The Michelada is the best and the shrimp and grits was amazing! I could have had a second bowl. Great service and vibe! We will be back.

The beer and wine were excellent. The smoked fish dip was amazing and the oysters were the best we have had possibly ever. Service was great. Warning: snack menus only 4−6pm Can’t wait to try dinner here.

This is a cute looking place and the happy hour is affordable. Service is slow though. No greeting at the door, five minutes to be given a menu, ten minutes until my order was taken, no one checked in on me.

It’s rare that I’d go out of my way to dig out my Unilocal password and use this thing, but here goes: today was my third visit, and I’d be hard pressed to name a better restaurant in LA. There, said it. So consistently great and consistently executed. Exquisite meal, great service.

Eagle Rock has a number of delicious places to eat, but this place is hands down the best cooking in the hood. Really inventive, surprising and always very very tasty. They also always seem to have a really unusual and excellent oyster selection. They often have oysters that I’ve only seen available when in the Pacific Northwest, and they’ve managed to introduce me to some that I’d never heard of. Always super fresh. And, did I mention that the beers are terrific? They are:)

This is our favorite restaurant in eagle rock. Must try is the fried cod sandwich it’s just that good. Also the peas and carrots, house chips and kale salad we loved. The beer is great, food is awesome, and the vibe is cool. Met the chef, he asked us about our food and was very down to earth and friendly. We try to go once a week, feel lucky to have it in eagle rock!

My favorite place in LA, period. Great beer, amazing food, coolest staff and great vibe. All of the beer is outstanding. My favorite dishes are the pork tenderloin, duck buns, potted pig, and fried cod sandwich. It’s a great spot for a weekday beer, date night or group hangs.

Overpriced, fussy, pretentious, tiny serving schlock. The kind of place Andrea Bocelli Opera«fans» would rave about. Never again.

After being highly recommended by a foodie friend of mine, and taking another foodie friend, on our way to a concert, I have to say I was very disappointed in this place! Service was mediocre, and I thought the menu was weak, with limited, and repetitive choices. We had to ask twice to get our sparkling wine, and never received any kind of follow-up, in case MAYBE we would have liked a second glass! Will not go back!

Sad to see all of the negative reviews — but I 1) heard about the portion sizes beforehand; 2) wasn’t expecting this to be a gastropub. I spend a fair amount of time on this side of the city and *shrug* I like having a frou-frou place. They have good beer(the guy likes that), good wine(I dont like beer) and we don’t have to travel to the WestSide to get oysters and feel semi-pretentious. What’s not to like?

First, I want to say this place gets props for just not being Fatty’s. My wife and I will eternally joke about how terrible that place was and laugh about the wench that used to troll people about the poor service and disgusting food there. Separate of this, Eagle Rock Public House has good beer. They have good coffee. They have good juice. They also have some other good drinks that I haven’t tried yet like that drink that is clam juice and tomato juice and beer, so I will get back to you on that but my friend I ate with was super into it. I agree that the menu could use some work to be more chill but the food the 4 of us got was good. The BLT I had was a good enough BLT but the bread made it a bit of a hassle because it was overly big AND overly toasted, which made it super messy to eat and a little too dry. My friend got the fried chicken. It was good fried chicken. My wife is an official fried chicken judge for the National Fried Chicken Association and she approves of the fried chicken at this establishment. My other two friends got breakfasts and their eggs were cooked well, which is a great way to gauge a restaurant IMO. The other ingredients in their egg based breakfasts were yummy according to them. If I lived in Eagle Rock, I would probably go here a few times a month for a beer and some food. My suggestions would be to relax the food a bit from an attempt at a gastro-pub to just an awesome pub. In doing this, you could lower the prices as well. [edit] p. s. I forgot to mention… as someone who was a waiter for a long time, the service here is so stellar, I almost forgot to mention it. Not to sound like a total kook but those who get that will get it. Everyone who was working when I was in there this afternoon was great.

Went back here with my girl friend for Valentine’s Day and I think this place is just going bad. The ham snack that they recommended since we were not hungry was so salty. The ham itself was ok, thinly sliced and just the right amount of saltiness but nothing memorable. But the bread that came with it was super salty. So it was salty on salty. The mustard butter was good though. Mimosas were good though $ 9 for a half glass was too much. I don’t think I’ll come back to this place.

