This rating is for not giving an announcement that they are closed for construction. We called so many times yesterday, they don’t pickup. So I went to Unilocal and they have this online reservation which I did. Then i got a txt to confirm. And i responded. When my family went, the guy opened the door and said sorry we are closed. Thats not soo cool! It was my husband’s bday and its such a hassle looking for another korean bbq and we had to wait in line sonce we did not have reservation.

For $ 9.99 all you can eat Korean BBQ, I can’t really complain about anything here. My dad and I met up with our cousin and his girlfriend for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Billy K, my Korean Unilocal friend, recommended this place when I asked him about good, cheat Korean eats. Don Day is currently having a 7 Year limited time anniversary special to have AYCEKBBQ for $ 9.99 during lunch(11AM-4PM). Otherwise it’s normally $ 15.99 for lunch, which is still not bad. Albeit, the menu is limited to thinly sliced beef, marinated spicy pork, chicken, and pork belly, which is what I usually get anyway, so it didn’t feel restrictive to me. For $ 9.99, I can honestly say I ate all I could eat and then some, and it was totally worth more than 10 bucks worth of food. I don’t know how these guy make money, nor do I care when I can eat a Korean BBQ lunch for less than $ 10. Not only did the meat come in large quantities, but it was also bomb and tasty. My dad tapped out after 45 minutes, but we were still going at it for about 2 hours. The time limit here is typically 1.5 hours, but since this place only had 3 seatings at the time that we ate, the restaurant gave us the benefit of the doubt. Service was pretty good, and our grill was changed frequently. We had frequent water service, and our server was easily within reach when you pressed something similar to a door bell to let them know you were in need of anything. This place isn’t quite Gen BBQ, but for $ 10, it sure beat it that day! They do take credit cards and they were cool about us splitting the check also. Come here before the $ 9.99 lunch special ends! Wait… did I mention the AYCE only costs a Hamilton?

This is a pretty good AYCE korean BBQ spot! we got the plan C, $ 17.99. It comes MANY different kinds of meat but our party only really eats beef and seafood. They had a ton of pork belly and chicken but we didn’t try any of those. My favorite was the brisket. Really tender than most briskets I’ve had. We also tried the beef tongue, which was really rough and leathery. We also had the beef sirloin, which was kind of boring but very tender. The service was very good and their ban chan was good too! They ran out of steam egg at the time which was upsetting cause I loveeee the steamed egg! Tons of free parking in the back. No wait on a Wednesday night. Overall I like this place and will come back!

Not too shabby. This is a pretty good all you can eat spot with great selections! They have a special going on right now where all the prices are $ 2 off because of their 7th anniversary! We came in around Wednesday night and it wasn’t just at all. The bachan we received were basic and doable. BUTTHEYDIDNOTHAVESTEAMEGG! that’s my favorite part! How can you get rid of steamed egg for Korean BBQ? I tried: Brisket: not dry and didn’t come that frozen! Tongue: kinda tough. Our last batch cooked weird and dried into leather. Beef loin: plain and boring but tender. Marinaded octopus: really good! I love the seasoning and how tender the octopuses came out. Marinaded beef: not overly marinaded but kinda felt old. the overall service was very attentive! They came very fast every time we rang the bell.

3 ½ stars. What a great Korean AYCE! We came here on a Sunday evening for dinner at 5pm which we made reservations for and surprisingly it wasn’t busy at all. Hands down great customer service from our waitress and even the owner who came to talk to us for a while who told us about the history there and how he’s opening a new restaurant in a few months. I really enjoy when restaurant owners do this because it shows how much they are about their customers. We got the $ 24.99AYCE and all their options were good quality meat. Nice thing about this restaurant is that they have a free parking lot, which is awesome for koreatown.

Definitely a fan of this place! Came here with friends and we were surprised by such great food and service we got. The business is family owned and the food was real good. We were given lots of choices and recommendations from the waitress and she even made a «taste» plate of different kinds of pork which was perfect so we know what we would like or not like next time. It wasn’t too full when we came and we made reservations and got sat down rather quickly. We even had a chance to talk to the owner who was very nice and friendly. The service was already good and we had a real good experience. The interior is nicely decorated, nothing fancy, but just right. The big plus was that we didn’t go home smelling like smoke, seems like their smoke system works great as well. I will be back to eat here for sure. Also, they have plenty of parking and its free!!!

