fast casual restaurant that has been around for years. Quality persian food. I love their beef and lamb plates. They are pretty busy during lunch so I recommend to either go before or after the peak. Definitely worth a try.

The barberry and crunchy rice was awesome. The chicken kebabs were a little dry. …very dry. Maybe that’s why it took so long to cook. Gotta make it as dry as you can. Be careful with their card reader. You might put an extra $ 2.00 tip if you don’t pay attention. When they turn the screen towards you to sign, YOUNEEDTOPRESS«No Tip» before you confirm. The default is always set on tip.

They have worst chicken kabob you ever want to have. It’s dry and when you ask them to change it they will try and give your old kabob back and act like its all new. Food is zero and service is sub-zero. Don’t waste your time and money.

I wanna give them a 0 star. Terrible service and food is disgusting. Never coming back here.

Terrible place, never again. The meat in my meal was mostly charcoal, and tasted accordingly. When I showed it to the guy at the counter he looked at me blankly and said«this is what kebab is». As someone that grew up eating kebab in Turkey, I can definitely tell you that it should not taste like a unidentifiable carcinogenic substance. The yogurt drink was expired too.

Looking at their menu, you would initially think their food is cheap. But what you don’t see is they charge for their dips, the bread they serve with your meal is just half. Most middle eastern places provide the dip atleast 1 per order and serve atleast 1 whole bread too costing more or less the same! I ordered the shish kabob with an extra half of a bread for 30cents each. The meat was as dry as the desert! Of course it made me look for some kind of dip or sauce to make my meal better. I walked up to the counter and asked for a dip and they said it would cost $ 4.49. Only one size 8oz. I felt like I didn’t have a choice but to get it instead of suffering through the dryness.

After going to downtown to get some suits, exhausted from walking we decided to give downtown kabob a shot!(Seeing as how 80% of the people in the food court were eating from there). They’re located in the international food court. We ordered the beef kabob, which came with 2 strips of kabob, rice, a grilled tomato, pita bread, butter, and some vegetables. The food was good, but if you compared it to some other Persian restaurants it’s nothing special. They charge you for extra utensils and plates, just a few cents but I haven’t been to a place that charges you for these. PS: Save your receipt! They have a bathroom and to use it they charge 75 cents, But if you have a receipt, you get in free.

I love the food. BUT when I called to order my food the man on the phone was so rude he was taking someone else order while talking to me, When i ask for it to be delivery the man(I think his name was Cesar) said that my office was too far and that they wouldn’t deliver me my food, and that I have to go and get it. They deliver to my office multiple times a week, what is the difference now? Besides on the website they state that they deliver if you are not going to deliver then take it down. I was downtown buying fabric to make new costumes ! I was tired and hungry and did not know my way around downtown… happened on in to choose DOWNTOWNKABOB… to eat the best food I have had in years! The Kabobs melted in my mouth, the rice was subtle, delicious, savory and amazing. It was a busy place in a busy place on a busy day… I would literally expect food that good to be at a fancy restaurant. I would go all the way back down town from Orange County just to eat there! I LOVEDIT!

Sad to say it. But it’s down to 3 stars from the strong 5 stars it would’ve been years ago… Like others who have been coming here for years, I’ve been going to this place since 1994. I remember the first thought that popped into my head when my boss who worked right up the street recommended Persian food: «Cats. Yick.» Still I tried it anyway. I ordered the chicken kabob wit orange/yellow rice… I figured, hey… I“ll give it a shot. If I hate it, I’ll never eat it again. Then the food arrived, and and that first bite had me at hello. I’ve been in love ever since. Sadly, over the years, the food quality and customer service have been on a steady decline. it only makes me sad, because I don’t f*ck around with my addictions when it comes to food. If I love you, you have a customer for life. Alas, some relationships just fizzle, and I regret that I have to add Downtown Kabob to that list. I pray they get«it» back before they find themselves wanting for business… When they’re on top of their game, they ruin you for any other Persian food… When they’re not… well…

