I had my first men’s haircut from Deborah today. She was great! So personable and down to earth. I usually dread haircut small-talk, but this was truly enjoyable. Beyond the conversation she did excellent work. She took time to figure out the style I wanted. I was impressed how she clearly knew the look I was going for. She was focused and caring while cutting my hair. At the end she also used a good product. I left feeling confident about my cut.

I’m so grateful for CROP! I’ve had at least 8 cuts here since I discovered this gem 2 years ago. When I first started going my hair was very short and always walked out with a great, clean, perfect-for-me cut. About 6 months ago I decided to grow my hair out and Deborah has been amazing and accommodating by giving me trims and bang trims to keep me in shape while going throw the awkward phases of growing out. The vibe in the salon is so good — it’s relaxed, friendly, clean and fun. Deborah is an awesome supporter of her clients’ projects and of neighborhood businesses, so every time I’m in I also make sure to check out what business cards and locally-made items she has out. Now, on to how awesome Danielle is! Since I was a teenager I’ve dyed my hair myself mostly because I’m short-sighted and really cheap. However, I had recently *accidentally* dyed it from brown to black and wanted help getting it back. I knew that it would be tough to lift black off and keep it looking natural, but Danielle freaking nailed it. She was so kind and so patient during our consultation — she took time to understand exactly what I wanted and looked at reference photos with me. Then, she magically turned my unnatural black hair into an array of brown shades that literally look like my hair color when I was a child(before I discovered box dyes). Danielle was an absolute delight to be around for our hours together in the salon and she did an amazing job. CROP is the best. These ladies are the best. End of story.

I went to Crop and got one of the best cuts I’ve ever received by none other than a fine gentleman named Danny. He was personable and I loved the cut he gave me. See yA soon I’m coming back for sure!

I used to get my haircut by Danny over at Proper Barbershop. He told me he was moving over to a new shop and I definitely follow him to wherever he ended up. I was really excited to set foot in Crop and come in to a cool and relaxed environment. They had great music playing and I felt like I could stay there and hangout in the awesome setup they had there. I highly recommend Danny as he always gives me the perfect cut I’m looking for. He’s super knowledgable and makes me feel at ease with his warm nature and friendly conversation. I always leave the chair extremely satisfied with the cut he’s given me and feel like he knows how to keep me lookin clean. Definitely go see him and get a cut. Well worth the trip.

Heads up Unilocalers — I was so excited to get my hair cut at a new place, but apparently they’re not taking any new clients at this time. Hope y’all are current clients, or that they open the books again soon!

Since moving here from NY about 4 years ago, I have not haven’t been able to find a stylist who could cut my hair the way I’d like. I have thick, straight, natural blonde hair and every stylist I see cuts my hair wet. If you’re a blondie like me, you know that is a problem! A friend of mine(who always has fantastic, edgy hair recommended I visit Deb. I emailed her to set up an appointment and heard back within a couple hours, yay! I was able to get an appointment the next week and was nervous that this would be yet another disaster. The moment I sat in her chair, I knew it would all be ok. She immediately said«I don’t want to wash your hair — blondes can’t be cut when they’re wet ok?» FINALLY!!! Someone who understands my woes! We had a nice conversation while she snipped away, but didn’t feel the need to talk the whole time(I don’t enjoy an ultra-chatty stylist). When she was finished, I couldn’t have been happier. The cut was not what I was expecting — it was better! I’ve never gotten so many compliments on a haircut before and feel such a relief knowing I no longer have to continue my search for the perfect salon. Thank you Deb!

It’s so hard to find someone that can cut curly hair but I found my girl Ramona at This or Die Salon when she started working in L.A. so that’s why I followed her to Crop Salon. I was a little hesitant to go light but I trusted her and she gave me an amazing balayage and cut! She’s so awesome I sent her my cousin, two friends, and my mother. They all love her. Ramona is also hilarious and fun!

I’m almost hesitant to write this b/c I feel like as soon as the word gets out about Ramona at Crop I’ll never be able to get an appointment… But I CARE so here ya go: I got my first cut and color with Ramona when she was still in Atwater Village at This Or Die Salon. I had just moved to the hood, went off a Unilocal rec and she was great. The color was so spot on what I wanted and the cut was maybe one of the best I’d gotten in my LIFE. But I’m a New Yorker so I was skeptical. One good cut does not an allegiance make. So over time I went back… and then I went back and back and back. Every cut was seriously better than the last. Then Ramona moved from This Or Die(not surprising – she was way cooler than the vibe at that place) to Crop Salon in Highland Park where she is now. It’s not my hood but I followed her there and have been to this cute little salon about four times now. I’ll just say that Ramona’s cuts are hands down the best I’ve ever gotten. They are as edgy as you want them to be, full of movement and style and grow out so so well. I have very literally never gotten as many compliments on my hair before as I do after a Ramona cut. One of my close friends is already a convert. SO, go meet her and get your hair cut. There is absolutely no way you will not look better than you do right now. Go.