Our server was very attentive and even suggested a great dish. Thw meat and chicken was really good! The cake was really good w lots of flavor. We went with B. for $ 24.99. There was free parking available which was great!

It’s all good! I think at one point the beef tongue was cut wrong or something was off about it, but other than that Don Day is pretty cheap and standard. The service was fine, the sides were good and they kept the meat coming and the grill changes. For some reason it doesn’t stand out as one of my absolute favorite AYCEKBBQ places in L.A. but if I were nearby and they were open I’d definitely stop in and give it another chance.

In one year I think we’ve been here for over 20 times. Lol why do we come back! Because they have the a super quality meats, good service and easy parking in the back. I believe at day time they have all u can eat $ 9.99. Also there’s a very wide option and they do have several different menus to choose from. If you don’t want AYCE then just order an awesome combo or just your choice of meat. The Korean beer and saki is delicious as well and affordable.

Ah, Don Day has been and will continue to be the #1 go-to KBBQAYCE place for the boyfriend and I. Every time we make a trip down from NorCal and find that we only have time for one KBBQ dinner, we always hit up Don Day for a few reasons: – PARKINGISN’T A NIGHTMARE: With a decent sized FREE(no valet!!) lot in the back, parking has never been an issue here for us. Not having to waste 20 minutes looking for parking = more time to eat = more value = profit??? Yes I think so. – FASTSERVICE: Since the restaurant itself isn’t ginormous, the service seems to be more efficient and waiters seem more accessible than other KBBQ places. Restaurants like O Dae San or Bud Namu are sometimes too big, making me feel like I’m trying to catch a fish in the sea instead of just waving my waiter down for a kimchi refill. – GOODFORGROUPS: I’ve never had an issue making reservations for anywhere from 7 to 15 people to eat here. The ladies who answer the phone always let me choose the time I need. Thanks Don Day for being The Old Reliable!

I came to Don day for a PYE to welcome Nadine C who was recently in town. It was my first time to try Korean BBQ in K-town and I was happy that it would be with my awesome Unilocal buddies. The first thing I noticed was the pretty good prices. I know it’s K-town and there’s a K-bbq spot in almost every corner and thus I can understand why the good prices. For dinner the cheapest set was $ 17.99 and had a pretty good selection of meats and even seafood. Among the selections were beef brisket, pork butt, chicken and squid. There was various banchan which included kimchi, Korean rice paper and Kimchi pancakes! It was my first time having Korean pancakes and I became a fan of the crispy, spicy pancakes. This was my favorite out of all the banchan they offered. The price was good, the selection and banchan were well worth the price but the one thing that was disappointing was the service! The service was slow and our table barely got any attention. We had to ask several times to get water, to get our next order of meat and to get our grill changed. Our guest of honor, Nadine C. ended up being a «honorary waitress» who ended up having to run to the kitchen to get us water and running to our friends’ tables to get us chicken because or table couldn’t get our order. Service that night was just not good and it was unfortunate. This place is ok minus the service that night.

A lot of things changed here since my last review! It’s a hit or miss with the service and quality of meat. Our last visit was to welcome our friend Nadine visiting us from Hawaii! Unfortunately it was pretty embarrassing that Customer service was not good at all. We have to call them twice and sometimes even three times to get what we wanted. Even Nadine had to get up and go get stuff on her own because the wait was ridiculous. Meat quality has gone down. They used to have the best tasting brisket meat but since the past fewI times I went back, it was just ok. Don’t get me wrong, the meat is still good compared to a few other KBBQ restaurants just But! What’s still great was the parking. Easy, self, convenient, and free in back of the restaurant. Yeah, parking is a big deal in Koreatown. 3.5 for the food 2 stars for the lousy customer service we got that night.