My Persian Go-To spot when I’m in Downtown LA Fashion District! Chicken Kabob so scrumptious that you’ll think«Did they just milked the cow?» Or is it just me??? But really, the Mini Special with Drink is a value buy. For $ 5.49(price as of 10÷10÷13) I am sold!!! It comes with some roasted white onion and jalapeño pepper, pita bread with Darigold individual sized unsalted butter and lemon zested cucumber tomato salad. They also give u a slice of lime which I highly recommend for u to squeeze on your chicken! The $ 5.49 comes with white basmati rice but you can be adventurous and choose any of the following kinds of rice for a little extra $ 0.80. –Lima bean rice –Barberry rice –Green bean rice –Sweet cherry rice(my personal favorite, $ 1.50 more) Tip! You can do half and half! They also have other types of meat like lamb shank, barg kabob(filet mignon), white fish kabob, ground beef, salmon to name a few. This place also has vegetarian options(Ghormeh Sabzi). They use fresh Halal meat. No hormones. No antibiotics. But their trademark really is this, «We do not serve fast food. We serve good food as fast as we can». I am really a fan!

I’m writing this review with the hopes the owners will read it and get it together. I’ve been coming to this place for over 15 years and have loved it! But the last year or so it has steadily gone down hill. I don’t know if I’ll be able to go back because lately it has been such a dissappointment. I usually get the same dish everytime which is the chicken kabob, barberry rice, and the cucumber yogurt dip. All 3 of these items has gotten worse and worse. Tough, flavorless chicken, salad is really acidic, yogurt dip tasted just like plain yogurt last time. the rice used to have that delicious crust but now it is rubbery, etc, etc, etc. Please, please, please come back to the standards you used to have a few years ago!

Incredible food at great prices, this is one of my favorite hidden gems and probably my favorite middle eastern restaurant. Located inside a little mall, it’s pretty easy to miss, but give it a try. Being a kabob fan, I was more than thrilled to find a location that serves them in this area. I had to try them out and went with the boneless chicken w/beef lule combo. The chicken is seasoned, nice and soft but can get a little dry when it get’s cold. The beef lule kabob is juicy and flavorful. They give you plenty of rice, Persian salad, bread, butter, tomato, pepper and onions. You will have different style rice to choose from; yellow, cherry, or regular. The portion sizes are awesome. I mean super fricking awesome, so much so that every time I buy kabob at anyplace else, it feel’s like I’m getting ripped off. The only complaint I have with this place is the waiting time. If you are looking to get your food delivered to you, I would recommend ordering maybe 45 – 60 minutes before as they take a while to prepare your meal. I eat here a lot and the food is great every time! They have always included some extra stuff, and quality has always been great. While it take’s a while for them to prepare your food, 5 stars for the consistent tasty food in a random area like this!

Worst Persian food I’ve ever eaten. Chicken kabob was tough, chewy and flavorless, gross! Chicken was bright orange and the shirazi salad was overwhelmingly sour. $ 9 for a gross disgusting pile of rubbery meat and an acidic chopped salad. Never again!

Great place! Delicious food, and the lunch specials are plenty and a real bargain at $ 5.00 and change(choice of meat incl. marinated chicken pieces or kabobs, rice, tadig, salad shirazi, onions, pita bread, and a drink). Beat that! The reason you wait a little is, they make everything fresh on the fire. 10 – 15 Minutes max. Place has an A rating and several other awards, and they truly deserve it. Regular priced larger plate is between $ 7.99-$ 10.99.

I keep coming back to this spot because you just run out of places to eat within walking distance in the area. I must say that they haven’t messed up my order since those few times. Plus the Shish kabobs have been cooked perfectly the last few times. Looks like the same guys working so maybe a new cook.

This is located inside the International Food Court in the garment district. It has a sign that it has halal: no antibiotics; no hormones in its meat. I had the fish kabob, which was close to $ 10. It comes with rice, but I had the salad, which was delicious. The fish had a lot of bones, but the flavor was on point and it was tender.
