to master a cold one. Cant wait to be back and try a sausage and meatball sub. Note: Try a cannoli!!!

The Vatos at Eastside Market bring big, juicy and hearty Italian grinders. Long standing business that is popular and a favorite of many. The place is kind of hidden just south of Dodgers stadium along the 110 fwy. I ordered a sausage and meatball with cheese hold the bell peppers for about $ 9. The sandwich was good not great. The seating inside is very interesting and cool. Has a western bar feeling to it. Service was fast and good. Bottom line can’t beat grinders from the Eastside. Next time I’ll go for the kill and get the D.A. special. Heard it’s a mother-load.

Food 3.5 Customer service 3.5 Then cold sandwiches are ok. Nothing out of this world. The hot sandwiches are much better but still not great. It’s a family run place that is very popular I’ve come here about 10 times cause it’s close to my job. Since it seems to stay busy because of its location and I guess a Guy Fiery are here. which doesn’t mean much honestly. It seems that they have forgotten why people like mom and pop shops. Customer service. Sometimes they have conversations about family stuff and make customer’s wait to pay. I’ve seen people cleaning theire own tables. Maybe take one of the guys behind the counter and have them wipe up for customers and sweep every now and then. I really want to like this place as it seems it used to be pretty cool. But I probably won’t be coming back and I wouldn’t tell others to visit either.

Whether you’re a blue-collar or white-collar worker, a long-time resident or a visiting tourist, you’ll love the Eastside Market. It’s a slice of living Los Angeles history, having opened in 1929, and it serves up outrageously good Italian food with no pretense or attitude. I always get the D.A. Special, which at $ 13 seems like a lot for a sandwich, but once you get a look at it, you’ll understand why. It’s a sausage, meatball, roast beef, and pastrami sandwich that has no comparison. All of the meats are delicious and it’s all tied together by the marinara sauce and peppers. It’s not a sandwich you take on the go; it’s served on a plate and ginormous enough to share with a friend or two and you’ll all be stuffed to the gills. I’ve also tried a few of their other hot sandwiches and have been satisfied. They’re a few bucks more than a typical Subway sandwich, but light years away in quality. Again, the meats are all top-notch, but it’s that D.A. Special that is so over-the-top outstanding that you’ll dream about it when you go into your food coma. Highly recommended.

What side are you from? Far east side! *throws up deuces* Yeahhh… bad pun! Forgive mee! Location/Parking: Corner of Alpine St. & Figueroa Terrace. Parking restrictions in residential area…1 hr. Seating: Plenty of seats for all! Reasons to go on your cheat day or any day: 1) Who doesn’t want to go to a deli on the outskirts of Chinatown! 2) Service is great! Very informative and service is fast! 3) Sandwiches are big! They pack in a lot of meat! Share with two or more friends, family, or strangers! 4) Get the D. A… meatball, sausage, roast beef, and pastrami! 4 in 1… the mother load of all sandwiches! So BIG! Eat civilized style with fork and knife or caveman style. Whichever rocks your boat. Marinara sauce will make your sandwich soggy… so ask for sauce on the side. 5) If the D. A is not your thing, #7 Pastrami & Roast beef sandwich will knock your socks off! :) Thanks for the great experience Eastside Market. You guys are awesome sauce! :)

Something about a good Italian sub always brings back memories, but the spicy Italians I ate at subway growing up has nothing on the #9 at Eastside Deli. In fact, I feel bad even mentioning them in the same sentence. This has become my favorite sandwich in town, and the peppercinis they allow you to self serve is the cherry on top of the sundae. Once you step foot in this establishment you’ll notice that it’s a local favorite, and once you eat here you’ll know why. For those that want a heartier sandwich, another favorite is the meatball & pastrami sandwich with marinara sauce, but if you’re not eating it there you might not be happy with the soggy bread. Every once in a while I also eat the chicken parmigiana sandwich and request the marinara on the side, solid when you take it home especially if you can’t finish it in one sitting(these sandwiches come in pretty healthy portions). Remember they close at 4 on weekdays and 3 Saturday, don’t make the mistake to come on Sunday when it’s closed!

10 star review goes out for the most amazing hot sandwich I ever had in my life. The roast beef, pastrami and cheese sandwich was the best thing I ever had. No joke. It was hot, tender, and the cheese melted all over the sandwich. The juice was soaked up into the bread and I was just the thing you’d expect from a vintage spot like Eastside. I’m hooked. No more home of a diet for me. Just kiss it away cause it’s a dream.