I’m soooo FULL!!! This place is awesome! Meat is great! Service is good! Fast and friendly. They also have a lunch special for now 11am-5pm $ 9.995 items only. They have their A, B & C menu. We did C $ 17.99. Ordered the usual. But we also wanted to try the finger rib meat really good. The wine pork belly was different. It was winey not my cup of tea. I think next time I will try the bee hive pork belly and pineapple pork belly. I was just so full. Meat tender and good. We ordered the octopus it seemed like it was marinated in kimchi. It was alright first time I ate the head. Ha ha ha head. But it’s not my cup of soju! The only thing that was not good to me was the kimchi it tasted spoiled and it smelled spoiled. I know it’s fermented but it had that spoiled taste. We informed the waiter but he said that it was new and he just opened the bottle. I said I’ll give it another try but it still tasted spoiled. It’s ok I’ll pass. The kimchi pancake was good even my son loved it. Great meat and not to busy. Private Parking and street parking.

We have All You Can Eat Korean barbeque places in Hawaii, but I can always learn new things! Thanks to Tim C. for making reservations for us. He said he had picked this place because of the location, free parking, and ability to take reservations and accomodate our large group — good call! Another plus was the clean restroom! THINGS I LEARNED from Jennifer N.: –rice paper: wrap your cooked meat and a clove of garlic in it and eat! –the salt mixture — add oil to it to make a different dipping sauce –the thinner beef Brisket and tongue cooked faster and therefore we could eat more! –the people sitting in the middle of the table will end up being the cooks since they are directly in front of the grill… –I will pass on the baby octopus and squid — too spicy for me! — the Steamed Egg — oh yeah! WHAT I LEARNEDFROM Jenn G.: Bring a portable, washable Hello Kitty to enhance your foodie photos! WHAT I LEARNEDFROM Tim C.: Wear clothes that you don’t care about because they will carry a smokey fragrance ROOMFORIMPROVEMENT: Our table didn’t get the best service. We asked several servers, several times, to bring chicken; to change our dirty grill; to bring more water, more tongs, more napkins, etc. Couldn’t understand why we were being overlooked when our friends sitting right next to us had no problems. HAPPYMEMORIES: The six of us on our side of the table selected the $ 18 option. It was just right! We all enjoyed the community dining experience and had so much fun together that we would probably go back again! (Maybe they should hire that gal who cleared the extra dishes, brought water, napkins, tongs, and chopsticks!!)

I ordered A course and got a free soju(which was useless for us) for checking in. A course was the most expensive, because it includes king size Gal Bee. I kept ordering the Kkot Sal, basically boneless beef, it was the best of all other items, it had a pretty good marveling and melted in mouth. King size Galbee was unable to chew it down, and too fatty. I paid more to eat this king galbee and it turned out a waste. Lol I tried pretty much all meat items except for seafoods, nothing was delicious. Pineapple pork belly tasted nothing like pineapple, just pork belly. Tongue was bit too chewy. Banchans(small complimentary sides) were ok, nothing extra ordinary, I usually consider them as fillers because I am here to eat meat. Steamed egg was too salty, Denjang soup was very salty as well. They are pretty generous with refilling the salad. Kimchi pancake is nasty. Service was great, even though this place was busy, packed and people were lined outside, they wouldn’t rush you. All servers were pretty attentive and friendly. The ventilation inside is horrible, near the door it is too cold and windy, further from door is too hot and steamy. All in all it is a pretty decent AYCE korean bbq but just don’t order king size galbee.

For lunch AYCEKBBQ I really like Don Day. Back when they were still $ 9.99 for lunch, this might have been the Don of all lunchtime KBBQ in terms of price and quality of meat. Beef Brisket and Pork Shoulder were stand outs for me, as was the fact that at lunch its good peaceful meating. The large windows allow ample sunlight into the dining area as opposed to the stuffier traditional Kbbq warehouses. Plus service was pretty good and they kept re-filling our meats pretty regularly. I was surprised because none of us were Korean speakers but they treated us really well in spite of that. Still, for what they offer at lunch, its not a bad option and one that I will continually frequent when I just want some quick and cheaper meat in quantities that will leave me looking like Don Corleone.