Distinctly underwhelming. 2 ½ stars. The place is attractive — we were seated swiftly — and then the wait began. It took our server a while to approach us — longer than the table next to us(which was seated five minutes later) to get even water or drinks. The wait seems to be endemic. Everything we ordered was followed by a warning on how long it would take — that’ll be ten minutes — that’ll be 20 minutes. We even waited to hear that the bucket of chicken, which sounded so tasty, was totally 86’d by 8pm. So what we did order: * potato chips with aioli — very tasty, not very copious, not necessarily worth $ 6 * mushroom hot pocket — very tasty, relatively small and plopped on a plate with no presentation, not necessarily worth $ 11 * citrus salad — which we thought involved arugula in more than trace amounts — tasty but not worth… are you noticing a trend? * rib — as a sub for the chicken — supposed to serve«2−4» people — there was a big hunk of meat, sure, which turned into a small portion for the three of us — but there was literally a forkful of «rice grits» — which is cheap and easy and would fill people up! There were weird long strands of mizuna greens which sort of didn’t go with anything. «It was surprising there was so little rice…» my friend informed the server when we were checked in on, «It kind of wasn’t enough…» «Oh, it’s really more for TWO people,» the server chirpily informed us once it was ordered and eaten. «That’s what I do when I get it.» We paid full price for it, by the way. No offers to comp something or «how about some dessert» — just a chirpy promise to pass that info on to the kitchen. For $ 39 we were sincerely all left hungry after — and there were just three of us.(Seriously. Isn’t rice pretty cheap?) I had the Manifesto beer — which was fine and as expected. Friends ordered wine. The service was erratic — the prices were relatively high — and although everything was nice and tasty this really wasn’t enough to compel me to come back and wait and overpay.

Beer not very good, not good selection. Food is gross, small portions, and really weird. Service is not good. Way over priced, and a really annoying place.

Normally I don’t give five stars. This place wasn’t too busy on a Friday night, but again I arrived early. The food is crazy good. If you think otherwise you don’t know food, the place is a little pricy my bill for three items, and two beers was close to $ 50 but I don’t mind pay for amazing food, great beer and impeccable service. Get the tenderloin, and country ham. Pair the Tenderloin with a solidarity. The food is fun, inventive, and down right good.

I’ve visited their brewery a few months back. Got a bit excited about them opening up a public house. Got even more excited to hear that the food is really good. From my past experiences, breweries that offers food, the food tends to be lacklusting. Ordered: Kettle chips — Decent starter w/awesome aioli dipping sauce Chicken leg(brined and smoked before fried) w/potato, radish, chimichurri, celery root mashed. We were told by our server that due to the brining process, the meat may still look pink, but don’t be alarmed. Usually fried chicken previously smoked tends to be dry. Not this. Moist and the chimichurri created a nice touch of acidity to the dish. Pork cheek w/celery root, brussel sprouts and apple gastric. Perfectly tender and flavorful piece of meat. Brussel sprouts cooked al dente. Am kinda over the brussel sprouts w/bacon so having this prepared differently was quite refreshing. The sweetness from from the apple gastrique complimented the pork cheek well. Coconut Panna Cota topped w/beignets, chocolate espresso and peanuts. Great palate cleanser to end the meal. The coconut wasn’t too overpowering. The beignets, chocolate espresso and peanuts created a great texture to this otherwise smooth dessert. Both the ambience and service was great. Overall I enjoyed my experience here and will definitely be back.

After passing by the Eagle Rock Brewery Public House plenty of times, my boyfriend and I finally got to visit this place last Saturday afternoon since it started serving their weekend brunch for the first time ever! Parking was difficult to find, but if you are lucky you can find ample parking at the residential street nearby. The ambiance looked quite modern and interesting with brick walls on one side and ceramic tiles on the other. Our server, Steven, was very friendly and knowledgeable when it comes to the food. My boyfriend ordered the citrus salad and I got the chicken and biscuits with Eagle Rock Brewery’s Populist XLIPA. The food was very delicious! My cornish hen, which was fried and smoked into perfection, turned out to be flavorful. The cornmeal biscuits, although small, complemented well with the chicken and definitely served its purpose as being the chicken’s side kick for this dish. My boyfriend enjoyed his citrus salad, which included avocado, arugula, and goddess dressing. The only con about this place was the expensive price for the food that can be a $ 1 or $ 2 less, but other than that, Eagle Rock Brewery Public House satisfied our cravings and we will definitely come back to try the other food next time!