One of the best places in LA to get an authentic Italian sandwich, HANDSDOWN. If there’s a place that serves better hot Italian sandwiches than this place, I’D LIKETOKNOW! Man, I remember coming here during my high school years. Just to put things into perspective, and to show you how old I am –_-, the hot sandwiches used to cost around $ 6. Today, they cost around $ 10 but it’s still very much worth it. My favorite sandwich is the Italian sausage with cooked peppers and cheese(hot sandwich). I’m not the biggest fan of pastrami but their D.A. Special, a hot sandwich composed of meatball, sausage, roast beef, and pastrami, is quite good and monstrous in size. They don’t skimp out on portions here. Their chicken parmesan is next on my to-try list. Only if this place were open till a bit later. I would drop by this place on my way to Dodger games. Totally worth getting one of these sandwiches instead of one crappy tasteless Dodger Dog for $ 5+…

Sooooo good!!! I’ve seen and passed by Eastside Market so many times and often there are cop cars and paramedic vans parked close to it… come to find out, there was no emergency but it seems this is a lunch hub for our amazing law enforcement officers and paramedics! Now let’s get on to the Sandwich! …OH.MY.GOSH.the serving is enormous! For the meatball lovers, The Italian Sausage, Meatball is the bomb! blanketed by a very flavorful marinara sauce, this sandwich is enough to feed two — or one if you are really hungry! My friend had the #7 Pastrami & Roast beef sandwich — being the good friend that he is, he agreed to split his #7 Pastrami & Roastbeef with me, in return he got half of my delicious meatball sandwich — talk about getting the best of both worlds! So good!!! The place is tucked at the outskirts of LA Chinatown, if you are coming from Alameda, head west and go all the way up the hill on College over the 110 bridge, make a left on Figueroa Terrace, the place is at the corner of Alpine St. & Figueroa Ter. on your right. Seriously, if you like meaty subs— and I mean jam-packed carnivore special meat sandwiches, then Eastside Market is a MUST! Enjoy!!!

This place is a meat lover’s paradise. BF and I decided to come here for a quick bite. We ordered the hot plate with roast beef and pastrami($ 11). This came with a side of bread that they normally use for their sandwiches. Geeeeze. This single order was way more than enough to feed the both of us. I normally hate pastrami but surprisingly I enjoyed it here because it was drenched in some type of tomato sauce. Pros: — Very welcoming vibes — It feels like eating at home — Clean — Nice employees — Plenty of indoor seating — TV Cons: — Repetitive taste — I don’t normally enjoy eating THATMUCH meat — Cops errrrrr-where. Would I come back? Prob not.

Solid sandwich place, its somewhat hidden in a residential area. Parking is street only. A lot of cops, DAs, those types come here so be on your best behavior. Ordered Italian sub, salami and cheese and chips. Its deli style order, so you get in line, order, and then pick up & pay at the counter. It was lunch time so super busy. The dude that took my friends order was not happy that day. Italian sub is your standard italian sub, w all the meats, cheese, chopped up lettuce and mustard. Pretty solid, not too heavy but definitely big and tasty enough to keep you full. Salami and cheese was solid as well. Good ratio of meat to cheese, i thought there were little too much lettuce inside but my friend thought it was fine. I also heard their hot sandwiches will make you full and make you have food coma. Generous portion for sure. LA themes and memorabilias on the wall. Overall, solid Italian sub place.

Came here for lunch and we ordered the #7 — pastrami and roast beef sandwich and the #3 — meatball and sausage. Both had tomato sauce over it which made it a bit messy. I ate ½ of the #7 and I was stuffed to the max! Unless you are really hungry, plan on sharing a sandwich! We were going to take the leftovers home but decided against it because the tomato sauce would have made the bread soggy and unedible. I also tried a piece of the meatball and it was good. I am a pastrami kinda gal so I will probably stick with the #7 in the future. Seating can be a bit difficult and I don’t think they clean the tables as often as they need to. Luckily for me, my wet naps came into good use as I wiped down the table. Parking — lots on the street. I felt so safe in this establishment… so many cops!