GARLIC, GARLIC, ANDMOREGARLIC, PLEASE! BACKGROUND: N/A STATS: Sunday — Saturday 11:00 a.m.-12:00 a.m. Private lot in rear Metered parking on street Pretty well ventilated EXPERIENCE: Fellow Unilocaler and I had a hankerin’ for KBBQ, so we came here for dinner one night. Actually, it had been awhile since the last time I had beef and was craving it… I don’t always eat beef, but when I do, it’s KBBQ. The interior is cozy, with a couple rows of booths big enough for a party of four, separate by either a half wall or an aisle. The décor was a bit dated. I don’t recall the condition of the restroom, perhaps food coma permanently blocked it out. My first time here, and not picky about what we ordered I passed on doing any of the ordering. Unilocaler made a few suggestions and I responded with ok, as long as there’s plenty of fresh garlic. And fresh garlic there was, in the form of bulblets. As Rachael Ray says, «YUM-O! The AYCE menu is broken up into four parts and range in price; Combos 1 – 3, as well as a Happy Hour Combo that offers a choice of three items in addition to steamed egg, kimchi pancake, and a few more items. Our server delivered enough banchan to cover the perimeter of the grill. Although our booth was designed for four people, there’s no way for people would have enough table space once the meat started to come. The meat just kept coming and coming and coming. Awesomeness!!! Now where’s the garlic??? At last garlic was brought to our table. Ok, let’s get cookin’. We had several beef items, including tongue, brisket, and intestines, which were all mighty tasty and not too hard or too fatty. The intestines were interesting. It was my first tasting, not really a fan, but won’t say I’ll never try it again elsewhere. The spicy pork had a little kick and the marinated chicken was nicely seasoned. We ordered a few more items and some repeats, as well. The veggies on the barbie was quite a treat and ‘Q’d well. Our server was friendly, helpful, changed our grill frequently, keep our beverage glasses full. After calling for a wheel-barrel to haul our arses out of there, fellow Unilocaler and I discussed our experience with a bit of comparing to other KBBQs we’ve ventured and agreed that this is a keeper on our bookmark list of places to come for tasty, well priced KBBQ, Review 52 Unilocal 100+ Challenge 2015

Don Day is not your average KBBQ! After my favorite KBBQ Man Kang aka Mr. Lee turned into a seafood spot I wondered where I would go to satisfy my craving for KBBQ. I decided to try Don Day based on the Unilocal reviews it had and I was not disappointed in the very least! This place is kind of a secret paradise. There is no need to wait. It seems few people know about it. Don’t let that fool you though — this place is exceptional! The food is great. The ambience is good. Free parking is available. What more could you ask for! I came here with my BF and a good friend. All three of us left very satisfied. The quality of the meat is very good. Not one of the meats we got was disappointing. Their salad is quite good and has a nice citrusy dressing. We ordered brisket, tongue, baby octopus, marinated chicken, bulgogi, black pork belly and wine pork belly. They have really good banchan too! Kimchi pancakes, pickled daikon radish, potato salad, rice wraps and more! Service is great! They changed our grill several times. The ladies made sure we had enough of the banchan we liked. They were quite friendly too! One thing I like about Don Day is that there are window seats! I love to watch people go by as I eat! Believe it or not they have spacious and free parking! Hard to believe for a business in this part of Koreatown.

I had an awesome experience at Don Day. I came here to catch up with some friends on a Friday night and we had a blast. You have the option of choosing from different«meat options», but I highly suggest going with the cheapest option which was«option C». You really don’t miss out on much and you still get to taste all the essential meat. This place was very clean, service was outstanding, and they refilled our side dishes right away. I made a connection with one of the ahjumas that was working there and she gave us a free bottle of beer because I told her that I was broke and that I couldn’t afford to order one. One tip — If you really want to be cheap, then come here after 9pm. I believe it’s a flat fee of $ 9.99 for all the meat you want. I don’t know if you want to be eating meat at such a late hour, but hey if it means you can save some $$$, then why not! I would totally go back to this place again but sadly I live in Boston and I was just visiting California. =/