I was the kind of guy that would get a $ 8 haircut once every 2 months and never had a haircut that I was pleased with and in general my hair didn’t look good. Then my gf suggested I go to Deborah after she had been a few times and each time with great results. That’s pretty much when my hair situation changed. I started enjoying my hair and had haircuts that I liked and I got compliments for. Deborah taught me how to style my hair and turned me on to better hair products that made styling easy and hold up through the day. Deborah is great at listening and interpreting to my ideas and also has a ton of great ideas. I can’t thank her enough. She is more expensive than what I used to pay but there is no way I’m ever going back to having lame hair.

Booked an appointment one week ahead of schedule. On the day of my appointment i head over to get my haircut. I arrived on time and found Deborah with another client. I ended up waiting 15 minutes for her to get to me. While i was waiting i saw that i had a voicemail. It was from Deborah. She called 2 hours before asking if she could reschedule me. Her shop is nice and she provided iced water with lemon which was tasty. I showed her a pic of how i wanted my hair then she proceeded to cut away.(she didn’t talk to me the whole time.) I liked the way my haircut came out. And afterwords i asked about some hair styling products and she was helpful with that. I paid with a debit card. she said $ 30 and swiped my card on her ipad. The next day i look at my bank statement online and see i was charged $ 35.

Deborah is truly talented. She takes your hair type into consideration and gives you what you want based on what you ask her to do. I have extremely thick and coarse hair, and Deborah was not intimidated to cut it(like some other stylists I have been to). She also was able to texturize it in a way where it was super cute and stylish *and* it would grow out well. Based on my past experiences, this is extremely uncommon. She is very polite and professional, and her prices are incredibly reasonable. I would recommend her to any friend(or anyone on Unilocal).

Booked an appointment with Deborah. Didn’t realize that this salon is run entirely by her(she answers the door, books the appointments, and of course, cuts the hair). My friend recommended this salon to me, so gave it a shot. I asked her to give me a cute bob cut with bangs for the summer. When I looked over my hair at the salon, thought she did a great job. When I got home and looked over my hair under bright light, noticed that she burned my bangs(I think she got my bangs a little too close to the hairdryer and singed the ends) and my bob cut was uneven. Overall, I still like my bob cut. However I don’t think I’ll be going back to this salon.

I’ve been seeing Deborah exclusively for 6 years. I see her when Im in a funk, when Im tired of my hair in a bun, on payday, or when I don’t have a lot of cash… She is really reasonable on top of everything! She’s no supercuts though, meaning, she’s totally opinionated. YOu better have an idea of what you want, bring picks, or you can just trust her and let her pop your style cherry. She is the type of person that WILL tell you when your jeans are not flattering, same goes with cuts… She’s talked me out of some bad styles, and encouraged me to not be so safe. I rely on her for this. Its not my world, I pay for a cut but I get a style that can also grow out phenomenally when I’m lazy… like months in between and still looks good. She’s a hair wizard. She cuts my two little girls(ages 3&12) hair too. This review is my first Unilocal review ever and long overdue…

I love that the negative reviews for this place are over the top rants about misunderstanding and failures to communicate and not really about actual services rendered.(Hey. Don’t get me wrong. I rant all the time, so rant on with your bad self…) I don’t understand why that lady did not just make another appointment? It’s not like she prepaid for the service or got hoodwinked. Why so combative? Why do some people act so damn entitled? Why does my cat like shoe boxes? Why is present tense and past tense READ the same word??? If you are unfamiliar with what is going on here. Deborah, the proprietor of the salon runs the show. Its a single chair studio. No receptionist, no apprentice sweeping up hair… Just you and Deborah. As I mentioned before in my last review, she creates a comfortable environment. Deborah is a skilled artisan – a real craftsman at her trade. She is personable and listens. She has a great artist’s eye and understands symmetry, hair type(she knows how to cut curly hairs) and is honest. I had a sad mess on my head. I feel like I cheated on Deborah by going some place else. Especially since she did such a good job of hooking up my hair last time. That is a mistake I will not be making again. I explained to her what I thought the problem was. I showed her some pictures of what I thought would work with my face. She looked at me, she looked at my hair and touched it and said, «I know what I’m gonna do.» AND just like that, Voila! I had to go a little shorter to fix it, but my curl is back baby! It’s layered nicely, it’s truly wash and wear. When it’s curly I look like Masha from the ‘King of Comedy’ and when it’s straight(because yup, I already ran the hot comb through it) It’s a cross between Karen O and Adrian from Rocky 1. I LOVEIT! I feel so pretty. I’m happy. Thank you Deborah. Words of advice? At first I had to email Deborah twice. She did not get back to me right away. Be patient. Communicate with her. Ask questions. She’s a cool person.