So Unilocal asked me you’ve checked in here 7 times! What keeps you coming back?! And the answer is. my coworkers like this place. I am not a huge fan. Positives: The portions are very generous. I would recommend getting the«Hot Plate» instead of a sandwich. Why you ask? Well because it comes with a loaf of bread and you can make your own sandwich if you want. And the portion of meat they give you is a pretty generous helping. Enough to feed an army of one. Usually the hot plate is Pastrami and Roast Beef but I would go with only pastrami. I will talk about that more in the Negatives. They drown the meat in their signature red sauce. 2nd Positive: I think either Tuesday or Thursday they have Lasagna/Pasta and it’s pretty good. They use the same sauce they douse the meat in. I would recommend it, and of course the portion is big. Negatives: Roast Beef is so dry that the California drought pales in comparison. Keep in mind the meat is DOUSED in sauce and it’s still dry. Anyways, Pastrami is the way to go here. 2nd Negative: The sauce is just too much for me. I mean it’s just doused all over. Too saucy. which is something I don’t say too often but yea it’s just. But at least there are bellpeppers and zucchini in the sauce. 3rd Negative: I was tired of eating sauced up Pastrami so I gave the Italian sandwich a try and it wasn’t great either. So yea, it’s not the greatest but once in awhile I guess Eastside isn’t too bad. A lot of cops also eat here. so if you’re a criminal better stay away. There is plenty of parking on the street outside, but be prepared to bust out your parallel parking skillz.

After a 55mile bike trip we wanted CARBS, so my friend suggested Eastside Market. An establishment in Echo Park that has apparently been there for many, many years. It looks small from the outside but when you walk in there is plenty of room! They offer all the classic deli options you would expect — turkey, ham, italian cold cuts. But my friend told me to try the Chicken Parm sandwich which is normally gone after lunch but we got lucky that day! The guy who took our order gave us both extra cheese for no charge. I was amazed by the size of the sandwich for only $ 9! I ate half and was so full that I saved the other half for dinner and was more than happy with the amount of food for both meals. Very quick, friendly, and they cater!

This is an old school joint. Legit, hearty Italian sandwiches. Nothing hip or fancy about this place. Order and pay at the meat counter. If you’re in a rush, you can order on the Unilocal app or phone in your order and they have a separate area for pick ups. They have a substantial seating area with TV’s. A lot of workers come here to get hearty food on their break. My first visit, so I went all out and got the DA special which comes either as a platter or a sandwich. This thing is huge! Stuffed with tender roast beef and pastrami as well as thick meatballs, then smothered with marinara sauce, it’s hard to fit in your mouth. Every individual aspect of the sandwich was good, but next time I’d probably go for a pastrami or a meatball sandwich because with the DA, all the flavors get jumbled up. This is a legit old school Los Angeles sandwich shop. If you’re a food tourist, and you really have to try an LA institution, go to Langers first, then Philippes. But if you want to try a great Italian sandwich, this is where it’s at.

It’s not busy if you come in during the morning, so it didn’t take long for my food to be ready. I ordered the number 7, roast beef/pastrami/cheese. They don’t skimp out on the meat and the portions are huge. If you don’t like your sandwiches soggy and messy, you might not like it. It tasted good, but I was expecting a medley of flavors, something stronger. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and the ambience is nice and chill in there. Maybe I’ll come back for the other sandwich selections.

I had always heard of Eastside Market before, but, never had the opportunity to go there until recently. They are located in a residential neighborhood of Chinatown. Although they are hidden in a residential neighborhood, it is not a secret with people their customers. I have only had their #7, a roast beef and pastrami. Their sandwich comes with cheese, peppers, marinara sauce a big pile of meat. The marinara sauce mixed with the roast beef and pastrami make for a good and tasty sandwich. The sauce is available«on the side» if you aren’t going to eat the sandwich right away. They have both cold and hot sandwiches, pasta, and cannoli. They have all kinds of chips. The line is long during the lunch hour, but, it moves pretty quickly. They kind of remind me of Togo’s, but, their sandwiches here are much meatier and better. They have an employee who both takes your order and makes your sandwich. After your sandwich is made, a separate cashier takes your money. Seating is available if you want to eat your sandwich there. However, there is no waiter service. I’m glad I finally came here and tried their sandwich. The #7 is good. I’ve already had it a couple of times. I may have missed coming here when in my younger days, but, I am quickly making up for lost time. I am a fan.
